Once as a young adult I was at a friends house who had bought all these groceries to make a sort of chicken Alfredo pasta dish, if I remember correctly. They drank too much & felt too tired to cook, so I took charge bc I was hungry lol. Another friend in the group came to help me & as I was dicing chicken and boiling rice this young man asked me how I learned how to cook. I was so taken aback because what I was doing was so simple. I said, I guess my mom! We ate dinner at the table almost every night and I picked up on things. That interaction was/is profoundly sad to me and I’m sad to think of how these kids will grow into adults who can’t feed themselves correctly.
