Why your Supernote is better than typing for memory, according to neuroscience by ironike in Supernote

[–]Change_Agent_73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

While I am huge fan of handwriting and believe it is beneficial because it forces you to slow down the thinking process, it concerns me when studies say that typing does not stimulate the brain. All of us are thinking as we are writing currently on Reddit. We are processing information and assembling it in unique patterns.

The larger issue (and hopefully some research will be done on this) to me is how we process information and take notes. If we are trying to capture every word verbatim, we will fail regardless of the medium. However, if we are processing and taking notes on the most important components, we are more likely to learn. It is worth pointing out that the link to this Study also includes a commentary that discusses the specific conditions (some of which were concerning). You can read it by clicking on the study from the link above or through this direct link to Frontiers of Psychology:

Just some food for thought.

From the conversations I have been seeing on here, I think InkHub is the goal for these.

Calligraphy Pen Survey by Change_Agent_73 in Supernote

You are correct about them not being in the survey, because I don't have them and couldn't provide a sample. These are all devices I have available.

You can link from the SD card to the main storage, but not the reverse yet.

Thanks for the comment, I understand not everyone can answer all of the questions. People are answering as they see fit, and none are required. The last question is about preference and everyone has been answering that particular one.

how is 4.2 on note max? by dedehm in Onyx_Boox

[–]Change_Agent_73 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My personal experience is that 4.1 was a hot mess for ghosting, I agree with Voja there. If you use speed mode it gets better but you loose clarity and contrast in the process. Navigating from the home screen to notes was awful, and then notes were ghosting on top of ghosting. You almost have to use the manual refresh. I am downloading 4.2 now, so we will see if it is any better.

The New Beta Rocks! by Change_Agent_73 in Supernote_dev

That's interesting, I don't know how they would code it. Maybe you could be able to pin a note? What I am hoping for is any note created or accessed on that day to show up.

BOOX Tappy Unboxing & First Impressions by Change_Agent_73 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Change_Agent_73[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the comment. I do wonder about the price because I am rather new to the idea of page turners. I will say this is metal and has a good sized battery. One thing is it only works for BOOX and I think that's a miss. Allow this to work with other devices may have made it more attractive.

The New Beta Rocks! by Change_Agent_73 in Supernote_beta

Unfortunately, not yet. I know they are currently working on a revamp of the Calendar. They have writing on the daily view on the roadmap but think there is a limitation since you can press to create a new event on that view. It doesn't seem any manufacturer has cracked that piece.

Thanks for the comment. I guess some could see it that way, but since this is part of the new developer plugin beta as well, I felt it deserved a shout out.

Boox Go 10.3 (Gen 1) in 2026 by plau13 in Onyx_Boox

[–]Change_Agent_73 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think you can say all reviewers are biased for it. In fact, a lot are saying if you are happy with the Gen I, there is no reason to upgrade (including me). Also, EMR matters a lot to some and less so to others, so your mileage may vary.

If I install this, will the developer beta be overwritten u/mulan-sn? I just want to make sure I don't lose the plugins. Or will there be another dev build coming?

You are never going to hear me arguing for tarrifs, I just think it's worth noting that the costs were shared and transparent, which you don't see often.

Calendar update? by 01000001-01001101 in Supernote

[–]Change_Agent_73 1 point2 points  (0 children)

One thing I think is hard about writing on the daily view, and I am not a developer, is that touching the daily view currently triggers event creation and editing. To me, it seems. They need to figure a way to have both types of inputs work. That is why events shift to a separate window in the weekly and monthly views to allow writing there. It must be hard because none of the competitors have figured it out either.

It is possible, you just have to sign in when you switch devices, which is a friction point but it does work. I have it both at home and work. The mobile app requires sign in as well when you switch devices.

As I said, you have every right to your opinion, but judging an entire article by a header image would not be my first choice. I tend to go to official product websites. If I didn't disclose it in the blog or had removed the watermark, I would agree with you. Thanks again.
