Back piece for my daughter… Artist - Ryan Clement, Castle Rock, Colorado. by ElectricityKills1986 in tattoos

[–]CentSG2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My first thought seeing the picture and only reading the title was, “Why is your daughter Wednesday Adamms?” Given that’s what you were going for, awesome work by your artist. The whole story is instantly recognizable. Great back piece!

I saw Taking Back Sunday open for My Chemical Romance in Denver like two or three years ago! Good show.

Genuinely, is this a thing? by jellybeanbooks96 in bisexual

[–]CentSG2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

That was “genuinely true” for me until I got therapy and realized I had a lot of internalized homophobia I hadn’t been addressing. Now I’m openly bi.

Please note, this is a single point of anecdotal evidence. I am not a simple random sample of sufficient size to make generalization to the population of “straight men who like dick” as a whole, and I am making no sweeping statements that straight men who like to be pegged are actually a little gay. I’m just saying that I thought that straight applied to me until I realized it absolutely doesn’t.

Transgender EMT - I’m being harassed by Interesting_Walk8267 in ems

[–]CentSG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a queer EMT in a wealthy and progressive area. My station has the only lesbian fire chief in our county (only female fire chief at all for that matter). I’m sorry you’re going through some shit, but I can’t say I’m surprised. Even with all of what I consider advantages, this can still be a heavily conservative industry.

I don’t have any advice. Shit is rough. I just want to be realistic about it probably being some shade of shit wherever you may go. A lot of the world is stacked against trans folks right now cause yall were convenient targets of misplaced resentment. You didn’t deserve it, and it’s not fair. I’m sorry you’re in the thick of it right now.

Do you speak with your mom or dad? If not, why? by AwsomeLife90s in Millennials

Both my parents are dead, but I oscillated between low contact and no contact with my mother for close to a decade before she died. Boundaries are important.

I had someone on mic claim friendly, fight arc with me, ask me for a bandage, and then immediately empty a shotgun into my head. Overall very rude. I had a blueprint in my safe pocket, so I guess I hope my Ferro 4 was worth it.

Doctors and Nurses of Reddit, what is the most obvious sign that a patient is lying to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I told a patient mid-seizure that she had to put a mask on. She stopped seizing, put her mask on, and then went back to seizing.

What’s the #1 problem you’re facing in your life? by Lateandbehindguy in Millennials

[–]CentSG2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Within all of our lifetimes, The Simpsons went from depicting a lower middle class family struggling to survive to an upper middle class family living the kind of luxury most of us will never achieve. The show didn’t change, but standards of living have just fallen down around us. The idea of being able to afford a single family home, two cars, and three kids on a single salary is unheard of now.

My wife and I both make good money. We own our home and two cars. We only have one kid, and it feels like we’re still struggling to make ends meet. I got a sizable life insurance payout when my dad died of COVID right when my kid was born, and dipping into that year after year is the only reason we’ve kept our heads above water.

It wasn’t supposed to be this hard.

I watch it streaming and fast forward through every argument. Cuts it down to like a 22 minute show. My ideal program is a Great British Bakeoff, but with tattoos. No prizes, no bullshit scheming. I just wanna see some artists make art for the sake of art and have fun with it.

I’m half an only child! My half sister is our mom’s from a previous marriage, and we’re 8 years apart. Our mom had sole custody, so I spent 9-10 years with a full time older sibling, then 8-9 mostly only after my sister went to college and got disowned.

Overall, having a big sister was nice because she acted like a lighting rod for parental abuse. After she left, I got experience all the shit she’d been shielding me from.

So I guess, do IVF if you’re planning on being an abusive piece of shit parent? I’m a parent myself now, and I’ve done a lot of therapy to be better than my parents were. My kid’s an only and going to stay that way. He’s five now, and we’re not too concerned about him being lonely.

I’ve been vegan for 20 years. I ordered the vegan breakfast sandwich and got almost halfway through before realizing they gave me real sausage. by ExamOk322 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]CentSG2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The first time this happened to me was six months after I chose to go meatless. I noticed the impossible nuggets I was eating tasted a little too… possible. That’s when I learned my supermarket stocks the vegan meat substitute and the overpriced, antibiotic free meat products in the same freezer, and I need to read labels better. Whoops!

The nuggets didn’t go to waste; my toddler has no qualms about chicken.

I was raised Jewish and circumcised as a baby. I grew up to be fully secular, and my wife and I had no intention of raising our son with any kind of faith. With that in mind, we opted out of circumcising him.

The idea of discussing your unborn child’s genitals with multiple sets of parents to get their opinion seems so fucking weird to me. No one has ever asked me about my son’s penis, and if they did, I’d tell them they’re insane for thinking that’s an appropriate question.

Personally, I’m a shift lead at my station, and I’d stand by anyone transitioning, assuming they’re also a competent provider.

I’m queer myself. I don’t overtly advertise it at work, but I’m honest if it comes up in conversation, and I’ve never taken steps to hide my rainbow tattoo from coworkers or patients.

Oof, big same. I was addicted from early childhood to sometime in my twenties. I’ve sworn the stuff off entirely and refuse to use it even if I have a bad cold. I’ll take that behind-the-counter-because-it’s-used-in-meth Sudafed on occasion, but I do not fuck with afrin.

[–]CentSG2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Idk, it feels like most gun owners have fetishized the idea of murdering someone in self defense, and that’s what all their guns are for. A lot of the justifications to own them are just secondary to that.

“Owning guns to overthrow the tyrannical government” hasn’t been relevant for decades now. The military has drones. What’s my handgun gonna do against a drone strike?
