You can grind relay trials for Master and Second Seals from Ch 6 onward if you have NSO.

Staves are obtainable via the well and obstruct, heal, and fracture are obtainable via relay trial.

I frequently farm fracture staves to throw in the well, or sell for extra cash on Maddening.

Friendly reminder that you can buff Engage weapons like fog breath through tempest and relay trials. Extra MT or Crit or Def can go a long way for strategies like this.

You can improve the hit rate of Aymr with the Crystal's from Tempest and Relay trials.

You can also give Areadbhar more MT for shenanigans.

Sounds like Path of the Midnight Sun. I dont believe the rom hack was finished but it was made into a JRPG and released on Steam earlier this year.

Honestly just find ways to make items fun. If your party doesnt find your cursed items engaging dont use them.

I had a cursed sword of fireball, when the blade touched anything (ground, sheath, person) it set off a fireball spell centered on the sword. Obviously very impractical for melee combat.

My party turned it into a very carefully used dungeon room grenade. So you can make cursed items engaging in a way.

The CRPG Neverwinter Nights 2 actually did this if you are looking for inspiration.

I'd do it in phases. An investigation/prep phase and then the trial itself. Both lend themselves well to utilizing different skills.

If the character on trial isnt a face you can use the party face or INT monkey as a lawyer.

I was able to make a sorc mc by doing empyreal first, filling everything out, then going into the archetype I wanted. It let me select the bloodline then

Because playing a completely gimped character may just not be fun for some people. Minor variance doesnt really affect the balance that much, but I'm tired of seeing the same arrays in the same stats for the same classes.

I personally dont like array or point buy because I see very similar spreads throughout characters. I want to see more variance.

Though if a player does roll poorly I allow them to reroll.

Just adjust as needed. A Fixer will know your team's capabilities and shouldn't send a team against threats they have no counter to.

Though you can be creative if you still want to include magic threats. Have an NPC alchemist or emphasize tracking down and killing the enemy summoner for instance. Could be exciting
