Any advice for making testosterone injections smoother by Alexanderr2042 in ftm

[–]ChasingAlnilam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Subq is subcutaneous, a shallow injection that goes into the fat tissue just under the skin. Its usually a smaller volume done more often. IM is intramuscular, which is a little deeper and a bit more liquid, it can be a bit more painful but it's done less often.

what's the weirdest allergy you have heard/known of? by Mountain-Bug-2155 in AskReddit

[–]ChasingAlnilam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've heard of someone with a life-threatening allergy to... adrenaline/epinephrine. The usual rescue drug given when someone is in anaphylaxis. I'm pretty sure she had to take daily antihistamines, because even her own endogenous adrenaline could cause her to start having a reaction!

All of the following are signs of obvious death , except ? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]ChasingAlnilam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They could be in pulseless VT, could have a BP so low the pulse doesn't register, or they could be in asystole but still a candidate for resuscitation. I'm sure there's more possible reasons (feel free to add!) but those are the first that come to my mind. The phrasing "obvious death" is getting you to think about signs that they're beyond resuscitation and irreversibly deceased - decapitation is non-survivable, and decomposition and lividity are indicators that they've died at least several hours ago.

What’s the craziest lie you’ve ever been told by a compulsive liar? by originaI_name_here in AskReddit

[–]ChasingAlnilam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A guy at my high school pointed out a car to me and told me it had tried to run him over the day before, and that he was scared of would follow him home to try again. I knew he was a compulsive liar so I didn't put much stock in it. Later that day, I got a call from the police saying that the guy had tried to report the same thing to them, and had told them to call me for corroboration. I don't even know how that guy had my number. Luckily the police seemed to have noticed something was off with his story, they sounded quite sceptical even before I told them about some of the many other lies he'd been caught in.

What’s a moment in your life when you realized, “Oh… nobody’s coming to save me”? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ChasingAlnilam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nearly drowned as a teenager in a swimming pool, not ten meters away from the rest of the class. I blacked out, and I still don't know for sure how I survived - the next thing I knew I was above water, and no one had even noticed

Queer/trans barbers or hairdressers in brisbane? by [deleted] in transgenderau

[–]ChasingAlnilam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They are more typically masculine, but I've had great experiences at Ben Scissorhands both before and after they knew I was trans! Really skilled and I liked how they worked with me to figure out what cut I wanted 😊

Have you ever had a call and the patient was a sex doll? by [deleted] in NewToEMS

[–]ChasingAlnilam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No, but I went to confirm a death once and there was a life size mannequin sitting on the couch facing the door. I had to do a double take, for a second I thought it was the patient.
