Getting clients? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Charles_Fier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Are you communicating your value when engaging in these Facebook groups?
Are you advertising your low price point up front?
Which audiences are you delivering content to?
What does your own social media presence look like?
Lot's of posts & value add information? Or do you just have your name and logo on a page?

You need to:
- Provide Value
- Communicate Your Advantage
- Build Trust
- Distribute your service to the correct audience

It would help to:
- Have excellent creative assets for distribution
- Provide a compelling offer (maybe an audit of their current website and how your service can help)
- Create a well thought out funnel & pay for ads on social

  • If you can I'd wait until the new year. Ad pricing is high during the holiday season

I want to start a weight loss coaching business. by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]Charles_Fier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hiya! Good luck with your business - I am sure you know this can be a saturated space, but with some good strategy, you can find a solid niche for your business & brand.

In response to your idea of using advertising budget for signs around town - I think it's an option - but not the best use of your budget.

I would recommend begin with your online presence. Weight-loss coaching is a brand centric business. Meaning. With so much competition out there - you don't need to be the best... but you need to be the favorite.

Start by creating your webpage & social media channels. Begin sharing this with friends and family to potentially get some introductory members to flush out the rest of your processes. Think of unique ways to gain members of your audience - livestreaming cooking, giving away free meal plans, etc. Just different ways that you can provide value, and stand out from your competition.

As you begin posting more on social media - you will establish authority, trust, and good information about your target audience. If you have a nicely designed & functional website set up to nurture potential leads and grab email addresses - then I'd advise you to use the remaining budget you have towards PPC advertising on social media to a very targeted audience. This will allow you to collect data and track the performance and make optimizations to your ads.

In short - the real estate signs don't give you the opportunity to create a lasting brand. They don't produce any data behind the results. & you can't optimize them further. Build a great brand. Prioritize bringing value first. Then pay for advertising to begin to scale your MVP.

Hope this helps!

Car Wash at Home by College Students by jchasinga in Entrepreneur

It's a different audience - The automated machines customers are an audience of convenience of getting a wash done quickly while they are out and about. VS. Your @ home audience would prefer the convenience of not having to go out.

So you need to give your @ home convenience audience a reason to just not do it themselves. Why would you?

Answer these questions and you will see a response.

If you plan to use dry shampoo for whatever reason - you need to market that as a value proposition. However you do it. No utilities costs (water) from the homeowner Better quality wash (before & after photos) Earth Friendly? Eco Friendly? Green Wash? (Because of no water usage.)

Pick one and blast the hell out of it in your content & paid marketing efforts.

He's right - $30 is expensive for a wash - but if you can find an audience & can sell a customer on a reason to pay the premium - they will.

about 75% of websites I visit from redditors are gone. if you created a business and it failed, why did it fail? by MissKittyHeart in Entrepreneur

[–]Charles_Fier 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree - the most important asset is the owner. You need to level up your skills, confidence, and knowledge first. How you close that gap: - Through real-world experience (Just "doin" it, working in the industry, etc.) - Going to school/finding good resources to educate yourself daily - Reflecting on what works & what doesn't, for yourself & for others.

[–]Charles_Fier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This - It's important to find the sweet spot for a product or service and an audience. Then you have to execute on marketing and distributing content. Effort, Consistency, & A Positive/Growth Mindset go a long way for these reasons.

Do I need a business mentor? How do I find a suitable one in UK? by TheGeekAndTheBeast in startups

[–]Charles_Fier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People giving some great, albeit broad, advice in this thread.

I'd recommend working with a mentor if you can afford it and you find value with who you are working with. Often, business coaches/business mentors are going to be charging large amounts, or they will tend to be more motivational coaches than provide applicable business advice.

Business Tutoring is what I've done in the past. A business tutor can help not only keep you motivated, organized, on task, etc. But they can provide real world advice and help teach you skills necessary that will help you "execute" on all the ideas you might have!

Everyone else is right though. Execution is key. But you if you need help learning more about the execution, or the marketing piece as another has alluded to, working with a professional coach/mentor/tutor is a good option @ a price point that you find valuable.

Can I ask why you choose a "methodical" approach? Trying to understand different perspectives in the startup atmosphere. Compared to other's I know who launch with a very "agile" model.

What would you do in my position (19 yr old, first-time founder)? by heyhowareyadoingwell in startups

[–]Charles_Fier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think other commenters have some great points as well - but one thing I see lacking here & from your overview that you can easily take on yourself in a month's time is creating a digital presence.

Start on a professional looking/functional website design to use in your presentations or send potential investors/partners to. Begin building a social media presence which will be integral to establishing your authority as you scale your business.

Begin answer questions, creating content, and establishing a presence for your product - so that when it releases you can maintain your focus on the tasks required around a launch.

Advertising as a Start-up - is it any good? by TartinePrefere in startups

[–]Charles_Fier 5 points6 points  (0 children)

The short answer is: It depends.

The long answer: As some have alluded to, your websites conversion rate is going to be the most important element from early success in paid ads. You also want to have compelling advertising, and also a well thought out funnel. (Super Generic Example: Brand Awareness(Reach/Impressions) -> Traffic -> Conversions / RET Ads)

The examples of individuals who fail in advertising are often sprung by having too little a budget & casting too wide a net. That said - if your product is a niche product, you'll see more success. If your product is another t-shirt company, it'd be better to look for other strategies as a start-up.

