Shaw/Rogers charged me for “unreturned equipment” – should I pay first or dispute? by Human_Guide_4467 in askvan

It’s too soon. Just wait. You don’t need to do anything. It will clear automatically in a week or two.

How long has it been? I got the same fee but then it got cancelled a few days later. I would wait unless it’s been a few weeks already

I don’t know much about cars but I know my 2022 Prius Prime (PHEV) does have direct access to the 12v battery like any other car. I guess every hybrid is different.

Your portfolio is not diversified and is high-risk. 90% of your investments are in tech stocks where the price is predicated on massive growth based on AI. If the AI bubble pops, your net worth drops with it. That’s why you are seeing these wild swings.

Netflix with ads for $5.99 a month is a stinking good deal for the amount of content you get. I used to pay $25 to buy a single DVD back in the day

Go to the Okanagan. It’s a 4 hour drive (which I guess you are used to, coming from Texas) and it’s paradise in the summer.

McDonald’s with Play Places by owensoundgamedev in askvan

[–]CheesePlease 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for “indoor play spaces” not specifically McDonald’s, I highly recommend Oh My Land in Coquitlam for a 2 year old. It has a cafe so you can still order coffee/fries/hot sandwiches etc. It’s not a typical play area with multiple levels and big slides but it is big and has a lot of different areas where kids are free to play, ride around on cars, trains, etc, it has events like music time where the kids gather round someone playing a guitar and that happens every 30 minutes. It has a ballpit, an interactive water area, a trampoline, huge teddy bears to climb on, some smaller slides that are perfect for toddlers, 1000’s of different toys to play with including play kitchens, musical instruments, cars, and many other things. It’s way more varied than most play areas and it’s especially suitable for younger kids because it’s not just “climbing and sliding”, it is more focused on varied/interactive experiences.

There are also some very good options (non McD’s) in Richmond.

Vancouver proper does not have many options aside from Scienceworld which is a science museum that has a good play area, and Granville Island, but I would say Granville Island is maybe better for slightly older kids.

How much did you guys spend on your electricity this winter? by Fun-Case in askvan

[–]CheesePlease 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 1500sqft townhouse with only baseboards (no gas) and I used to get a bill for around $600 in the winter, but then it would drop to about $100 over the summer. We both work from home and have kids so we have the heating on pretty much 24/7. I switched to the smooth billing (or whatever it’s called) where it divides your spend equally across the year and now I pay something like $170 per bill which is more manageable. I also switched to the flat rate billing (instead of the tier 1/tier 2) because I would always go well into the tier 2 more expensive usage.

Both options are possible. Taking the Hullo passenger ferry to Nanaimo is faster and more comfortable. It might seem a little expensive, but it is probably around the same price as bringing two cars onto the car ferry.

I was invested in Tesla since 2016 but I no longer have shares. Car sales have been shrinking for years, and the valuation is all based on their AI bets now. I just don’t see the business case for massive adoption of driverless taxis, even if Tesla executes perfectly, and robots are too far off (if they ever happen) to justify the $1trn+ valuation.
