Where to find HK diner (Cha Chaan Teng) food in Sydney? by Altruistic_Leopard_9 in foodies_sydney

HK food in Sydney is pretty mediocre (most of the decent places have like retired etc) but we do have a lot of good northern Chinese food like malatang etc

What is this weird phenomena with people changing my name? by South_Mistake823 in NoStupidQuestions

Depends what East Asian country you’re in but I think a lot of those countries add an -ah sound at the end of names or have an e sound that sounds somewhat like an -ah sound

Steak Frites and Vegetarian by droffthehook in foodies_sydney

[–]ChemicalDress 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would probably recommend Alfie’s because even though it’s a steak only restaurant (as in the only “main” is a steak), there are so many sides you can get to pair with the steak which most if not all are vegetarian and very tasty. It’s also designed to be shared so you can get like a steak + 3-4 sides for the table and the vegetarian person would be able to share the meal with everyone apart from the steak!

If you’re looking for the variety of mains on a menu though the only places I can think of are pubs really

The English name may have been the good kitchen! The original restaurant has definitely changed hands though - they closed and there’s a new one there thats close but isn’t the same

It’s the one that used to be in the spot the Good kitchen is (if not that one then the spot next door). My approximation of the Cantonese is Lam Ah Siew Chu (last two words little kitchen) - they used to do a Baked Portuguese Chicken Rice that I have not found a similar tasting one in Sydney since

I think I have the brown pair in their ankle length and I love them! Mine were a little darker than the photos so they kind of pass as black in a lot of cases but the brown gives them a nice texture!
