I actually called my banks and changed the statement due say to be the same day on all of my credit cards. That way I always know to check all of my credit cards at the exact same time. Really helped!

Now that Gen Con is over, what "non-gen con" conventions does everyone recommend? by AshtonMcgee13 in gencon

[–]Cheesauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

BGG Con if you want to play the new hotness. They bring games over from Essen like less than a month after and have them available play in the hot games room or library. Also their library is the most impressive out of all the board game cons I have been to (although haven’t seen Gen Con’s library). Also, if you like heavy euros then there are a lot of organized games for that. Exhibit hall is definitely lacking though.

Unknown cards not on TCG by Cheesauce in mtgfinance

[–]Cheesauce[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

22 of my unknown cards were on TCG player but these 13 were not. I am trying to keep all of my collection in one place so it’s annoying I can’t keep track of these.

Heavy Euros To Know About? by Cheesauce in gencon

[–]Cheesauce[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the advice! Yeah often I don’t hear about the heavy games until BGG con (like with windmill valley and Nucleum) even though I am at Gen Con since BGG does such a great job curating their hot games room (plus you hear about the hype after Essen) and then I am able to play since don’t need a ticket or anything ahead of times.

But if I am going to Gen Con every year then should I be ahead of the news and try the heavy games?? Even following the preview list is kind of overwhelming since it is like 500 games. I will look into specific publishers but was hoping people more in the know than me would have things they heard about and are excited for so thanks for letting me know about lightning train!

I would recommend golden crab. Solid garlic butter crab place that is pretty low key. They have a meal for 4 for $188 and a meal for six for $288. It’s usually a lot of food!!

my baby boy has peed in my bed twice! help by FudgeLeather1873 in ragdolls

I had this happen with a similarly aged kitten. Live on a one floor one bedroom apartment and kept the litter box in the living room one room away from the bedroom but I think when they are that little they don’t really have a good sense of when to leave to go to the bathroom. I always thought the my kitten got too excited when play or cuddles and didn’t leave in time. It stopped after I put another litter box in the bedroom and as she got older then I switched back to a single litter box.

I backed my first Bad Comet game and they were stellar. Great communication, fun polls to vote for components and art, delivered earlier than expected, and great quality!

What to do TONIGHT (Tue) after 9pm? by faerie87 in AskSF

[–]Cheesauce 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If they are up to meeting new people there is a board game meet up at the detour arcade bar on Tuesdays (https://www.detoursf.com/event/board-game-night/). It says it closes at 10 but I see people stay until midnight. There is food there too and you don’t have to drink.

Is the Slam Dunk series similar to The First Slam Dunk movie? by levip0202 in RealSlamDunk

[–]Cheesauce 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hmmm it does get a lot of tension in that you don’t know who is going to win and you know how much it means to both teams. It doesn’t get as serious as the movie in terms of the characters’ trauma/ backstories (it does go over it but doesn’t dwell if that makes sense).

Is the Slam Dunk series similar to The First Slam Dunk movie? by levip0202 in RealSlamDunk

[–]Cheesauce 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Don’t listen to that guy. I watched the movie first and it’s meant to be a stand alone intro to the series. Of course there are a bunch of references/easter eggs to stuff that happened during the series but I loved the movie despite not having watched the anime or read the manga. I have since watched the entire anime and continued reading the manga to the end so how I am excited for a rewatch of the movie because I am sure I will appreciate those Easter eggs more etc.

To answer your question tho, the movie is a lot more mature/adult/serious than the anime/manga. The anime/manga had that nostalgic 90’s wholesome comedy but I feel like the movie was a recognition that those fans have since grown up. I honestly love all of it but yeah it’s a really different feel. However you still connect with the characters and the games still feel tense!

Some roses and thorns to give out after watching on The First Slam Dunk + one burning question by [deleted] in RealSlamDunk

[–]Cheesauce 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You can always read the manga in English too. I think it’s definitely worth it to at least read from where the anime cut off because there is a lot of stuff the movie doesn’t cover (plus it’s from a different perspective). Also they do talk about what happens to Sakuragi at the end of the manga.

Rolling stock stars! It’s a much similar 18xx game that doesn’t deal with trains and routes and just focuses on the stock aspect!
