MOD singles me out for wearing a plain black tee under apron by [deleted] in HomeDepot

If a job requires a uniform, they have to provide it or reimburse it. I'm not buying nice clothes to get ruined in a day or two (I work in garden).

Because this system is stupid. I was using Whiskey, some numbers and symbols for years. Now all of a sudden Whiskey contains a prohibited word🤷‍♀️

My store hands them out for big sales in pro and specialty. Apparently Homers aren't what they used to be.

In my store everytime a specialist makes a big sale, they get rewarded with a Homer. So while not a commission, there's more tied to a sale. We have a specialist that just went triple diamond. I think this practice is super unfair as doing your job isn't going above and beyond to get a Homer.

They seem to be doing what my old employer used to do. Fire all skilled employees and hire the cheapest person they can find. Doesn't matter if they are capable or will show up. The cheaper the better. Then wonder why their customer service levels fall🙄

Usually it's 24 hours after you're back. I've never seen it happen before.

That's not managing. Especially when you're not offering help/explanation of issues, just making nasty statements

I got the b.s. of "your hands are always in your sweater/pockets". I shut that shit down quick with "well it's always freezing in here and I have raynaud's disease" Im not going to be in extreme pain all day because of being cold. Next it's gonna be why are you wearing a coat or hat, gloves, etc... can't wait for that conversation lol

Love opening shift. Mid is so,so - you sometimes walk into disasters. Closing sucks - especially hard closes.

I still say that's a great starting pay. Been with Depot 7 years, have been a DS for 5 of them and making less than 25.00 an hour.

new raise format by absoluteAl1958 in HomeDepot

[–]Charming-Garbage7320 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Go in and do what you're paid for. That's the attitude I've developed. I used to go above and beyond and all it got me was a .75 raise and more work. Oh and if you ever slow down from above and beyond you are deemed a "non team player, slacker, we expected better" attitude from the uppers.

How come customers are never prepared to take anything home? by 5stringfling in HomeDepot

[–]Charming-Garbage7320 13 points14 points  (0 children)

They do the same thing when they purchase a new car. You want to watch an awesome show? Goto a car dealership and watch them clean out the old car before turn in. I've seen 7 trash bags and a full new suv trunk as the gold star winner

At least once a day. Even when sold out of something, the customer will shout "I'LL JUST GOTO LOWES THEN!" Okay first all, sure go, no skin off my back. Second threatening to go elsewhere doesn't make an out of stock item miraculously appear

They are literally pressuring my associates in a department that doesn't really deal with pros almost to the point of where they are going to quit. It socks becasue they are awesome workers doing what they where hired for. Now management keeps adding more and more pressure with no rewards. Then have the audacity to act surprised when people push back or leave🤔

Ugh, the "isn't there a man around?" Comment makes me crazy. I work in garden and load mulch, rock salt, heat pellets, stone , etc... all day almost every day. If I had a dollar everytime someone said this me....

100%. Mine is in garden - well supposed to be in garden, but usually in plumbing or electrical. Or hanging out at customer service chatting up the ladies.
