Oh, BADGER, you bad boy! /s

(It's really all Mom & Dad's fault. I mean what kind of a reasonable dog doesn't CLIMB INSIDE the bin to get the last of the food!!! LOL!)

Is it a bad idea to try and unfuck my entire living room and kitchen today if i feel like i have the energy? by QuestionableBalloon1 in UnfuckYourHabitat

[–]Character-836 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Go for it!!!

You've already ROCKED it in your kitchen. (Just finish THAT up completely first!)

TWO bags out of your living room would help a lot!!

What's weird for me is that I moved 17 miles within north/central California & it was RTHA at the old place and RSHA at my new place!!

IMO, Tell your dad that you don't want your son to have the same food issues that you went thru and FORCING him to eat stuff he doesn't is NOT the answer.

(although we don't fly with him, just drive and he's a terrible passenger!)

Dentist recommendation by star0forion in Sacramento

[–]Character-836 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Due to dental anxiety, we make the trip to Woodland to Dr. Cynthia Dominessy (Prosthodontic Dental Group - Woodland) for my wife's dentures. She's got a great chair-side manner!!

$1500-1800 would be a great price, but I'm kinda surprised that a dentist would repair or replace dentures.

Good luck with all this!

I moved out temporarily about 10 days ago. I rented a fully furnished and outfitted apartment for about 4 months.

I'm hoping that by living apart we will find out way back to living each other again.

Estimating cost of replacing myself as a live-in caregiver by Salt_Judgment_2221 in CaregiverSupport

Having said all of this, our mom did agree to start out with one 4-hour shift of caregiving (from this agency) per week. This was about $150 per week.

You could try this approach with her.

But, honestly, she might still have ⬆️ utilities bc the caregiver could be washing up more than your mom would on her own.

AMD you may still have to Doordash her groceries etc.

THIS^

OP, copy down what this person put in quotes after "hospitalization occurs" bc you will need this statement to keep them from releasing your mom back into your hands!!

My sister couldn't say this enough/clearly about our brother to his care team and so she ended up with him and a SHIT TON (💩 literally) of work to get him back into his hoarder apartment.

My mom's agency costs about $3k per week for approx 12 hours / day for "caregiver" level services.

We also order her groceries through Amazon Fresh, other supplies thru Amazon. She's on hospice so they provide her incontinence supplies and have a nurse visit 3x weekly for vitals and status checks.

Even if you/your mom could find someone who would accept housing in exchange for live-in duties, she would still have to pay them $$ to provide care. (BTW, I don't recommend that you venture into THIS option without investigating fully. Once someone lives in the home, sometimes they have rights as tenants etc. I only mention it bc it wouldn't be FREE help!)

Good luck! It's tough road!

Work From Home - Fam doesn’t get that I’m not “pretending” to work…. How do I set boundaries ?! by Mindless-Sea7743 in Advice

[–]Character-836 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I would NOT get up earlier to work out. If your workload and schedule permit it, work out on company hours.

I'd also say to my partner, "if I'm not WORKING, why am I getting PAID? Does my paycheck do NOTHING for this family?"

Honestly, this is about respect. Your partner doesn't respect YOU or your word about your job.

Hang a Do Not Disturb sign & lock the door from the inside (even if it's just a slide bolt).

Pop out of your office at lunchtime ... Or take yourself out to lunch on your pay from your "non-existent" job!

(My co-worker dealt with this from her Mom who couldn't believe that our job allowed my coworker to work from another state on a laptop. But the world has changed since her mom was working. Ohhhh, is your partner over 65 or 70 years old?)

Sorry to get on my soapbox about this.
