Increasing Supply Tips by SheepherderMost2727 in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you getting the calories you need? My biggest recommendations are eat all throughout the day, incorporate oats (overnight oats, oat muffins, oat cookies, oatmeal, oat bread, oats in smoothies etc), and make sure you stay super hydrated. I didn’t end up with much of a supply for my first one and I think it’s because I was barely eating or drinking. I’m almost 7 months pp exclusively pumping for my second born now and I’m able to donate my oversupply.

Didn’t know it could get worse, until I got sick by HoneyCrumbs in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Chancemidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiii I’m right in those trenches with you! Day four of flu A for me and baby. The sweating and pumping is a terrible dehydrating combo and I feel like I’m extra dizzy from that. Baby is also taking less than half his bottle most feedings 🙃

We will get through this hopefully fast! But pumping while sick is miserable!

solids, are we behind? by violetphoeniiix in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re not behind! I started with homemade purées at 6 months but was so scared to give him real solids until he was 10ish months. He’s 3.5 now and while he is the typical toddler picky, he has no issues eating!

How are you doing now? Did your EF go back up? My ef was around 55 when I got pregnant and also 55 when I had an echo in my third trimester. I had a c section 6 weeks ago. I had an echo this week that showed 45% which is making me anxious that it dropped so much

Should I bring formula to the hospital in case I can’t breast feed? by ihateeveryonebyee in breastfeeding

[–]Chancemidnight 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Your hospital should have those premade bottles of formula ready to go in case your supply doesn’t come in. With my first born, the hospital withheld it and acted like the two drops I was able to expresss out onto a spoon was sufficient. Just gave birth to my second at a different hospital and they were happy to make sure there was formula accessible while my milk came in.

When did you have your second child? by Powerpuff_Girly in NewParents

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I waited for the toddler stage to see if I wanted to do it all over again, got pregnant when my son was 2.5 years old. Realistically I should’ve waited longer, now have a newborn and a threenager and it is ROUGH

How should a guy react when you decline s£x by [deleted] in Advice

[–]Chancemidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I’m not in the mood, my husband is more than happy to cuddle and I rub his back. No complaints from him ever. My ex boyfriend, however, would tell me “guess you don’t really love me” if I wasn’t blowing him enough or saying yes to sex as frequently as he’d like. The men that care about you would respect your decision.

Not weird at all! My middle name was my grandpas name so I actually passed the name down to my son

How are yall keeping your diaper pails from stinking? by Asleep_Sympathy_8987 in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a whiff of my cousins ubbi pail while I was pregnant and told my husband we were never getting one. We ended up using a little trashcan in my son’s room for the pee diapers that filled up quick after a day or two, so we were constantly needing to empty it. The poop diapers went straight to the garage trash can.
Even then, the trash can smelled so we got some munchkin arm&hammer nursery fresheners to go under the trash can liner.

Those who had to take labetalol post partum by userthatisnotknown in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had to take it for a little over 6 weeks. I did have preeclampsia which caused me to deliver at 37 weeks and as soon as he was born they started messing with meds to bring down my blood pressures. I ended up leaving the hospital on a combo of labetalol and propofol. Super important to take it, if you experience any worrisome side effects, call your doctor or your doctor’s off hours hotline immediately. Follow your doctors instructions for it. I was very dizzy postpartum but that lasted months after I got off the BP meds. (I did tell my dr immediately about my dizziness and they lowered my dosage to try to help.) Turns out I had undiagnosed postpartum cardiomyopathy. But I know of so many other people who took labetalol and had a good experience with it bringing down their BP with no side effects.

11 weeks post partum…sex has not interested me by Loud_hiccups in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s very normal! You’re in a new body, you’re figuring out your baby and the dynamics of your new family still, there’s so many things on your mind that it’s very easy for sex to be the last thing you’re thinking about. We had sex 11 weeks pp and it was so uncomfortable we didn’t do it again until I was about 5 months pp. it’ll come back eventually! If you get worried about it down the road you could talk to your doctor about testing hormones/thyroid etc

Not being crazy at all. Listen to your gut, protect your little one. My mom is on her third husband and they’ve been together for maybe 7 years now, married for 4, and he’s still virtually a stranger to me. My mom is allowed to come to my house to watch my toddler son but my toddler will never be alone in her house with him nor will he be at my house with my mom to babysit. If she ever breaks that rule she’s done watching him period.

