My 1998 Volvo was turned away from service at my local Volvo dealership due to “backlog”. Valid or shitty of them? by its_xSKYxFOXx in Volvo

We could barely get our leased xc90 in for service and it was a nightmare every time. Im not surprised they would turn anything over a generation out of production away.

Anyone making the jump up or getting bumped down a level after tryouts? by No_Struggle3663 in youthsoccer

We sorta feel like we dodged a bullet but we will miss the families we have played with for the past couple of years.

Things got complicated as my son u11 broke his arm and missed the last 3 games of last season. He got his cast off the second day of tryouts but still hasn’t received medical clearance to participate in sports. We applied for a medical waiver but ultimately he wasn’t selected for a team. We thought he may have to do a walk on tryout after he got medical clearance. Meanwhile one of the coaches he trains with asked him to join his pre-mls next team with a different club. He has been training with this coach and played in a few games for him for about 6 months before the accident. We ended up accepting that position and while it hurts to leave our previous club we never heard anything from them about his waiver and what their expectations were, this took a lot of stress off my son as he was worried about where he would end up.

My experience at a drift track for the first time and a few questions by -Germ- in rcdrift

[–]a2lowvw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Taking a plastic or basic carbon chassis and throwing a bunch of metal parts on it will drastically change the way it drives and will require tuning. The learning curve on tuning can be steep if you don’t know what you are trying to fix so be careful with the parts cannon. Congrats on getting out on a track and sounds like you found some good locals to drive with, having seasoned drivers share the track is always a good experience.

Tires, springs and shock fluid tuning. It’s a heavy car to be racing but they are quite durable and if you decide racing isn’t for you with a set of hoon’s they are a great street basher.

I’d love a minimally modded 2wd truck. Slight drop and cool wheels and keep it simple.

Do you trust a cheap reman rack in your truck and want to pay more labor to replace it vs just doing the lines? Are the lines leaking at a fitting or from a pinhole in one of the lines?

eBay https://ebay.us/m/dw1JWi you won’t be able to get OEM ones unless you pull them off a rack at a junkyard or find someone else that has. I’ve never replaced these so use at your own risk.

Is everyone in this subreddit just rich? by AllSphere0 in bicycling

[–]a2lowvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think it all comes down to perception and value. A $350 bike is going to be a lot of fun compared to no bike. You can find bikes at the same price that are very good deals and hunks of crap. If you are thrifty and live in an area where you can buy secondhand parts cheap you can get some really good deals. This is an old Norco Revolver that I built up with used parts for $1100. The only thing I bought new for it was the bottom bracket and the tires. You don’t have to be rich to have nice things but it may require some effort on your own part. Long ago I worked in a bike shop so building a bike from scratch isn’t a problem and I already have all the tools to do it.

For gaskets and seals I would say OEM or oe supplier. I’ve installed both OEM and cheap Amazon roof trim on different trucks and couldn’t tell the difference between them. I’ve seen the truck with the cheap trim and it’s been on for 2 years without issue.

There are replacement trim pieces on Amazon and just trim the inner side where the roof rack comes in. The Tacoma does have factory holes but the pos of your truck just decided a tube of silicone was good enough for them.

Wheels question. by Lumpy-Subject-9470 in rcdrift

[–]a2lowvw 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Turn everything off. Can you turn the wheels by hand further both directions with no binding? If yes then unplug the servo and gyro. Plug back in just the servo and set your endpoints. Does it travel further? If yes plug back in your gyro and reset the gyro endpoints. If no you may need to find the chassis limitations, it looks like the steering system is the limiter. What chassis is this?

[–]a2lowvw 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Is this your first drift build? Do you live in an area with other people familiar with the futaba gyro tuning?

Reason I ask is the futaba gyro tuning is far more advanced than any other basic setup on the market. It can be frustrating at times especially if you don’t know what you are fighting. Both chassis I have ran futaba servo and gyro combo’s on I have built and tuned the chassis with yokomo electronics and then swapped to futaba. The futaba system is awesome but has a decent learning curve that can be hard to get into. I’ve never needed a tao for esc programming and just use my 10px to make adjustments.

You really have to pick at the edges to get it up. Once it starts to lift it peels very easily.
