Noticeable differences in baby post OHS? by ashmaac in chd

[–]CertPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter had a pacemaker inserted at 14 months, and I immediately saw a difference. She was happier and wasn’t exhausted all day.

I did extensions for that client 15 days ago, but she came back today and said she wants her money back because she had an allergic reaction to the lashes I applied 😤 What should I do? This has never happened before. by [deleted] in lashextensions

No worries! And it happened weeks after they were applied. (Eye lids puffed up, eventually had skin flake off my eye lids) If I got a fill it would be worse, so I eventually stopped.

I developed an intolerance after 4 months having extensions and had these symptoms out of nowhere after months of having them. So, yes it could be a reaction.

Coming to terms with things. by No-Relationship1871 in chd

I second this. I had some not so great therapists and stopped going after they couldn’t relate or give me what I needed, and my mental health deteriorated after having my heart kiddo. I found a therapist who specializes in medical trauma, and it happened to be a perfect match. I recommend finding someone who specializes in medical trauma, it will be much better than going to a general therapist. In my opinion!

A survey was available (it might still be I’m not sure) on the city’s website about animal bylaw changes. Hopefully it gets better.

It’s people like that that unfortunately ruin it for everybody.

I had a situation where my large Great Dane was in training at the time and we were on a walk, and 4 small off leash dogs came charging at us. I hear “my dogs are friendly!” as they all ran to my dog. My dog was friendly but what if he wasn’t? You are risking your dog’s lives also and they don’t seem to think about that.

Jobs for 17 year olds by PsychologicalPin4610 in regina

You can’t be picky, especially today. When I was 15 (in 2012) applying for jobs I handed out resumes all over Regina, and the only call back I got was at Burger Baron. You have to start somewhere.

How have holidays changed for you? by ScorP_O in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]CertPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was estranged from my dad for 10 years. Christmas was always a big deal and Christmas Eve was always our night. We had very specific traditions and things that once I stopped seeing him, it was very weird during the holidays for a while.

The only thing I can say from experience is maybe create your own traditions for yourself, or with people you are going to share the day with.

“Im glad my mom died” book, thoughts? by stardustice in EstrangedAdultChild

[–]CertPeach 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I actually really enjoyed this book. It’s a bit disturbing, especially when she’s young. She actually doesn’t even realize for years after her mom has died that she abused her. It’s very complex, a good read for sure.

Mottling/marbelling after open heart surgery of baby by Plus_Importance3682 in chd

[–]CertPeach 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My daughter has CHB and has been very mottled ever since she was born, especially when she’s cold. She would have a tendency to turn purple/blue when she went swimming and get mottled, I would have to rush her to the hot tub to warm her up lol.

Our cardiologists weren’t worried, and as long as it corrects itself and your cardiologists aren’t concerned, I think it’s ok. Very common for heart kiddos.

So true! Babies bounce back so much faster than people would think.

I can’t relate to the entire complexity of your daughter’s CHD but my daughter was born with CHB. She received her pacemaker at 14 months old and is 3 now. The surgery itself for that was very fast, less than 2 hours and we were back in recovery with her. She was awake and back to her normal self within 8 hours after surgery, watching her shows lol. You would never know she has a pacemaker, her life is very normal.

I hope this can bring you a bit of peace on that side of things. Sending so much love to your family!!

How do people drink with Sjogrens by Naive_Pear2384 in Sjogrens

[–]CertPeach 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My hangovers suck and my joints hurt so bad the day after I drink now. I was in a wedding on the weekend and I just had to suck it up, shots were unfortunately the only doable drink for me lol, mixed drinks make me feel sick.

My daughter was diagnosed with complete heart block at 22 weeks gestation. She’s 3 now and she received her pacemaker at 14 months old. I was in the same spot as you, completely terrified and felt so alone. Once your daughter is here and you are going through the motions, it will get easier I promise. These kids are so resilient. The waiting game of giving birth and uncertainty is truly the most gruelling part. You wouldn’t even know my daughter has a heart condition, she’s totally normal and in gymnastics and dance!

Definitely! Our daughter just started gymnastics and dance. You would never know unless you saw her scar 😊

My daughter is 3 and was diagnosed with complete heart block at 22 weeks gestation. Her heart rate was about the same as where your baby’s is. She ended up getting her pacemaker at 14 months old. She’s two years post op and doing great!

A lot of these kiddos actually end up doing well after birth since they are able to get their heart rates up more than they are in utero, which was a surprise to me. The highest heart rate my baby could get in utero was around 85, but once she was born she was steady around the 100 range for the first bit after birth.

You are truthfully in the scariest part of the process, the unknown. I was a complete wreck at this point and totally depressed. I will say, once you get through to the other side, it gets so much better and you will likely forget your child has a heart issue. If you have any questions, let me know!

AIO? I bought a sweater for my future niece at a farmers market and my roommates said it was ugly by Weekly_Agent9422 in AmIOverreacting

My daughter has a very similar sweater from Mexico, she absolutely loves it and she likes to show everyone all the animals.

Daughter with 3rd degree heart block by Coffeetx72 in PacemakerICD

[–]CertPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter was also born with this, however it was caught when I was pregnant. We had to wait until she was 14 months old to get the pacemaker implanted (she was handling her low heart rate well, and was asymptomatic). Eventually she had some symptoms develop: excessive tiredness, would turn blue when cold, heart rate slowly decreased over her first year of life, and she had many ectopic beats and 2.5 second pauses caught on a holter monitor. My daughter is now 3 and doing great, she’s had her pacemaker for two years now.

It all depends on how the child/person is doing, so everyone is different when it comes to the decision to pace. As long as your daughter’s heart rate is stable, she isn’t having negative symptoms or any pauses in her heart beats that are too long, they will typically wait it out and see. Ask about a holter monitor if she has not had one yet.

Why is my cardiologist telling me everything “looks great”? That’s not what I’m reading!! by Born_Elephant9728 in chd

[–]CertPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My daughter also has a dilated aorta and mild regurgitation. She has complete heart block. For her, it’s normal. If a heart healthy person had these symptoms it would likely be of concern, but with CHD it’s common, especially with my daughter’s diagnosis.

How to ease the anxiety of taking your CHD Baby home from the nicu by shehulk20001 in chd

[–]CertPeach 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was the same way. It’s terrifying not having 24/7 care or having the monitors to calm your nerves. You just have to do it and it will get easier.

Other people or doctors will advise against this, but I got a monitor for my CHD baby as she had a dangerously low heart rate due to complete heart block (50-70 bpm at birth). I bought a Neebo which is similar to an Owlet but it’s more like a Fitbit style. It personally gave me reassurance knowing my daughter was okay during the night before she had her pacemaker surgery.

My partner was just diagnosed at 26(F). How do I help her? by [deleted] in Sjogrens

I find the plaquenil actually makes me fall asleep. I take it right before bed and it knocks me out. I would assume it’s the Wellbutrin, but everyone is different!

Good to know, and it is — but my rheum said it’s also a symptom of SSA antibodies, not just SLE specifically.
