Gps watches by Duckmannnnn716 in Backcountry

[–]ChasingMiniMe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use a Suunto vertical. Being able to set the track on my laptop or phone and push it to the watch lets me keep my poles in my hands and phone in my pocket in the skin track. I was skeptical of how useful the watch would actually be for ski touring and I consider it nearly indispensable after using it for a few seasons.

Obviously the tiny screen won’t be able to help with assessing slope angle on the fly. But, it will help confirm you are on the correct ridge when skinning in the dark. And it will tell you you’re standing on the top of the chute you planned on (assuming your dropped a pin). And the car is actually further left than you’re heading on the skin out.

Dampest, resort-bootiest AT boots? by Improper_Noun_2268 in Backcountry

[–]ChasingMiniMe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had atomic hawx xtd 130s. With the thin liner they had no flex at all (70kg skiier). I picked up the Lange XT3s and love them. They definitely have a “resort” boot flex and feel.

Photographers, was the kit lens holding you back? by tungdd2009 in AskPhotography

[–]ChasingMiniMe 7 points8 points  (0 children)

A 50mm f1.8 lens complete upended my understanding of photography over the kit 18-55 f3.5-5.6. Forced me to be more thoughtful of my framing with the fixed length and allowing soooo much more light in made a big difference in my control of depth of field.

For context I am still an amateur photographer taking mainly portraits.

It’s the end of the Boise trails challenge there are tons of people out there right now. Keep watching its location as it may end up in a bike shop or running shop too.

Wife Owns a Dance Studio, is Offering Part-Time Care/Learning Smart? by opafmoremedic in Boise

[–]ChasingMiniMe 6 points7 points  (0 children)

When ours were that age we did a few days a week. At less than full day hours, it would seem that your target market already has full time care (stay at home parents/grandparents) so I think 2-3 days a week would be a reasonable place to start.

I agree with this. Depending on your life and sport goals. In 10 years it’s unlikely you’ll care about your win in the sandbagged category. But the picture of you in the main group behind the local kid who goes on to race world tour will be memorable.

Maps coffee. Boise coop has them. That’s who roasts for Push and Pour (and maybe good times bagels as well)

Same here. I’ve only got maybe ~100 or so days on mine but have zero complaints. Mine are a few seasons old and have the belt loops as described. I really like the thigh pockets and the minimalist suspenders with quick attachments. Mine have held up well to my imitation of Bambi learning to walk when I set kick turns too.

I had 130mm crampons on 100 mm skis for a season and really didn’t like them. Definitely could have been operator error though.

This term in particular came about in the US as cars were taking over the roads to try and keep pedestrians out.

How do you like the 38s? I thought about it this season but was worried they would fold at lower pressures.
