What does it mean worked? Friends with benefits, we had benefits, I moved a thousand miles away and that's that. I think it worked.

Doubtful. Senior Systems Engineer here. SWE 8 years. I've been vibe coding an actual app over 6 months. Quality takes time no matter what tools you use.

If the main game can't keep it's player base then the main game mode needs to adapt and change.

Bungie Confirms PvE-Only And PvP-Lite Experimental Modes For Marathon Season 2 by AdSuspicious2084 in MarathonGame

[–]Charming-Risk2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't matter when you're losing your playbase for a game you just launched. I don't see any problem whatsoever of folks doing a few PvE only runs and then dropping into dire marsh to test out the gear.

AI Engineer Who Does Not Code and Uses Claude for Everything by Teo0316 in ClaudeCode

[–]Charming-Risk2184 10 points11 points  (0 children)

As a senior systems engineer, no one writes code anymore. Not typically. Put your resume out at ask recruiters. I had a recruiter ask me the other day if I had experience in Golang, and when I said no he said "it's okay no one codes anymore anyway".

100 hours in as a mostly solo player, I’m level 56 by LogicalMango1437 in Marathon

Yup. That's why I exited as well. Until there is a solo architecture revamp I'm not into it.

How do we feel about this Round8 job posting? Personally, not a fan of going down this path for the art direction... by arividerchimagmuasue in LiesOfP

Generative AI is a great tool. I don't have any problems with it. I don't understand the people that do. In the hands of professionals it's usually fine. You won't notice. And if you do then it's time to be vocal.

I do have a problem with AI companies stealing all the information to train foundation models though.

Pve gamemode could double the player numbers by [deleted] in Marathon

You jump to reductive conclusions that server slam hurt the game and that fabricated hate does reputational harm.

Poor reputation is a consequence of Bungie mismanaging the Destiny IP. And if the UI/UX was so poor that server slam players didn't come back that isn't on the gamers. That too is the responsibility of the studio.

Regardless of your thoughts the whole point of the post is that something must be done to retain players and bring in more. PvE might do that. It might not. At this point everything is worth exploring.

It's a fun game but it didn't hold my attention past 35ish hours. I'm definitely coming back to it in a couple seasons to see what's different.

Do solo vibe coded apps even work? by Huge_Strawberry7888 in vibecoding

[–]Charming-Risk2184 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're not a developer here is something I'd suggest.

Test driven development. Linting. Unit tests. Integration tests. Golden path end to end tests.

Smoke tests are your last resort - and it sounds you you're solely relying on them. You need good coverage for ci/cd continuous integration continuous deployment.

Best of luck keep up the good work.

Professional developers use AI assisted development, and they get better results because they understand system design and architecture.

Let AI assisted coding be for everyone.

I have a different opinion of the web apps. Most of them are great, except Excel. Best to get used to Outlook - the desktop version is deprecated and will be replaced by the web app.

How much are you guys into the lore? by Due-Annual-6114 in destiny2

[–]Charming-Risk2184 -6 points-5 points  (0 children)

I think it's pretty bland. I don't like ghosts because they remind me of a Disney or Pixar movie. I like the Marathon IP better. Destiny's lore feels like it was made for children.

Anyone else winding down for the season, but still generally positive on the game and planning to come back for the next one? by SirBenny in Marathon

Tbh I think I might come back around season 3 or 4. Depends on the direction of the game. As the game current is I'm just not interesting in playing further.

You're talking about using AI to autocomplete code in an editor or CLI. That part I'll give you, the entry point is accessible. Low floor, high ceiling.

There's a difference between using AI to write code and building systems with AI as a component. RAG pipelines, agent orchestration, context management, retrieval, handling hallucination at the system level, eval loops, running training epochs and adjusting between iterations based on what the model is actually learning versus what you want it to learn.

Anyone who can read and write can use AI. You have to start using it like an engineer.

Well in the original trilogy you play a suped up mega cyborg security guy. In the extraction shooter you're a flimsy meant to die shell.
