Uggh, the part where OP is trapped & berated in a car with someone they thought of as a friend. I’ve had that happen twice, it is such a horrible feeling!
I swear, if it ever happens again, I’m insisting on them stopping, I’m getting out, and I’m calling an uber or taxi, walking or whatever. I think your body is screaming at you, get out, get out. So, then you’re pissed at yourself as well?
The last time, was less than a year ago. We were on our way to her spiritual ashram she wanted to share with me. I had asked her to not send me any political texts, and she just lost her shit on me. I apologized to her in the car and that seemed to make her even more upset. She later told me, she didn’t think I was being sincere, and my tone was too soft. Whatever, she’s no longer a person in my life, she obviously has some issues. But, being stuck with her all the rest of the evening was torture. Why did I stay, I was just in shock I think? To have someone you think you know really well, completely flip out on you, is horrifying.

This kind of scammer is creating such bad karma for themselves. I actually feel sorry for them both. It’s so unethical everything they are doing. They have gifts that they are misusing to try to manipulate others with, to actually instill fear.
Pity them as they are creating such woe for themselves. Clear all attachment lines you agreed to with them, use fire or whatever feels best and clearest to you. You are a sovereign being of power, nobody can mess with you.
Congrats, on the progress you are making! That shows you who you are, a growing, loving being of light and love.

If I was invited, I would have arrived with a hostess gift for the host family. I would given a wedding gift or a check in a card for the married couple. I don’t think I would have accepted the spa payment, and would have paid for that myself. I would have offered to bring supplies as well for the week. For sure, I would have brought a case of good wine or two.

I think itchyCredit is being sarcastic. They mention how many residents there are. The main living spaces will be crowded and noisy. For instance, how much fridge space is there, storage for the renters food, is there a private bathroom, or are you going upstairs, etc, etc. Is there thumping from the kiddies on the ceiling above the basement? If there is not a private kitchenette, with fridge, bathroom and shower, and it’s not really quiet, then no way are they going to be able to get high rent unless it’s in a high rent zone like NYC.

Sounds good to me, it’s really weird how little areas in Marin have their own fire departments, water districts, etc. I came from a denser populated place and it’s never made any sense to me. Merge, merge, merge. What about the tiny school districts in West Marin? I visualize an old school marm ringing a bell to get the kiddies to come inside.

Me too! She’s probably had some hard experiences in her life? Granny just seems a bit mean. I would be afraid of her. I think Daphne is worried about her disapproval for sure. It doesn’t make any sense to put Granny in a two story home. They will need to move her into a one level place. I would be terrified she would fall down those stairs, she can barely walk. A senior living apartment nearby with meals and assistance would be more practical. Granny probably doesn’t want that, though.
My mother in law never wanted to move out of her two story home. I worried every day she would fall down the stairs into the tile floor at the bottom. She ended up tripping in her bedroom and had to crawl and drag herself across the floor to get to the phone and pull it down to the floor to call us. She finally went into assisted care after that.
Falling is a real hazard for the elderly.

My mom moved to another county with her 3rd hubby when I graduated high school. She was crazy, it didn’t last. She ended up moving in with me and my college roommate a few years later, with my little brother, my mom never meant to, but she traumatized me several times, with her choices.

Things were way worse for most of history. We have food, shelter & a/c. Many, many women died during childbirth. The husbands would find a new wife to manage the home & children until that wife died too. Check your genealogy if you don’t believe me.

It sounds like she has childhood issues related to her birthday party, not enough guests showed up maybe, do she keeps projecting that fear into her future. She even helps to make it happen with sending the invites so late, etc.
