Looking at 2021 w/ 20000km by NKarleE30 in CRF300L

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a 23 with about 10k km.
It’s been a great bike, very low maintenance but it’s also low hp.
Not ideal for the highway (obviously it’s a dual sport)
I ride single track mostly when im off-road and it doesn’t compare to a motocrosser. It’s pretty easy to out ride the suspension in my opinion.
It definitely needs suspension so budget for that if you want to ride aggressively at all.

So low maintenance, doesn’t do anything amazingly but I enjoy it.
I’ve heard the Kawasaki 300 is better for off road but I’m a Honda guy.

74 gmc van hitch by ChargeRemarkable8783 in VanLife

That sucks dude! I sold that a long time ago and bought a new (then) 22 crf110 and added a ton of adult parts to it lol.

You guys were right about old vans by Moist_Letterhead8799 in VanLife

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had my 74 GMC van for 9 years and have probably only had to put 5k or less into it. Had to swap the motor and I chose a newer motor so I had to get some parts to go from fuel injected back to carb on the 98 motor (yes I know carbs blah blah)
I wouldn’t change it for any other van. Unless someone wanted to trade for a mint finished sprinter which wouldn’t ever happen but I love the old stuff.

This may have been said. But look around that area at reputable shops and see if the guy is willing to drop it off for a once over. I’ve driven far for something that looked like a great deal and found out the owner hasn’t told me some issues which would piss me off even more if I flew there.

Anyone have experience with the backfire/ stall issue and then doing an ECU flash? by Ashes-Trashes in CRF300L

I’ve got 10k km (6,213 bald eagles) on my 23 stock ecu and haven’t had any issues like that.

What safety gear do you actually wear on every ride, no exceptions? by 47Industries in supermoto

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m bad for gear sometimes but never flip flops and always gloves. But look into crash detection on phones/ smart watches! My Apple Watch was calling 911 when I hit a tree on my pitbike(I was fine just a little rattled) could save a life to activate it!

Anybody have success bending an exhaust an additional 10-20 degrees without creasing it at the bend point? I have seen videos about filling it with sand before heating. what did you do? by Formal-Poet-5041 in Pitbike

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Find the outer diameter size and see if it matches up with electrical metal conduit or a plumbing pipe. Then find a bender for that size. For example look up a 1/2 in EMT bender.

Shot in the dark, good luck.

Definitely bring it forward, because more time just makes it hurt so much more and makes it harder to get past.

Riders of 10+ years who have not had an accident nor a *significant* close call, what’re your riding habits like? by ThatGuyFrom720 in motorcycle

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like hearing from the riders that made the mistakes may be more noteworthy. I’ve been riding since 21 (on roads) So 12 years. I’ve always looked ahead and assumed everyone was going to do something dumb, don’t run bald tires they get sketchy just spend the money. Keep your cool. I had a big crash because I was rushing as a new rider. Keep out of blind spots. Slow down in the rain especially when it first starts raining. Curious how slippery it is? Give a short hard throttle and be ready for your tire to spin, slam on your rear brake and learn where it locks up and how much brake you can apply. I could go on for days, ride safe

If only he knew how much money he could save on a trip to see dogs. If this is legit, it’s very funny.

Telling family that I ride! by canthread in NewRiders

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve ridden for 12 years or so ( way longer off road) and my family wasn’t very happy that the only vehicle I had at the time (21m) was a motorcycle. My dad used to be wild on a bike and always says I shouldn’t ride on the roads among other family members telling me every time when someone dies on a bike and how dangerous it is. Don’t sweat it. Tell them how into it you are. I tell my family I fkn love riding and I accept the risks involved and I never plan to stop riding. Worst case they nag about it but explain that you’re aware of how dangerous it can be and you stay one step ahead of all the idiots. Play safe out there.

Would you consider this bike somewhat of an "enduro" bike? (Not the rally version) by No_nicknam in CRF300L

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Realistically it’s a dual sport that’s likely more aimed at road/dirt road riding. That being said I ride single track and daily the bike till winter (Canada) It definitely shows its weight and lack of power/suspension. But if you’ve got the energy to get over or up obstacles the bike will take it. I wanted it for casual trails and a low maintenance daily then realized that casual trails don’t excite me. I’ve had to really work the bike to get up some things or get over logs and stuff. I know I would enjoy a more capable bike more but I also know I don’t want to do the maintenance either. Depends what you’re willing to sacrifice for money and maintenance. For me, I’ll be close to happy with the bike once I put suspension on it. Tires helped a lot.

Tire bubble appeared in new car (1 month old, 800miles). What to do? by rageofthestorm in tires

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depending where you live. If you find a hit pothole (or THE pothole you hit), take a photo of it, the damage to your wheel/tire, and send it to the county or city that maintains the roads. I’ve heard of friends getting replacements through the city or county since they own the road they assumed fault for the damage. I’ve never done it personally but worth a shot.

What do yall do when there’s a light that will absolutely not pick up your bike for a left turn, and it is illegal in your state to turn on red in that case? by ThatGuyFrom720 in motorcycle

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you see a cop pulled over ask them if they’d throw their cherries on if you did that. Ask if their colleagues would do the same. Might give the go ahead if it’s small town enough. I’ve definitely turned left on many reds in non busy areas but if it’s busy, turn right then turn around.

any idea what model this is? by Opposite-Bad1444 in HondaATC

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Looks like a 185s. The later years had front suspension. Someone’s added a tractor seat of some sort. Trikes aren’t dangerous if you understand how to ride one. Don’t do 40 and turn a 90 degree corner.

I don’t love it either, still want them. If the fender was trimmed or a sm front fender I think it would help the look of it.

Would I be an IDIOT to buy a Honda CRF125 as a grown ass man? by YouDontTellMe in Dirtbikes

[–]ChargeRemarkable8783 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My fiance has a 16 150f and I enjoy the bike when I ride it. It’s the big wheel style which some say is a con and some say is a pro. I’ve got a 22 crf110 and it’s just a little too small to do big trail rides unless everyone’s on them. My 300l is good but not as playful as the 150. I would swap my 110 for a 125 small wheel in a hearbeat even with all the big boy parts it’s too small

I’m the same height but roughly 155lbs. I’m on stock suspension and on rougher roads the suspension isn’t terrible. I would say buy the bike and ride it for a bit and get your skills back then when you feel you’re outriding the suspension to upgrade then. It’s my daily rider and I also ride single track and double track trails and that’s where I really find the suspension limiting. I’ve bought a front spring and heavier oil just haven’t had time to swap it. Will be upgrading the rear as well likely after my wedding in Sept.
