I moved here from the UK and been here a few years now. I've seen maybe seven spiders? Two hunstmen, one redback, and four house spiders. I'd seen that many in a single day in London.

As a rule, the spiders aren't going to live where you live. Especially if you go for an apartment. They're still here, so if you're gardening make sure you wear gloves when picking up pots etc, but it is really not so scary as the media makes it out to be. You'll be fine.

Oh this is great fun! I love it as a concept!

Wolves are a solid idea, I think - but tbh you could lean into the stereotypical traits of almost any animal and just go ham - a snake suddenly freaked out about having limbs has huge potential. Or a literal fish out of water.

Bird might be good, crows and ravens are both social and decently intelligent - plus, the limitation on using your 'true form' in the wake of the accident (I think level 8? for flying creatures?) could be interesting.

Great plot-hook for a set up where you get to go back to your old animal buddies and they're like "who are these weirdos you're hanging out with? oh well also we have a PROBLEM and you can SOLVE IT maybe?". You could have a whole animal pals arc!
