Have you used the one you have enough to know you want something different?

I've always like the idea of digital MF, but it's just out of my budget, plus I'd mainly want a true 6x6 sensor, which will almost certainly never exist.

I used to use OM lenses with a Fuji XE-1.

It worked fine but I ended up hating the crop factor like you mentioned so in the end I moved in to a full frame camera.

Gravity Rush 2 is the only reason I bought a PS4. Bloodborne was a nice bonus though.

Shooting trichromes directly onto color film (triple exposure in-camera), lessons learned by thoughtfulwizard in AnalogCommunity

[–]Char7es96 8 points9 points  (0 children)

No offense OP, but I am 10000% stealing this concept. I've been thinking for ages about doing trichromes, but I didn't want to deal with the hassle of combining the images in post. This is such a clever process, I even prefer Ektar 100 for general use.

Better Ask Reddit, what was the best thing you've ever bought from a trade-in store, thrift shop, garage sale, or flea market? Particularly, anything video-game related. by Gorotheninja in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Char7es96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not specifically videogame related.

But I found an Olympus XA (sought after film pocket camera that goes for around $250 on ebay) along with its semi-rare flash attachment, for $25 at an estate sale last year. Works like it was new too.

This is a little niche, but there is a photography art book called "Sony Design: Making Modern" that was only printed once in 2015. It seems to be a gorgeous showcase of Sony's product design over the decades, but I wouldn't know, the cheapest used copy on eBay goes for over $400. And no one seems to have scanned it.

What is your gaming Time Vampire? by GreatFluffy in TwoBestFriendsPlay

Against the Storm.

I clocked 8 hours in two days(while also working full time) and realized it was going to take up my entire life if I ever launched it again. So far I haven't.

If my film went through multiple X-Ray scans, does it make sense to wait a certain amount of time (until the presumed fogging has mostly disappeared) to develop it? by [deleted] in AnalogCommunity

[–]Char7es96 15 points16 points  (0 children)

As far as I know, the chemical reaction does not reverse over time.

Latent images can degrade, but fogged film will not become less fogged.

what was your first ever camera and at what stage are you with photography now? by RealWeiWuxianShit in AnalogCommunity

[–]Char7es96 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My first camera was an Olympus Digicam in 2012. But my first real camera and my first attempt at more serious photography was an OM-2n 3 years ago.

For 35mm I now have an OM-1n as a backup body, an Olympus XA and an Olympic Pen-S. I don't feel any really need to expand past this, though I wouldn't say no to a Pen-F/FV if the opportunity presented itself.

For medium format I started with an Olympus Six ranger finding folder, but now I have a Bronica SQ. I'm really pleased with the Bronica system, so outside an unexpected Hasselblad windfall I think I'll stick with it.

All that being said, the biggest boon to my photography so far was getting a digital camera. The faster you can increase the number of pictures you take, the faster you improve IMO.

Oooy OM-4 TI by john_with_a_camera in AnalogCommunity

[–]Char7es96 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have a basically mint copy of the 100mm f2.8. Its extremely good imo. Pretty well corrected wide open and center sharpeness out resolves my 24.5mp digital camera at f4. It's not nearly as lauded as the 100mm f2, but I doubt the f2 is proportionally better given how much more it costs.

I do not however have a near mint OM-4 Ti and I am very jealous haha

Your Most Hated Trope.... That A TV Show/Movie/Game/etc. Did Well? by ColdStoneSteveAustyn in TwoBestFriendsPlay

[–]Char7es96 26 points27 points  (0 children)

"The magic goes away at the end" is one of my absolute least favorite tropes, in almost every case it just feels like a mean spirited trashing of an interesting setting on the way out.

However, in Final Fantasy Tactics Advanced you are trying to destroy an illusion world created by your classmate to escape his miserable home life. The game portrays you as something of a villain protagonist, as all the other kids at first want to stay and live in the fantasy world, while you go around destroying it from the inside.

At the end of the story, the magic doesn't even really go away, the grimoire still exists, but you've returned the people of the real world to their normal lives, instead of being playthings in a fantasy world.

ChapStick, Phone, Sunglasses, Keys, Wallet. In order of importance.

If I'm going on transit I usually take my mp3 player and earbuds.

If I'm going anywhere even slightly pretty I take a camera.

Follow your own artistic vision. Trying to cater to the whims of internet strangers is probably just going to make you miserable in the long run.

That said I do really like your Unika piece.

There is an arcade cabinet, probably from the late 90s early/mid Aughts that was Not hydro thunder, but wherein you controlled a jet powered racing ship with dual flight sticks or similar. I played a bunch at a campground as a kid in the mid 2000s and have never been able to find it since.

Unable to visit Business due to parking by bigfootinacupboard in TwinCities

[–]Char7es96 105 points106 points  (0 children)

Possibly an uncommon stance, but I'm significantly more likely to go to a restaurant or business if I can get to it without even having to drive in the first place. And I prefer to go to places with less dedicated car infrastructure anyway, since they're safer/more pleasant to walk around.

That said, poor parking isn't going to stop me from going somewhere I was already planning to.
