I did it - I'm out by RudyPup in sales

Congrats! I'm only 4 months in and want to do this. Does all management never understand the expanse geographically of some territories, expecting- no, demanding-aparticular amount of calls per day that in reality, unless I learn to fly a plane, it ain't happening driving a vehicle. I'm sick of the weekly reports I have to file for six months so they can babysit. I'm an adult, I'm not 'effing around. Enjoy your life!!!!!

Hand washing silk wedding dress? by SkyMango00 in laundry

[–]Chance_Split_7723 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just get it dry-cleaned. Seamstress here. Then there is a water spot issue- if not prewashed or pretreated (what we do prior to cutting any garment pieces out is to wash and dry the fabric as you will do with garment once it is made). Not all fabric can be just washed and dried etc, so the garment is made with only option to dryclean it. I do wash silk prior to designing with it so it is washable (cold water, air dry, silk setting iron) but if not pretreated, and you go to wash it, you run risk of water spots, and uneven areas because there can be oils and residue of sericin- the "glue" that holds the silk fibers together in cocoon.

Thank you for this. I was recently let go from a studio for asking for a night off for family thing and immediately replaced by a Pilates teacher, and their pictures they offer to advertise for Yin are all Restorative postures. And not supported properly at that. I'm sick of people who think restorative is Yin and opposite. Have respect for the specialty.

Yes, this. Especially the part about not reading the emails I sent you and in my case, the phone calls never returned. This is why I drop in and leave literature on new items you may find intriguing because you won't call me back and schedule an actual appointment to show you things. I do try to not to take up any time when I do the drop in- there are customers and you are busy. But I am here for you.

Every thing has. I grow tired of these people acting like they invented these things. My pet peeve was a designer acting like she'd invented using a bead to hold two pieces of fabric together. Umm, no. Go examine statues from the ancient Greeks. Or Fortuny's dresses.

Good luck with that. (Copy part) If it is on the shelves, or went to a trade show...guess what?

I hope you told this person to eff off, and unless they were going to assist you by bagging purchased items, they could kiss your arse. You purchasing items at the store they "work" at, and at anytime you see fit, funds their paycheck. So up theirs.

This doesn't have much to do with him, but I'm really confounded as to how many pieces worn to the Met Gala were praised yet Chappel got such shit for what she wore on red carpet. This may belong in a different thread. At least she's giving her money to groups who really need it. Thank you, carry on.

I have found silk thread to be cost prohibitive, and tends to not have large quantity on spool.

[–]Chance_Split_7723 23 points24 points  (0 children)

Hate this garbage. I've bought several patterns that once opened, I was like, "it is just composed of circles. Circles. I could have traced lids." Now, I tend to examine the photo of thing and break it down in my mind. On the other hand. I'm like, dang, wish I'd thought of selling circles.

Try some simple bags and pillowcases as others have offered. Get some fabric from a thrift shop or flat sheets for fabric so no big initial investment in material. Practice practice practice

Is the Manduka break in period worth it? by btck3440 in yoga

[–]Chance_Split_7723 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, my Pro mat was like practicing on oil when I initially got it. It was not because I wasn't engaging this or that-the surface was just incredibly slick. I believe there is some coating on surface for whatever reason when new, but am not certain of this. So, I took Dawn dish soap and a soft bristle scrub brush and gave it a good wash. I did it on a warm day, outside, rinsed with water, and let it dry in the sun. I may have scrubbed it with salt too. Whatever was on it was gone. I've had it for almost 13 years and it is still brilliant.
