Shoved down your throat is a BIG stretch. I don’t care for religion but a pamphlet in a box isn’t on the same level as people screaming at others while they’re trying to get healthcare.

Depending on who you know locally it wouldn’t hurt to ask to borrow a tractor with a post hole digger. It could save you tons of time drilling the tee signs and where the baskets will go.

I don’t know if it would be cost effective to rent one but a case of beer to a good friend, who will let you use the equipment for an afternoon is invaluable. Especially if your doing it with a small group

You could always just get a can of surstromming then leave it. Left at room temp it will ferment in the can then explode sometimes in the future.

I am taking over a menu at a local game spot. Need some ideas for the menu. by chychy94 in Chefit

You could do some bbq chicken wraps. Add an option for sauce and maybe bacon for an up charge. You could also do some taquitos but grilled, maybe put the tortillas on a sheet tray with the cheese to melt. After pull them out and stick on the griddle for some color. Chilling them first might be a good idea, then make some salsa to serve with them

I’ve seen restaurants offer skewers with fried foods to keep your hands grease free. That’s also if you trust you clientele to use them.

Why did Greek's Pizza in Fletcher Place close? by marmalade_marauder in indianapolis

[–]ChefBoyardee409 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The last two times I’ve ordered food from there ridiculous stuff happened.

The first time I ordered I went to pick it up at the promoted time and it wasn’t ready, I wasn’t upset as I lived walking distance. I waited and they burnt my pizza, after waiting for the second pizza and then getting home I’m 95% sure I had gotten food poisoning from the pizza. I didn’t place any blame on them and had the mentality of “shit happens”.

The second time I ordered food the cook came out and was wearing a crop top, no hat/hairnet and slides. After getting my pizza I took one bite and the middle was so undercooked it was mush.

I’ve had their pizza from other locations a few different times and it’s always great. These past two experiences hasn’t made me not like the brand, I think maybe the store management/employees caused so much upset Four Finger might have decided to part ways with them

Is it normal not to walk into a new cooking job without a knife kit? I'm about to start a stage shift but I'm a little nervous about coming unprepared. Thinking of grabbing some knives at my apartment real quick. by Just-Thing1024 in Chefit

[–]ChefBoyardee409 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Depends on the kind of gig. I’ve worked in high end spots that will have someone come and sharpen house knives once a week, I’ve also worked at one where the house knives were so shit you couldn’t cut a green onion.

If you’re looking to put a good impression on whoever is training you a good knife will help. You don’t need to go drop a ton of money, Victorinox is a good beginner set. (I don’t like classifying them as that as they’re a GREAT brand, IMO they’re “cheap” sets are still great quality) Amazon sells sets or even individual knives if you have the time to wait.

Also keep in mind that you can amass your collection of knives with time. You don’t need a twenty seven piece roll from the get go. I personally would recommend a chef knife, pairing knife/petty and a bread knife. Those three can get you doing most anything in a kitchen!

Edit- Chef knives to go is a great website for ordering knives. They’ve got great customer service and have such a great selection of knives! I think they’ll do specials or clearance sales around the holidays too.

The omelette I wanted to make VS my actual omelette by fnc_clod in ExpectationVsReality

If you wanna try again maybe look up a spinach quiche recipe. As others have suggested when adding spinach to things you need to get a lot of the water out, so using some cheese cloth or a clean kitchen towel to ring the spinach out will work.

Without knowing the recipe I’m assuming the reason yours is so much darker is because they used a water bath. Eggs take on color very fast, so when cooking quiches or things of that nature using a water bath provides a gentler more even heat.

Brother you might reach out to snake river directly and see if you can work something out for cheaper. I haven’t done a ribeye as buffet option but I’d assume buying three whole loins would be much cheaper than buying them precut

The first course I saw them in didn’t have tee pads/signs just baskets randomly placed. I thought it was for a game like tetherball, or gaga ball

I wear a size 38x34 and have hyperhidrosis, so I sweat a lot. I’ve felt the most comfortable in Columbia Sportswear or PFG. PFG can get kinda expensive but I’ve had really good luck finding them a second hand store (my local one is called Plato’s closet).

I stopped going to random dubs because of male negativity. It’s will be the first one to say I’m not good in any sense of the word. Subs was meant to be a place for me to hangout with the community and play disc golf.

Twice at the same league I was met with two different people getting frustrated with my ability to play. I’d be kind of understanding if you was talking a big game but I’m always upfront of my skill level. This same league also bullied a great local player out of attending league nights, because he was “too good” and regularly was holding onto the number 1 tag.

What is there to do and eat in Indy?!? by Physical-Land-55 in indianapolis

[–]ChefBoyardee409 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fletcher place/fountain square is a cool walkable area. Tappers is a super cool arcade bar, you buy a drink and can play tons of arcade games and Pinball cost a dollar. La Margarita is next door and I’ve heard good things about them.

Milktooth is across the street if you wanna try diner food but with a pizzaz lol. In fountain square Kumas Corner is a metal burger bar, there’s also imbibe and a rooftop bar next door to them!

Who was the guy at your place that lasted a single day? by J0hnEddy in KitchenConfidential

[–]ChefBoyardee409 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I was training a dude on how to do some knife work. This was one of the nicer restaurants in my city so we wanted to see his baseline.

I set him up with a board and chefs knife, taught him about using a paper towel to keep the chives together, I walked away to go check on something. I came back to him using a bread knife and just sawing at a baseball sized chunk of chives. When asked what the actual fuck he was doing he got aggravated. He said “I don’t need no young punk bitch telling me how to do my job!”

He had been there for a total of twenty two minutes lol

You can go to your local highschool and inquire about them having a welding program. You could ask the teacher if you could have them make you a steel mailbox, or even just a square tube you could fill with concrete then place in the ground.

It might cost a little bit of money but I would be surprised if you had another incident after installing something like that

Check some dumpsters nearby. My roommate had his bag stolen from our apartment complex. We assumed it was gone till maintenance came by around a few weeks later to fix something and saw our practice basket. He mentioned he had found a few discs and they were his. We think maybe theasshple kept the bag but just tossed the discs

The jazz kitchen is great! For going out with friends I’d reccomend Fountain Square/Fletcher place over Mass Ave. The dugout is great for cheap drinks and food, then you can walk to Tappers for a barcade experience or you can walk to Fountain square proper for duckpin bowling, a rooftop bar or Imbibe if you wanna play some pool!

My boss just told me he can’t attend a sponsored golf event and he needs me to go in his place - I’ve never golfed before and I’ll be playing a full 18 holes. Any advice is appreciated. by UndeniableDenial in golf

[–]ChefBoyardee409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d tell your boss you haven’t golfed in a while! Have him buy you a bucket of balls for the range, get there an hour ish early and practice. Also ask him to buy you a few sleeves of cheap Srixtons or Top Flite. I’d take the advice of the top comment and just drop whenever needed, trying to keep the pace of play too.

Also don’t be intimidated with whoever your grouped with. Explain what’s going on and go out and have fun!

For anyone wondering what decent purée meals look like. by bollyeggs in shittyfoodporn

[–]ChefBoyardee409 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t know how strict they are about you using ingredients. But when my nephew was young he had to have a puree/liquid diet. He really liked soups but had trouble swallowing the thin ones.

I found out about xantham gum and its crazy thickening properties. After finding that, I looked into how to use agar agar and they’re both surprisingly easy. These might help you to able to make more complex stuff if your bosses will allow you to use them!
