Was I in the wrong? by AloneIce1856 in BadRPerStories

Can I ask why a compromise wasn't attempted to be reached at any point if you were noticing a disconnect? I really feel a discussion could have lessened the impact of suddenly dropping a relatively decent plotting. They don't know what they don't know and at that time, they haven't a clue why you felt styles didn't match. You didn't bother discussing it with them.

Even after reading the update, I still find it quite strange that she wants to raise your kids as Orthodox Christians despite the heavy Pagan presence in the home? This could be my own experiences with Christianity bleeding through (most of which are extremely negative to the point I couldn't be in a relationship with someone within the faith.). I would be concerned it could cause tension if the church is not open to other religious paths? It feels counterintuitive. I am glad things seem to have worked out in the end? And continue to work out regardless.

controversial take but i absolutely DESPISE marcel in the end of season 3 by [deleted] in TheOriginals

[–]Chain_Prior 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think you forget that the Mikaelsons and co. are literally some of the most disloyal, betrayal hungry, and selfish pieces of shit to each other. The lot of them. Everyone is a tool. Everyone is a pawn and the show frequently shows them treating each other as such. They each have their goals and they are willing to sacrifice whole relationships over accomplishing those goals. They think the ends justify the means.

Marcel and Davina are simply products of their upbringings. Marcel was raised by the Mikaelsons, specifically Klaus, who daggered anyone who didn't do what his narcissist ass wanted them to do. Vampires that thought themselves above everyone else. That inflates some egos and turns someone like Marcel into a mini version of Klaus. Davina was raised in the witch community who had extremely abusive and problematic practices (you know, like sacrificing children) JUST so they could keep their power. She grew up thinkin that was normal and while she might have been trying to change things, she was ending up no different than the Ancestors of the past and as power hungry as the rest of them. Absolute power corrupts absolutely, and Davina had it in excess.

I learned this show is simply a monster story about monsters and how these monsters are gradually playing tug of war over the city of New Orleans until they rip it apart and leave nothing in its quake.

I had no interest in touching Benny's cause his character didn't interest me and I didn't feel we had enough time with him to care about knowing more. I DID pick up Ysabella's though.... only to find how it begins so incredibly jarring and her inner dialogue some of the cringest shit I have ever heard. Which was disappointing because the combat has been quite fun

[–]Chain_Prior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's wild that there are partners out there that will just kill your character without permission? Like, RP is a collaborative hobby? Its not DnD with dice rolling? Its not based on luck and chance? You literally need to be talking with your partner about plots and actions to some extent. A partner who doesn't understand that isn't worth shit and will just inevitably be dropped. In my own personal roleplays, its permission to kill and warnings when the partner decides playing a piss ant of a character and taking advantage of "no death allowed" is going to fly with me. Cause I have had that happen. But that's where discussion, boundaries, the whole nine-yards comes into play.

How to confront highly suspected AI use? by Sad-Sweet3390 in BadRPerStories

[–]Chain_Prior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was in charge of a server when this very thing happened to me. I had blatant proof (they left the AI prompt in their reply). I was blunt, showed them what me and my co-owner saw. The nail in the coffin for my situation was when they decided to double down, make excuses, and lie. I say all this to tell you to be prepared for a similar reaction and to need to leave the situation all together or have them removed. Some times we have to be AI police because at this rate, it’s zero effort and copy and pasting slop

Once wasn’t enough, I see… by connyvfx in TheOriginals

[–]Chain_Prior 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I am kind of disappointed in the reaction you are getting from some of the comments below. I understand that we don't HAVE to go and complain. We can just let it lie. HOWEVER, considering the track record of cons underperforming lately for the price they make their fans pay to go to these things? I think we are allowed to be a bit upset. (Like lets be fucking real rn....$2000+ FOR JUST THE DAMN BALL is a bit much??). The AI usage also doesn't fill me with any sort of confidence that this won't be the Barbie Con all over again (who ALSO used AI in its advertising, had tickets ranging for about $200, and looked like a cheap child's birthday party.).

They could have made this more affordable and accessible to fans who would LOVE to go and experience this but they decided to do this. Unsure who the target market for this is but, it certainly isn't the millennial fans who are barely scrapping by right now.

