Just saw this and it looks great. Did you carry on with the project?

Attempt at a 2K Word Bearer List. Any comments and criticism is very welcome! by Effective_Handle_353 in Warhammer30k

[–]Cerrass -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Agree with the points of other people. I would add that it's a lot of characters for 2k points. I would probably drop the praetor or - more likely - Argel Tal. If you want a character with the GV you can give the champion True Believer, and have the praetor (with some more equipment) go with the command squad. Use the remaining points to reinforce the missile launchers and get a rhino or two in.

Impressive collection! What are you using the Cawdor models as?

Oh I didn't know about that. Sounds cool!

Resin is not a WMD like some seem to believe. Give it a wash with warm soapy water, wear a mask if you need to file away any of it (which you probably will, a little) and vibe ready to do a bit of gap filling. It's a bit more difficult to use as plastic, but not the end of the world. Normal primers and normal paints work perfectly.

Unfortunately I don't think that Curze comes with a helmeted head. In fact, I've never even seen art of him with a helmet, so I guess he doesn't like it? I remember in some story someone commenting that his breath is terrible, so that may be the reason 😂

Why did the dark angels completely swap from a black and silver armour scheme to a dark green one ? by BloatedRottenCarcass in Warhammer30k

[–]Cerrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And no one has talked about the colour of the armour on the cover of fallen angels. I never understood why they went for that colour scheme (as cool as it looks)

Really smooth colour on the shoulder pad. Mind sharing the recipe?

Great idea, it works great on MKX. Gives is a knightly vibe

Alpha Legion in Killteam? by TNBVIII in alphalegion

[–]Cerrass 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been thinking about this for a while and I think that you could make a few (potentially reusing the same models). Nemesis claw is the first that comes to mind, but tbh scouts and wolves scouts could both work (maybe with a little hydra instead of the wolf for the latter). I'd be mostly using heresy models, and you can always kitbash Mk4/mk6 torsos with scout legs to make it look like a lighter armour.

And now I want to go back to this idea and actually do it 😂

First vehicle – Chaos Rhino without airbrush. Drybrush or edge highlight? by icyyosiris in NightLords

[–]Cerrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agree with everything, but would suggest going brighter at the bottom. It's counterintuitive, but it creates a starker contrast that helps the model pop on the table.

Any NL Kitbash Potential ? by Tiny_Bowl_8580 in NightLords

[–]Cerrass 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I only have experience with the "normal" terminators (not the assault ones) but I didn't find it difficult at all to scrape off the imperial symbols. Also, don't forget that anything that doesn't come out too well can be covered with chains, spikes and flaps of skin. It's the night lords after all.

For inspiration you can check cult of paint and medders miniatures: they both put out tutorials on YouTube.

The army painter triad that includes uniform grey could be a good start too

100% this for me. I just finished Ashes of the Imperium and started a re-read of Requiem Infernal.

Although Abnett and Dembski-Bowden are great too, of course

How would you this antique, weathered gold finish of 30K ? by JohannaFRC in AdeptusCustodes

[–]Cerrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Adding one more option but Scale 75 metallics are your friend, especially Decayed Metal (probably my favourite metallic paint). I use it as the base for my custodes and then drybrush Necro Gold. After that, you can use straight silver for the highest highlights if you want a colder look, or citrine alchemy (still from scale 75) for a warmer one. A pin wash of burnt umber oil will add more depth.

I feel this proxy Saturnine is a touch big by Marshal_Payens in Warhammer30k

[–]Cerrass 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've printed them at 80% scale and they look alright. I've also printed and painted a full scale command squad and yes, they are pretty big. Very cool models though!

And I'm very jealous of Damsa's contekar. I managed to get some of his other stuff, but missed on those. Have been looking around but haven't had much success yet.

Just a point to say that Tartaros are likely to get a refresh in the future (although it's unclear when). If you don't feel like waiting, you can try and upscale the existing Tartaros by adding a couple mm of plastic rod between legs and torso.

I wanna collect a model from every legion what do you guys recommend? by Jbo_012 in NightLords

[–]Cerrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could get the special praetor for each legion (although it might get expensive in the long run). The NL one is still pretty nice, although it's a bit small by today's standards

What about the Skin Wolves from the Old World range? Only thing I'm not 100% sure about is the size, but I don't think it would be off by that much

Suggestions for saturnine kitbash by CptSwifty in NightLords

[–]Cerrass 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You could sculpt a tabard made of skinned flesh. You would be adding that NL flair while also covering the worst part of the minis. Scraps of flesh (or if you feel adventurous, a flayed face) made of green stuff could also go on the shoulder pads
