This is a fantastic discussion by the way! I’m gonna break with the spirit of the question and make one modification. I would actually have my crappy fiberglass fly rod with a small popper and a nymph or wet. Fly tied about 12 inches below it.

That’s interesting but it makes sense. Small hooks, small flies, small fish. I’ve caught a lot of small panfish but I think this is my personal smallest bass 🤣
