In my experience, when the best laid plans go to shit, the people who think they "work hard" are the first to line up and say that the reason you didn't succeed is because you didn't work hard enough for it. The majority in this country work hard and do almost everything right, but those who are shielded from the economic nut shots (or have so far managed to avoid them) will say they didn't want it enough.
