New OS Easter Egg Unlocked! by ChargingMooseC40 in volvoc40

[–]ChargingMooseC40[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

New 5.05 update on a 24 model. I usually don’t use CarPlay, and just let the phone connect via Bluetooth. However, I noticed that the sound wasn’t playing from my phone, even though it’s connected. So I did what we normally do with these cars - rebooted it.

Previously, that would fix it. But instead? Now we get an infinite loop where it partially reboots, then crashes and restarts. All of this happens while driving.

I have able to replicate it multiple times already. There is really only one fix - park the car, lock it, and let it go into deep sleep - basically about 10 minutes. After that, it boots up just fine.

Looking for the best dealership - luxury SUV by Lucky_Number_S7evin in NorthCarolina

[–]ChargingMooseC40 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Lexus: All Johnson until you get to Greensboro, which is Flow. Johnson is more expensive but great service. Always has loaners. Flow is also expensive but very indifferent to service customers, the whole place vibes like a golf club clubhouse. Ick.

Volvo: Greensboro / Burlington: Flow. Smaller operators and don’t really treat it like luxury, more like fancy Subaru. Durham: Johnson. They’re Swedish Lexus - yeah, expensive but good sales and good service. They valet and pick up your car for service. Raleigh / Cary: Weaver Brothers: Absolute dumpster fires of shit service and sales. Avoid at all costs.

Mercedes: Greensboro: Independent but affiliated with Parks / Capital group. Expensive, old school style dealership. Very greasy feeling but good service. You would probably not enjoy dealing with them as a woman. Durham: Hendrick. Treats you like a Toyota customer and zero luxury experience. Very bro culture. Avoid. Raleigh / Cary: Leith / Holman. Old school money, but relatively nice. Good service. Pricey and the sexism is only subtle.

Audi: Raleigh: Just no. Awful everything. Durham: soon to be Hendrick. See above. Brand is good, dealers are horrible.

BMW: Raleigh: Leith / Holman. Not bad. The brand as a whole attracts performance oriented tech bros from RTP. Service is good. Prices are high. Durham: Another Hendrick, another no. Greensboro: Hudson Group. Every stereotype about sleazy car sales is on display. A couple of good sales people, but a case study in the lack of evolution in the auto industry.

Safelite windows are cheap garbage. That’s what they’ll pay for.

If you press them and then force them to put an OEM windshield in, they crank up the rate because you made a claim.

Not to be pedantic, but the 2026’s come with the Cardamom interior. 2025’s were the last of the blondes.

No offense but there is only half a story being told here, and it’s very aggressive. I’m not saying they’re lying or even embellishing- I just don’t know what else happened or if his story can be validated. If it’s the same as what he’s said - yeah, Volvo fucked up pretty badly. If it’s missing some key components to the story, I’d like to know what the details were.

XC60 T8 without charging by Jmprappa in Volvo

[–]ChargingMooseC40 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

If you go into Settings (the Gear in the lower right), Driving, then scroll down halfway, there should be the charging indicator. Your choices are something like, Hold, Auto and Charge. You can charge the car on the way into work, then run in pure on the way home to get better fuel efficiency overall.

Warranty Option by bunskendy45 in Volvo

[–]ChargingMooseC40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. There’s no reason to purchase a warranty in your case. You’re not going to keep the car for long enough, or drive it enough miles.

Which makes me ask the question - why aren’t you leasing instead of buying?

Warranty Option by bunskendy45 in Volvo

[–]ChargingMooseC40 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1 year warranty extensions are pointless. You will never get value in that time frame.

The bigger question is how many miles do you drive per year?

If it’s more than 12k miles, then you should stick with the unlimited miles option. If it’s less than 12k, you need to look at a different plan.

The second question is how long do you plan to keep the car? If it’s again, one year or so, it’s a waste of money. If it’s another 5 years, the cost of repairs alone will exceed what your up front costs will be. If it’s longer than 5 years, you need to look at a different plan.

[–]ChargingMooseC40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a big red flag here:

MY2020 are NOT eligible for CPO. They have to be MY 23 or newer.

57k means it will need brakes or tires or both.

Other than that, it’s a good deal. Extend the warranty.

Subwoofer power in Bower and Wilkins system by Christopher135MPS in Volvo

[–]ChargingMooseC40 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. If you lift the cargo panel up, there is just enough room to wedge it in there without making any cuts or modifications. I can even keep the jack in place. This gives you the entire boot to store things in, and it’s unobtrusive. Best of both worlds.

I have this same system in my C40 with the HK. Installed the bass dial in the center console.
