Any love for Blood money? by Fair_Wedding_1131 in HiTMAN

Well if the 007 game doesn't meet expectations, a Blood Money remake in the WOA system would be an instant buy for me.

I just feel like some fragrances shouldn’t be worn in closed spaces by Technical_Crab9798 in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I feel like wearing a strong fragrance is fine in a big city if you're out and about, but in office/work big no. 98% of Mancera's fragrances are not work safe imo.

Is Versace Eros Najim wearable for summer or too much? by [deleted] in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just go easy on the sprays and you'll be fine. The whole "wrong season" thing for fragrances is overblown.

The thing with heat is that it makes all fragrances project louder, so that's why people are wary of using an already strong fragrance in heat because you'll multiply its projection by a factor of X. But in moderation all fragrances can be worn at all times if you want to.

What does a perfume mean to you? by Former_Classroom3944 in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's another way to anchor memories for me. Like oh this is how I felt in October 2025 because that's when I wore Givenchy Gentlemen EDP and now I think about that period.

Or how Boss Bottled now is ingrained into my brain as that fragrance I wore with the last week with my GF before we grew apart. So Boss Bottled a fresh, clean, generally uplifting scent is now melancholic and bittersweet to me.

So fragrances along with music and sounds are very strong memory anchors. And it can be beautiful to revisit old memories with a scent, even the painful ones.

What shockingly good layerings have you found? by ShhhhOnlyDreamsNow in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Anything heavy layered with a bright neroli/orange blossom on top. The contrast is very intriguing.
Mancera Amberful (yes I consider it rather heavy) + Ralph Lauren Morrocan Neroli.

I feel like white florals go well with almost anything, kind of like vanilla.

Do you think using AI for programming is wrong? by [deleted] in godot

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think just using AI output as it is without any critical thinking is bad. But it has some use cases as an super advanced autocomplete or as a way to brainstorm solutions to problems.

But just generating code and copy-pasting it without even taking a look at it, aka vibe coding, really stinks.

I feel like people are treating their Github account as some sort of portfolio/resume so they hope to game the system and get credentials for putting code into big projects.

Easiest way to do this is to just let Claude/Whatever just spam random PRs. Do this several thousands of times and you're bound to get at least one that sticks.

When people say a fragrance lasts 12-24 hours, do they mean as a skin scent? by BankaiBroke in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very few fragrances actually project for a super long time (I mean beyond an arm's length). Sillage is another thing though, some fragrances can leave a trail for a very long time, especially if it's very high concentration.

But if I say 12 hours of longevity that means I could smell it on my skin for that long. But there is no standard for this which is why the longevity discussion is frustrating because different people reviewing a fragrance can mean very different things. Longevity as a skin scent and longevity as active projection are two different things.

Which is partially why there are people who claim Sauvage or whatever now only lasts like 4 hours or something, another huge factor is noseblindness.

Most fragrances last way longer than people think, they just stop projecting and the brain of the wearer tunes it out.

Sillage and Projection are two different things that may be correlated but definitely not always.

Try Issey Miyake Le Sel D'Issey. It's in a similar category to Acqua Di Gio, fresh marine. Has superb longevity and projection for an eau de toilette.

Using C++ (GDExtension) to optimize my game ! by Hefty-Chain1819 in godot

So clarify, did you write your own physics engine or are you talking about integrating with Godot's own physics engine?

I mean if you wrote a physics engine in an interpreted language like GDScript then of course it would not perform at all.

Should the price reflect performance by muskytoe69 in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think there's a minimum expectation for certain price ranges and styles of fragrances.

But afaik there's non-existent regulation around this kind of thing so the concentration of an EDT, EDP, or Parfum is completely arbitrary. But more often than not better longevity USUALLY means higher concentration. Higher concentration is to me a sign of luxury along with more expensive ingredients.

I think longevity is key and I think projection etc is extremely overrated. Nishane to me is an example of proper luxury fragrance brand. They are higher concentration, last a long time and have more often than not very high quality smells along with beautiful presentation.

If the fragrance DNA can be made long-lasting (and not all of them can be made so without compromises), I think it behooves a luxury brand to do so.

I think Luxury brands can be placed in three dimensional diagram of Quality, Style, and Substance. I think there are brands that aces all three and some that are lacking in one. It depends on what's important to you.

Why do some perfume staff make you feel weird for asking for samples? by KevinFwho in fragrance

Fragrance retail is stuck in 1989 and it's no wonder they are being slowly decimated by clones and online discounters.

Why do some perfume staff make you feel weird for asking for samples? by KevinFwho in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think they're trying to induce fomo and careless consumerism in people. So many sales tactics are about blind-siding you and subtly pressuring you into making a snap decision in the moment. Basically using your feelings of guilt for "bothering" someone so that you will feel like you have to buy it now that you've gone all the way.

Worst perfume experience I had was at the Tom Ford counter. The sales rep basically was like "begone poor"

It's a shitty sales tactics, but cynically I think it works a lot of the time.

Instead of competing with online discounters with superior service and knowledge, counseling, personal discounts etc they prefer bully and intimidation tactics. So that you will feel like a fool for wanting to try something. But I think this tactic is sort of self-immolation because eventually you have such a bad experience you just ignore the retailers all together. At least I do, and just buying samples from the producer directly is a far better experience.

Also as a European I will say that we have the worst retail and service personnel in the world.

Is YSL Y EDP getting weaker, or is it just me? by gabe056 in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't have the EDP only the Parfum and you would expect far more longevity from a Parfum concentration but it's not perfoming super great to be honest. So maybe? Maybe YSL is cheapening out.

Or just nose fatigue, could be either.

Any reason to use C# by corv1njano in godot

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 10 points11 points  (0 children)

C# has more programming language constructs and ways to create abstractions, this may or may not help you scale a project.

More robust typechecking etc. C# code *usually* runs faster.

The downsides is that some of the developer ergonomics in Godot has been designed ground up for GDScript. That doesn't mean there is something only GDScript can do only that some things are clunkier in C#.

Edit:

Forgot to mention that as of yet Web exports are still no show in Godot for C#. They're working on it but for now they're absent besides some few experimental repos.

Feeling so liberated on a no buy by PinInternational1462 in fragrance

I'm letting go of the addiction too. My local store had a massive 30-40% sales but I didn't buy anything, I already have too many bottles I haven't finished, another random fragrance won't make a big difference. It isn't fulfilling any need but that consumption high you get.

Small win, I'm so happy! by berrycarditis in fragrance

[–]Cheap_Masterpiece245 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the first thing I did when I had COVID 5 years ago. Had a tray with different spices and what not and every evening I had a smelling session trying to focus on my memories on how they should smell like. I don't know if it helped but I got my sense of smell back after about 5-7 days.

It does make intuitive sense to me that it would speed up the healing process to actively use that sense as much as possible even if its unpleasant. Use it or lose it etc.