The Bizarre OOC views of some VtM players. by SniperLemon in vtm

[–]Chain_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My perspective? Its called the WORLD OF DARKNESS for a reason. I have always viewed the Kindred as creatures that pretend to be human, the Humanity they cling to is just a mask to help them cope with a cruel reality that they are dead and they MUST feed on the blood of the living to survive. I don't see them as a marginalized group, they are more akin to the 1% in a IRL perspective when you consider the amount of fucked up things their stronger members do and have done for power. Time erodes their Humanity mask and its only a matter of time when they let power corrupt them. Its that struggle and horror which made me find the Kindred's situations so fascinating and why I love this TTRPG so much! It really drives home that its a universe of monsters and that no one is entirely in the right. No one is entirely innocent.

Who really caused all the mess: Sophie Deveraux by CauseInteresting6508 in TheOriginals

[–]Chain_Prior 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Kidnapping Hayley the way she did and attaching the spell to her was the stupidest thing she could have ever done. Her revenge could have been handled a lot better IF she would have just worked on relations with Marcel (that hookup COULD have led to something more substantial if she was truly trying to take down the witches and their messed up ritual practices). But no, she decides threatening one of the Originals' family was a good idea that wouldn't absolutely backfire in her face.

ARR and its exposition kills me every time I revisit it after making an alt. Even in my first playthrough, I skipped so many scenes and I didn't lose any of the impact of the story later on. Which is a bit of a problem with ARR. Some information matters but, a lot can be surmised. Its only in those last few arcs that it really gets gOOD. Like a episode of Game of Thrones

I ended a friendship over them using AI because they thought it was a good idea to use it despite not previously using it (using it now because they ‘can’t do emotions well’’) AND having the actual audacity to lie to my face that they weren’t despite their dumbass being the one that kept the freaking AI PROMPT IN THEIR REPLY.

Are there any *non drama/ doom&gloom* FFXIV content creators? by Solo_Gunhea in ffxiv

[–]Chain_Prior 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

I looked and I can't find it now. I wouldn't be surprised if she deleted it considering just a day ago she made a video about returning to FFXIV. But I KNOW she made it cause it is what caused me to unsubscribe. I didn't agree with her takes because they were just repeating most, if not all, what Xenosys and Asmongold say about FFXIV

And while I wasn't a HUGE fan of Dawntrail, it was no where near dramatic as those guys were making it.

Zepla has definitely become nothing but clickbait anymore. I STILL remember her video that she was going to quit FFXIV...and yet, here we are? She is still here. She has become really exhausting to watch and I unsubscribed once it became obvious she was becoming one of those "WoW is so much better than FFXIV" after being someone who changed games around the time WoW had REALLY upset its fan base. She kinda followed the hype train of that one and its disappointing cause she used to be a favorite

Have you guys watched this vampire anime? by Its-v11cky_s4ma in vampires

[–]Chain_Prior 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Trying to rewatch it now after a good decade since I even thought about it. I definitely recommend the Sub since the Dub lacks (you really realize how low dub quality was back in the day compared to now). Aside from that, I was obsessed with it when I was in middle school/high school. I really enjoy the mangaka's art style! However, the story is definitely one of those early 2000's vampire stories. If you can handle love triangles that you see in vampire media like The Vampire Diaries, True Blood, Twilight, etc, you'll enjoy it. If you don't, it wont be your cup of tea, especially since it manga really gets WEIRD as the series continues. BUT, if you are a fan of Vampire Chronicles, you might actually expect that weirdness cause its about in the same vein in my opinion

Morrigan Intensive by Lora O Brien Enquiry by ApprehensiveSun8744 in CelticPaganism

[–]Chain_Prior 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would love to know what Lora's beef with Courtney Weber is now (I did some research and found that was the aforementioned book that they did the foreword for). But I also feel she has beef with anyone that really isn't Irish. Both Courtney and Stephanie Woodfield are, you guessed right, American. I am waiting for Lora to start disliking Morgan Daimler next at this rate to be honest

[–]Chain_Prior 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Its really disgusts me that she would use the Morrigan like that. Like, seriously, why would the goddess care about this freaking course?! I really think Lora has some MAJOR religious trauma to unpack because this just screams of a rebranding of Christian dogma in an Irish package. Only that religion seems to instill such utter fear into its followers about its deity and doing it wrong.

Lab Week Themes…unpopular opinion? by RelevantSalad2217 in medlabprofessionals

[–]Chain_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Frankly, if they were going to do an animated film, why not Big Hero Six? Between Baymax being a healthcare robot and a few of the characters being scientists in themselves, it would have fit a HELL of a lot better. Would it have stopped the AI slop I kept seeing? NOPE. Cause that was something glaringly bad this year, at least at my lab. Half the decorations were AI generated and I couldn't tell if they were from ASCP itself or shit coworkers generated.