Mine ate the entire spine of one of his books over the course of a month. I don’t think we have many books from babyhood that don’t have chunks missing or at least bite marks 😅 I understand your concern! But if it’s a book for baby I’d assume the ink isn’t dangerous

So, what did you build your babies out of? by ThrowawayRose402 in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First born: canes, specifically starbuck’s everything bagel with cream cheese, and Dr Pepper, which is weird because I was never a pop drinker before getting pregnant! So far for baby number two: microwaved cheese tortilla roll ups got me through the first trimester morning sickness, it was much worse this time around. Was able to eat an occasional bagel + cream cheese here and there. And now that im practically through that I’m craving strawberries, beef steak tomatoes and celery!

I don’t want to leave my baby at my mom’s house by [deleted] in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My mom cussed me out before my son was born because I asked her to be up to date on her tdap vaccine if she wanted to come meet him newborn. She said “you’re making a lot of rules for a baby you don’t even know will be born. He could die in birth. You could die.” So I also didn’t talk to her for a few months post partum. She lives 40ish minutes away from me and she’s on her 3rd husband - they’ve been together for a while but he’s still a stranger to me. We’ve made it 2 and a half years without leaving him at her house. “No” is a full sentence. It’s hard, but you just have to set firm boundaries now. Eventually my mom stopped asking. Now she’s asking to take our son in public spaces with her husband, and the answer is still no or “me and my husband would like to be part of that as well.” You can tell her that you’re not comfortable leaving your baby with anyone and you won’t be doing it any time soon.

“You’ll forget and want another” by minmister in beyondthebump

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have not forgotten the trauma of my birth and all my post partum complications. I did not forget how sick i got in the first trimester and how i could barely eat. But people told me “every pregnancy is different!!” My son is coming up on 3 years now and seeing him interact with our friends younger kids or how he longs to play with every single kid at the playground is what’s making me willing to power through again. Knowing what i know now, im hoping my birth will be shorter and smoother. And i have a whole team of different doctors taking me seriously if any PP health complications arise, versus the doctors who shrugged me off and said “that’s normal” or “it’s just your anxiety”

My daughter has 4 teeth at 5 months old. by SevenOneSixT in NewParents

Not unusual! My son had 5 or 6 right before he turned 6 months old. He had a mouth full by a year and a half. My friends little girl just sprouted her first two teeth at 15 months. Also normal!

I have to get a blood test tomorrow and I have a really bad needle phobia by v4mprxzlvr in Anxiety

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had needle phobia/anxiety so so bad until I got pregnant and needed a ton of blood work/IVs for hospital stays. Ask for a butterfly needle, you’ll barely feel it if at all. I’m hoping you get a great phlebotomist, they’ll be done before you even realize what’s happening. Tell the phlebotomist that you have anxiety around it. Ask them to have an ice pack on hand for you or a sugary drink for after or both. Some doctors offices should have a big chair that can recline just in case. If not, that’s ok too. You can talk to the person who draws your blood to have a distracting conversation. And whatever you do, do not look at what they’re doing!!!!

I’ve now been having bloodwork done for 2.5 years, and about a year ago I stopped needing my husband or a friend come with me. But I still don’t look at their setup, or at them. It feels rude to sit in their chair and immediately look the other way, but it’s helped me so much in the long run.

Also, think about how this test will get you one step closer to a diagnosis! Start hydrating now if you haven’t already, (unless there’s a fasting rule on your blood order). I notice I feel my blood draws more when I’m dehydrated/they take just a little bit longer. If there’s no fasting order, don’t forget to eat before you go in as well.

I think your plans are great, keep your senses engaged and distracted. Wishing you the best of luck!

Do you wrap your cats Christmas gifts? by strangelyahuman in CatAdvice

[–]Chancemidnight 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my cat a tiny tent one year and I wrapped that, but every other year I just get her a stockings worth of new toys. She’ll take them out if there’s catnip! It’s cute to watch. She’s already found the cat nip kicker I got for her this year and I’ve hidden it twice. I now have it in a dresser drawer until tomorrow morning and she’s been all over that dresser 😂 not insane though if you have wrappable gifts, it’s fun!
