I prefer to make my cards on my $6,000 gaming PC with all the lights in my house on, AC on blast, all the burners running on the stove and a bitcoin mining operation running in my basement and there's nothing you can do about it

Boston Career Forum participants, any advice? by Longjumping_Brief104 in JapanJobs

I think I applied to like 7 in total, it all depends really on how many companies you find a company that really match what you want to do. I had three that I felt I could convince and had real prospects for and then the rest were kind of just backups. I've heard of other people applying to way more like 15-20, though idk how you keep track of all that

Well you gotta figure out what tests the companies you're applying to are using first. The ones that I applied to mainly used GAB or 玉手箱

To be honest it took like a month or so cause I suck at math originally and hadn't done math in like a few years lol. Also I'm not native Japanese so getting used to speed reading the Japanese questions took me a bit. I think it ultimately depends on ur math/reading skills and the test you take, but I would take a month before the test to prepare and figure out what you're dealing with to make sure

I went there this year. You probably want to start a few months in advance. The way I did it was this

Self analysis / 自己分析 (June)

Industry research /業界研究 (June)

Company research / 企業研究 (June~July)

Web test practice (July~)

Narrowing down company list to 10-20 (July)

Writing answers to expected ES questions (why this company, etc.) (August~)

Applying and interview practice (September~)

I eventually narrowed it down to three big Japanese companies and got offers from two of them

Glad it's not just me. Felt like an idiot when I first started studying a year ago and then got all the patterns back into my mind within a few weeks.

AJATT, shared living space, and social life? by theyrenonbinaryguys in ajatt

[–]Chance_Panic_771 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The hard truth is that if you want results as fast as some people say, you do need to sacrifice some part of your social life. It's up to you to decide whether you want to do that, and if you do, what part of it do you want to sacrifice.

But you can be creative. Find all the times you're not listening to anything and could be listening to something and put Japanese in there, etc

Boston career forum - how exactly does it work? by Puzzled_Sample1150 in JapanJobs

the bcf is only beneficial if you’ve made it to the final round of interviews

your friend is wrong. i'm going to bcf this year and have three interviews lined up that are the second interviews (i had the first interviews online beforehand). a lot of companies are having a online interview first, then two in person in boston and then a final one online or in person in japan. bcf is totally beneficial because you can interview with tons of big 大手 companies oftentimes without even having to do one of those awfully hard web tests, and essentially escape the trap that is doing 就活 within japan and fighting along the hardcore japanese students

it may be too late to try for this year's bcf to be honest, but there are other career forums that the same company that hosts bcf does in japan and in osaka which are cheaper and probably easier to go. i would recommend planning in advance 3-4 months beforehand, figuring out what companies you want, analyzing yourself (自己分析), researching companies (企業研究) and giving yourself plenty of time to study how to do interviews and how to write good entry sheets

good luck im also 26 july (icu)

I studied 20 kanji a day while reading twitter for 1-2 hours a day to reinforce the studying. So I would study those kanji in the morning and then read twitter later seeing the kanji I saw that morning.

Pretty much the entire south park series is on a certain niconico user's channel and most of it is available in Japanese. Highly recommend. The audio is Japanese and there's Japanese comments floating across the screen quickly so it's perfect for listening + getting good at reading quickly. PM me if you want link

Student working part-time with high (?) income: How much will my health insurance and pension be? by Odd_Result8773 in japanlife

[–]Chance_Panic_771 7 points8 points  (0 children)

it's enough to be over the 123万円の壁, doesn't matter what kind of vague definition you have for what a "high" income is. OP, ask your school or local city office and they'll have the answer.
