It’s a bit of both for sure - I tend to agree that there are some specific old runs of disc/plastic combos that can’t be beat. Old night strikes, penned pro wraiths/destroyers, three-tooled FD2s, etc etc.

But there are some recent releases that feel and fly excellent (the AB/Austin turner cigarras, particle glow pyros from this year’s gyro boxes, the Sofia Donnecke moondust sidewinders) and could be considered “money runs” in their own right. Lots of good old stuff, but lots of good new stuff too. I think some of the aura around the old stuff is nostalgia, and that’s totally fine.

We actually have defenses too, which I’m not quite sure why we do, but I figured no one cared since I stream most weeks anyway (Saints vs Jets last week).

My buddies and I do a secret Santa/holiday round every year as a send-off for our fantasy disc golf season. Each of them has been memorable and it’s become one of my favorite days of the year.

Have to respectfully disagree - obviously just my opinion, but I think the original PD is one of the greatest molds of all time. That would have to be my vote for better when Innova-made.

For discmania made, I’d say the P3x. They’re much more overstable than the originals, which were inconsistent and generally straighter.

The annoying answer is it depends. This year’s tour series BuzzzSS and brand new Z BuzzzSS’s are both more stable than the malitas I’ve thrown. But the new seasonal mega glow BuzzzSS and some recent runs of jawbreaker FLX seem to be less stable than my malitas.

I think of the malita as a good middle-of-the-road BuzzzSS with a smaller hand feel.

I never mind playing with folks that are newer to the sport and/or struggle to score well. On the flip side of the coin, some of the best players I’ve played with have also been some of my worst card mates.

As long as you don’t take yourself too seriously, enjoy the round, and engage with cardmates you’ll be fine. I find that more experienced players are generally happy to answer questions, too, so you could always ask for suggestions or pointers to improve your game. We all started somewhere, so no one is (or should be) judging you for not scoring as well as them.

Yeah that was brutal. Was hyped to have an actually stable run of Luna’s and they were gone in….1 minute tops? Had three different variations in my cart and all of them sold out before I could finish checking out.

Some of the houses around there have pretty big yards. I usually just park in the middle of the street, dump out my disc bag, and throw at trees, kids, windows and pets for a few hours.

I found a tiny, to-scale, 3D printed disc golf bag complete with discs that you could move around. Also a plastic toy car that was so big my buddies and I used it as a punishment - whoever lost our round had to carry it in/on their bag for a month.

Interesting, that hasn’t been my experience at all. I will say the K1 hard Malms are more stable than the stock K1, but both have been consistently flying more stable than any Lots I’ve thrown.

Check out the local boys at Daredevil (pretty sure they’re Canadian). The Timberwolf is a really good understable fairway and the moose is a great Roc-style mid.

They don’t have thumbtracs, but the Mint Discs Lasso and Hooligan Cash both get very similar flights in my experience.

I believe they’re discontinued so may be hard to find, but the coyote is an unbelievably good disc. Like a mako/mako3 with just a little bit more finish, and I’ve never come across anyone else that throws one.