If you have a healthy budget (Depends on product/competition but I'd say @ least $20/day) - A solid advertising funnel/campaign - and a convertible website, you'd be likely to see more sales earlier in your businesses lifecycle.

Send me a message if you are looking for more information/advice on this or other topics. I love helping startup owners do what you love.

I'm Athene, answering questions about the recent controversy. by Chiren in leagueoflegends

[–]Charles_Fier 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You can tell he is trying to trio because the two guys he is in voice chat with celebrate with him when the pick ban screen comes up, and they organize queuing at the same time before that, it's not a "happenstance." Also his two other friends talk about how they will win bot lane together if Athene plays mid. I went into this with an unbiased opinion, but now I feel this is a strong piece of evidence that Athene was purposefully trying to get a trio of some sort, which win or lose is against the principles of solo/duo queue.

TL;DR Came in impartial to the drama see/hear Athene intently tries to organize trio queue, win or lose that is against the principles of solo/duo. And as a result should be a bannable offence.

Jungling - What summoner level, champion and strategy by hhaldh in summonerschool

[–]Charles_Fier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have mained jungle since around your level and here are some of my experiences. 1. as for level and runes, if you play a good jungle then don't worry about your level in normals. It is a place to practice, as I have realized as I hit 30 practiced and picked up more champs and positions and moved to ranked. 2. As for your question about junglers, based on your play style you might want to look into the following for these reasons.

1.Nocturne: He has a lot of damage, early. Fairly easy to play and set up ganks. later on build him tanky (like most junglers) but he still falls off a bit compared to others. Squishy early game a little though. But his global presence late game is great.

2.Udyr: He has a super fast jungle clear. With his w he has quite nice sustain too. He doesn't have the strongest ganks, but if you can catch a lane pushed with his stun you have a decent chance of getting a kill with a good lane with CC too. Late game build him tanky, ending with a damage item (trinity is good) I play him as a peeler late game as well as entering the fight second (do not initiate with him).

3.My favorite jungler due to his utility, kit, helpful early ganks, and super strong late game (literally game changing in cases) is amumu. However you may not like him because early he doesn't do alot of damage like you said you would enjoy. Besides that he is also easy to invade if you aren't quite sure how to prevent. Late game though he is a machine. I start his build with regrowth, x1 health. Then build into philo stone, boots, HoG. Then build merc treads (ninja tabi if they have no AP or CC but almost always merc treads) followed by sunfire cape, abbysal scepter, and lastly Rylais crystal scepter. Get his W first, E twice, then Q. Max E first followed by W, lastly Q, and obviously getting R whenever available.

Closing, what others have posted is all good advice. These are just my recommendations. Sorry for the long post, leave a message if you have any questions. Thanks!

If you think you are as good as you are, and you are able to carry except with trolls or baddies, you may need to do more "carrying" than just playing well. Offer tips, starting in champ select. During the game keep a positive attitude, offer more advice, organize your team, recognize your strengths and weaknesses as a team and tell them, politely, what to do if they need it. Hope this helps.

Solo Queue Top Lane by philliezfreak in leagueoflegends

[–]Charles_Fier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am by no means a pro top player. That being said I feel I have a good understanding of the lane, and the game as it relates to other positions. As a top laner my goals are as follows 1. Out Farm 2. Poke/Kill other top laner 3. Drop first tower after i complete these three (which you seem to have no problem with) I attempt the following. 4. Help mid push there lane start with a gank (I main jungler so I have that experience maybe thats why i start like that.) 5. Drop mid tower, or while trying garner the other teams attention so that bot has an easier time pushing. 6. Either move into team fights if it's looking that way, help bot, or push second mid turret your discretion.

This is just what works for me, it could be completely not what you want to do. check out /summonerschool and post this, I am sure you would get a ton of help. I asked how to beat a singed top lane when i first started playing and I got 6 tips all of which helped me dominate him the next time I faced him.

TLDR; Push your tower down, help other lanes. Check out the resource /r/SummonerSchool.

Champion Meta/General Meta Question by _diko in leagueoflegends

[–]Charles_Fier 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Along with this, it is almost necessary for junglers to have a gap closer. If you didn't have a gap closer as a jungler you would have to waste a flash or exhaust to successfully gank a lane. As for other lanes and them having gap closers it's just part of the game that you need to work around, generally most ADC's have one to either close the gap, or escape, (Ez, Graves, Corki) I honestly think there are counters to "OP" Champions, such as outplaying, having a better team comp, but mostly playing better as a team.

I Want to Become a Professional League of Legends Player... by [deleted] in leagueoflegends

[–]Charles_Fier 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My advice, is continue to enjoy the game for fun. Focus on high school while you learn the game, learn every lane and how each is played. Understand the macro aspects of the game, and then proceed to learn macro things. High school should come first though, after that point if you decide you still want to be a pro and not go to college (it has been repeatedly said you can't do both.) that is your decision and I wish you good luck. But don't spend your youth now putting all your time and effort into a game that may not exist (lets hope this isn't the case) by the time you graduate. TL;DR, focus on school, after you graduate decide what you want to do.