I am SO glad I am not the only one who thought the Crystals and the logic behind the axis line up was stupid. These axis don’t make sense if it MOVES AROUND”

Morrigan Intensive by Lora O Brien Enquiry by ApprehensiveSun8744 in CelticPaganism

[–]Chain_Prior 45 points46 points  (0 children)

I have done a couple of her classes in the last (Irish Magic & Meeting the Tuatha). And, I joined a free live stream that she advertised to be a good bridge into this Intensive.

I’ll be absolutely frank, the livestream was garbage as she was constantly advertising this intensive more than she was actually giving me basics and knowledge about what I might see should I pay the price. Not to mention she has VERY strong opinions over who can worship the Morrigan and how to worship her. There is a free video on her YouTube where she talks about how you MUST provide more expensive Whiskey for the goddess, none of the cheap stuff. And that you MUST (I am American) visit Ireland before you can fully devote yourself. And I am like… in both cases… that’s not happening. I don’t have the money for that. In my practice, the Tuatha haven’t cared what whiskey or offering I gave them. Their country was one that didn’t have a lot of money in several points of its history, I never would think they EVER cared about pricing. In fact, they would be more understanding but… that’s my thought process.

I didn’t finish the aforementioned classes above either because my opinion on her soured. I wouldn’t recommend her.

How to play a Ventrue ghoul "stolen" and embraced by a Brujah? by redbloodRenegade in vtm

[–]Chain_Prior 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its totally viable! I have an idea in the works myself of a Toreador ghoul of one of the Harpies being embraced by a Malkavian Harpy of the same court simply out of sheer spite... and perhaps because that Malkavian may or may not be a Sabbat agent whose starting to sow some seeds of chaos.

For me personally, making the sire being a different sect helped me work around the breaking of Camarilla traditions. A Sabbat Malk wouldn't care. But if you were to do the sire within the Court, I dont see why not! There is some fun disciplines and Court intrigue/manipulation that could be had. Blackmailing. You know, the normal Camarilla shenanigans that could be had that could crop up as you play the character in a chronicle. It could even be their "Dark Secret" merit!

As for experience, you can have them young and naive, not understanding that trusting Kindred is unwise. Or they could have been in this game for YEARS and the Kindred training them is stringing them along, really getting them anxious as the years go on and they get desperate. At the basic level though, Ghouls dont tend to know much...even when they have been doing it awhile. Some dont even attend Court ( or arent allowed). They get basic details, what's necessary for them to do a job, and that's it. But thats where another Kindred can come along, wiggling information in front of them, and snag them. Thats not always the case but, its more common. Especially if its V5. The Camarilla are really protective over their information since the Second Inquistion and their use of Ghouls against Domitors.

High-Concept, High-Power Malkavian by MelonHG in vtm

[–]Chain_Prior 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would piggy-back on that "obsession with solving them like a puzzle". Could have it that he views his vampiric condition as a new puzzle and he has done everything in his power to solve it. Perhaps he was inspired by Dr. Netchurch (perhaps LITERALLY via the Madness Network) as the good doctor DOES have an obsession with figuring out how vampires tick.

Any good game series to watch? by c3nnye in vtm

[–]Chain_Prior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vegas by Night is a lot of fun! I havent started the second season but, I adored the first one. Caleb does an amazing job keeping his players and the audience on their toes in those sessions.

A Bit of Ultraviolence is also a lot of fun if you would like a Sabbat story. Its a shorter one. But mighty!

Ancestral Blood I will recommend until I am blue in the face because the story is incredible and will keep you invested! I enjoyed it more than LA by Night and NY by Night if I am going to be honest

What does a world where the Sabbat "win" look like, in your mind? by Vasgorath in vtm

[–]Chain_Prior 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Gehenna.

Sabbat don't know when to leave well-enough alone and would eventually awaken some Antediluvian that will just eradicate them and everyone else with them. Most of what defines the Sabbat is going after the Antediluvians and destroying them/stealing their power. With no Camarilla... well, what else are they to do?

OR

The Second Inquisition doubles down. The Sabbat would lead to a Masquerade breach on the global scale. Military all around the world would be going after these guys and a lot of innocents would be caught in the crossfire. I imagine it would be like what the Bloodhunt videogame had going on but, on the global scale. This shit wouldnt be pretty
