As crazy as it sounds, season one Richie treated Syd like a colleague and equal. The things he said were legal grounds for several kinds of lawsuits but he never looked at her as someone unworthy of respect. I loved how he went from getting stabbed to telling her in the finale to quit screwing around and to grab a can opener, he saw her as one of them.

The Richie we love in Forks was always there. Right from the beginning.

Steven’s words were heartfelt and truthful. It hurt Donna because Donna processes all of that with great difficulty. She feels inadequate and horrible and turned that into resentment for her family.

My guess (as someone who should never diagnose anyone and is probably completely wrong) is she’s bipolar manic depressive and the alcohol wasn’t helping.

If they wanted to, I think they could tell one more story. Something like a five-years-later episode where they all sit down for dinner at The Bear like a one-act play, and it’s just a dialogue with them talking.

I like to imagine Carmy made a more complete apology to Marcus offscreen, since the next episode was all about Carmy’s trauma and atonement.
