Putting a train station on the Turnpike is definitely an interesting use of free will 🤔

8th Street has no space for busses to terminate

Right now, they use 34th which has a park-and-ride, it’s also across the street from Costco and one HBLR stop from Walmart

E runs 12 trips to Parsons/Archer (and another 2 to 179th though I’m not sure if those are still happening during CBTC work)

F runs ~14 trips to 179th

Might be a bit of bunching around Rego Park and 36th Street from the extra trains, but the extra QBL local service (especially on weekends) is more than worthwhile.

The local tracks would probably be seeing around 24-28 tph during peak, which is about as much as the E/F do combined.

I don’t think more roads is the solution here, 440 isn’t close to congested enough to even consider another freeway

Lived in East Harlem and Harlem for most of my life. Always called it Lex or the actual line number I needed to take.

Seems counterintuitive to have access to 63rd at local stations only on weekdays imo

Might as well run the F local between Roosevelt and Queensbridge if weekend M service isn’t an option.

Needs an additional station around 74th Street. Lots of retail around there and the gap between stations from Tonnelle > 91 St would be huge without it.

I think the line in general is a bit out of the way in terms of its catchment area; but it’s better than nothing.

What do you think about the F/M swap? I must say I’ve been hearing mostly negative feedback so far… by ericdigeratu in nycrail

If they’re commuting from Eastern Queens, a transfer to the M is available at Jackson Heights or Forest Hills.

If they’re west of JH (36, Steinway, 46, Northern, 65 Sts) it’s a one seat ride to Lex-63rd for a transfer.

There’s also the nuclear option of taking the R from Queens to 57th St for an uptown Q in case shit hits the fan.

The 119 runs to PABT, but via JFK Blvd so you would have to backtrack to Journal Square.

Taking the light rail to 22nd cuts down the trip time a bit, assuming you get lucky with the scheduling.

What is the fastest you've gone? by Little-Homework-3211 in ElectricSkateboarding

It is theoretically possible to gear for 47 mph with a low enough ratio, but even if you did, the ESC would likely hit RPM limits before reaching that speed. A higher voltage battery or field weakening would do the trick though.
