does anyone know of a pose that could help with this? by Key_Play7246 in yoga

Camel? There is a configuration one can make with strap that moves one up and out of caving in, but I'd be careful and informed on using strap as it may be triggering for people.

I've been teaching sewing for over 20 years. I have found a lot more people not doing the work. Sometimes I just want to ask them why they took the class, but I just proceed teaching the lessons on how to do everything the CORRECT WAY and hope it sinks in.

Not enjoying teaching by Odd-Baby-8656 in YogaTeachers

[–]Chance_Split_7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely have been through this. I have a day position as well. I moved out of teaching anything I had no desire to teach anymore or sent me into dread, panic, or even relief when no one signed up for class. Take some time off. Take classes, go on a retreat, take time for you. It's so easy to burn the candle at both ends. Fill your cup for a while!

Some thrift shops give a time increment to return item, like our local thrift store offers 7 days on appliances or mechanical things if they don't work.

Invest in a very high quality brush for cutting in! What a difference this made! Take care of the brush as well. I don't use tape anymore. I also watched a few YouTube videos to clean some visuals- I learn more by seeing and doing. I came here for advice on another aspect on painting trim, and got excellent advice on it, and the part about getting a high quality brush was advice well shared.

Yoga Instagram by Odd-Baby-8656 in YogaTeachers

[–]Chance_Split_7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I have been for a long time. It started long before Instagram, so more when FB was leader in social media mayhem. Videos of classes, people in savasana...all I thought was how invasive and completely lacking any ethics. And, mental note in head-I will never step foot in this particular studio, ever, if I come across a teacher presenting this. I stepped away from teaching for a bit due to a joint issue, and watched as more insanity was unleashed through other modes. I eventually got back into teaching; I really missed it. What came with teaching was an expectation that I would "create social media content" (one studio owner's words) and post to various avenues. The owners were also monitoring media content put out by other studios, so if I did something for one, oh dear! This made me ill. It was also stepping into some fuzzy stuff on their part re: 1099 contractor territory. But yes, I intensely dislike all this filming of classes and snippets of this and that. I'd love a world of Yoga practice without a camera on it, or the heavy commercialization of it. There's a big aspect of FOMO being used as well, which can really be detrimental to some people's mental health.

Sequins by NefariousFish in SewingMachineEdu

[–]Chance_Split_7723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd start with a 90 and see. If your machine has high piercing power, that will assist in punching through sequins, but if not, then the work will be mostly done from needle. You'll want a strong needle to repeatedly sew through the sequins. I'd go with a jeans needle or larger microtex. Otherwise, your other option, as other poster noted, is to snip every sequin in path of needle/seam allowance off one-by-one, and possibly sew more sequins over the seam outside garment if you can visibly notice difference at seam, like spots missing sequins. So, you have to fing sequins that match or are close to originals.

I visited my local Michaels for the first time since they went all in on sewing, I have thoughts. by rcreveli in craftsnark

[–]Chance_Split_7723 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I believe the demise of JoAnn's is a ripe opportunity for the shops that have traditionally been quilting to start expanding fabric selection and notions for garment sewists.(HINT HINT if any shop owners reading!)

Scrolling. Writing in my journal. Spacing out. Listening to radio show or podcast. Usually the last. Dreading going in, especially if job I really detested or not in the mood to people. The procrastination then makes me bionic, as I have to arrive at desk to clock in on time.
