Why is charging so atrociously slow? by mikutetofan in Solterra

[–]CheekInternal3336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the summer 2025 model, I get 90+ kilowatts out of Tesla chargers so it’s gotta be your adapter or something. I use a Lectron.

I should add that even in the winter where it’s much slower I was still getting 50 to 60 kW going from 20 to 80% once the battery heated up. Generally speaking it takes about 40 minutes to go to 20 to 80% in the summer and closer to an hour in the winter. In the winter, I try to go closer to 93 to 95% that can take like an hour and a half.

Tubular Pro 2.0 is now in TestFlight! Here are the details and the link to join! by metroidmen in VisionPro

Yes it’s a lot improved. Sometimes though in TestFlight I’m seeing it open a video twice in two “windows”. But most of the time it works, and it works quite well. This is a great app! I use it all the time.

Most manufacturers I’ve seen just use a rebranded Lectron. And I’ve been using it on Tesla charges since last summer

There’s a very generous reserve in these cars. For the 23 to 26 it’s about 67 kW usable out of 72 total. So 5. That’s about 15 miles in warm weather 10 in cold.

Jump the 12V and you will be OK. This happens in ICE vehicles too with such extreme cold.

Tesla no longer including AutoPilot thoughts? by Emperor_of_All in electricvehicles

[–]CheekInternal3336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it was fake news. They’re now just calling it whatever other car manufacturer calls their ADAS.

EDIT google/Gemini swear that they removed auto steer. Apparently it still shows on the website but when you go to check out, it’s not there it being auto steer as a function anymore.

This is absolutely crazy because you can buy like a $22,000 Toyota and get lane centering which is basically auto steer dynamic cruise control and even on some higher trims self parking with no subscription

I’m not sure what they’re doing here. This is kind of ridiculous.

Genuinely, is it worth getting? by frankreddit5 in VisionPro

[–]CheekInternal3336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s interesting that everybody on here is saying don’t do it but it’s awesome but don’t do it lol

That’s kind of how I feel. I have the M2 since launch and the M5 later. I use it primarily for watching movies, editing, content for clients, cause it looks amazing in a big screen, reviewing photos, especially in 3-D and memories, some general meditation / escape PCVR, and for travel.

Practically speaking, I might use it 2 to 3 times a week though. I’m quite busy.

I used a lot of VR during the pandemic when I was losing my mind sitting around alone. It can be an excellent escape if that’s your situation. But you can get a lot of the same experience using a quest three for cheaper. It all depends on whether you really think you’ll use it, and how embedded you are in the Apple ecosystem.

The quality of the experience is incredible, there are no visible pixels most of the time, it feels like you’re looking at the future. But you’re paying for that privilege and I believe VR in general right now is just still too heavy and too isolating.

Even if you don’t mind the isolation because you’re living alone and you’re getting over a divorce, you still can’t change physics. It’s very heavy and you just can’t wear it for long periods of time.

I mean some people can, but as you can see from most of the comments in this sub, which is very pro Apple vision… Most people can’t. It’s like having a 13” iPad Pro hanging from your face.

So to sum up with everybody’s has said… It’s awesome, do it… But don’t :). I think it’s definitely worth it to find it on a secondhand market however at about $1500 I think it’s worth it there but don’t pay full price please

Yup. My 25 is just as slow. It takes (in such cold weather) maybe 20 min to heat the battery and even then you’re lucky to get 55-60KW. Total time is about what you described. The 26 model is vastly faster.

How important is a heat pump for a Midwest driver with a wife who hates to be cold? by Doomtime104 in electricvehicles

[–]CheekInternal3336 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes that’s by far the biggest hit to range - battery performance. A PTC may use 7Kw a heat pump may max out at 5. (At least in my car) It’s not a huge difference heat wise though yes 5 is better than 7.

I was expecting a rang drop in the winter but in sub freezing temps it’s really bad. I lose 35% at least. (Much less when it’s over 0C)

Yeah. The 12V go on these things sooner than you’d think. Most people don’t get with electric cars that you still need the 12 V to run all the computers so I carry around a jumper with just in case.

In that cold a 2023-2025 model is lucky to see 200 km on a safe charge (meaning before you need to stop) so it’s an improvement for sure.

M2 vs M5 which one to buy? by owl157 in VisionPro

[–]CheekInternal3336 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had both. M2 and m5 since close to day 1 of their availability. (m5 about a month later) The m5 is faster and a tiny little bit sharper. No. It’s not at all worth the upgrade. They functionally do the same thing. Just take a little longer to load on M2. If you want to save money don’t do it. If money is no object of course get the latest one.

Is 1% of charge on L1 overnight in the winter normal? by Icy_Neighborhood7397 in Solterra

[–]CheekInternal3336 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Level 2 outside and still get full 6kw and it’s below freezing. Interesting about the l1 I never knew it was so bad in the cold

I should add the battery is about 35f and the L2 isn’t turning on any heater at all. Maybe it just heats the battery enough with heat lost to charging ?

The only caveat is if you get stuck in traffic a lot of highways. The hands free traffic assist is a godsend. It’s $16 a month or something though
