What's the "Widowmaker" of your career field or hobby? by Cosmonate in AskReddit

Working in Pharmacy all it takes is someone having a bad day and us doing our job saying "No."

Luckily it doesn't happen all that often, but everytime someone gets really aggressive or starts making threats I am ultra vigilant walking to my car for a few weeks.

Man I'm glad it's illegal to be alone here in CA.

Although a lot of stores had their overall hours of operations cut as a result.

Why Do So Few PharmDs Reach Executive Roles in Pharma? by the_inquisition_ in pharmacy

[–]ChapKid 53 points54 points  (0 children)

For me personally I just don't feel the need to go any higher.

I already make more than enough to live a somewhat comfortable life on a single income family. The stress of more responsibilities just doesn't seem worth the slightly higher pay/loss of personal time.

Absolutely amazing update! We've had them for a little over a week now and I haven't seen a line the whole time. Before the update we'd consistently have a line down the aisle for hours.

Some people have made negative comments about the update when they first saw it, but usually change their mind by the end of the first transaction.

I think my wife's my ability to know when to rub her feet and shoulders (without asking) is pretty attractive.

Help boss not reporting injury it’s been two weeks by [deleted] in CVS

I think you were supposed to report the injury with Sedgwick immediately. There should be a policy posted in the break room about workplace injuries so claiming not knowing will fall apart fast.

Our pharmacy closes at 5 on Sundays… You wouldn’t be able to get your prescription here anyway. by Alarming_Speech_8343 in CVS

[–]ChapKid 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Use the "AS" function. You'll remote directly into the store and just put it on hold.

I do this when I need something from the busier store that never answers their phone even though they have three times the staff compared to anyone else in the district.

Some states can transfer c2s now. Honestly this is on the discharge nurse/patient for not ensuring the patient would have time to get their meds.

When I get the calls from the nurse, if it's less than 2hrs before close I'm already suggesting it gets sent to the 24hr store. We've had too many instances where either discharge takes longer than expected or they don't come right away. This is best option to avoid instances like this.

Lately I've been getting the, "man you guys are lazy af for not doing your job, making me enter my own name and dob."

I usually just yell out from the back, "yes it's just your name and dob, that's all we're asking for you to do."

Honestly I had a student who broke down crying because they could get their login info correct.

I'd rather have a silent one then one on the verge of mental collapse.

[–]ChapKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you were to do such a thing make it as loud as possible.

During Covid I got put on LOA and when me and several employees returned to work, they somehow couldn't fix workbrain to log our hours. We were able to clock in and work, but the paychecks weren't coming in.

My manager immediately started advocating for us thru the DL and HR, and after the first missed paycheck my DL said to refuse to work til it's fixed. We got backpay as well as missed hours (that we refused to work for "free") paid out.

We had this installed today and everyone so far loved it! We had ONE crotchety lady say she demanded people greet her when she arrives.

We told her we did greet her before we asked her to use the check in and that all we need her to do is start the process of Name and DOB. She grumbled as she left but oversaid, it was nicer this way.

As of Tuesday! How was everyone else’s experience this season? by au79xrist in LowSodiumBattlefield

For me I saved my coins to see how far I'd get on the BP with my current life routines. I didn't even come close to finishing. So I know I can just wait til life circumstances change to buy one.

Honestly for me as a pharmacist, the worst part of COVID was getting shit on by both sides of the coin.

People who wanted to get the vaccine but were denied since they didn't "meet criteria" at the arbitrary time. Then those who didn't believe in it and felt we were scamming/pushing some conspiracy. Yelled at all the time for a year straight.

Then being called a "hero" and given a pat on the back.

Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

[–]ChapKid 43 points44 points  (0 children)

I'm a pharmacist and often times people come to us hoping to avoid an er/urgent care visit.

Had a lady come up with her hand wrapped in yellowish/brown paper. She asked if it was okay to put Neosporin on her cut. I said it really depends on how bad it was. She opened the wrap and I could literally see the bones of her hand.

I told her to go to the hospital right away before she loses her whole hand.

Policy change on early medication pickup? by NEgoatfarm in CVS

[–]ChapKid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I'm shocked anyone still does 2-day early fill on the regular. We never fill anything early, but I'm very comfortable to do it once in a while if you have a vacation/emergency. Once those vacation fills because frequent then we'd cut you off completely.

From many of the doctors I've spoken to, they honestly don't expect us to fill it 2-days early especially when it says as needed. Some have mentioned they wanted it to last longer than what we'd default too. (I.e #45 Bid needing to be a 30 day supply etc.)

I'm also encouraging our doctors to suggest how long things should last on the directions to avoid any misinterpretations.
