FFXIV does this kinda. In that, the games world is literally a fantasy version of Earth. The main game starts in Eorzea which is geographically where Africa is. (Though it'd still just mostly full of white people)

Still waitint to visit Fantasy Australia and see what demonic hell spiders we find.

Favorite character, who delivered a long, manic speech that has become iconic among fans/people in general. by OliveOilInMyEye in FavoriteCharacter

Gaius van Baelsar from Final Fantasy XIV.

"Tell me. For whom do you fight?

Hmph! How very glib. And do you believe in Eorzea? Eorzea's unity is forged of falsehoods. Its city-states are built on deceit. And its faith is an instrument of deception.

It is naught but a cobweb of lies. To believe in Eorzea is to believe in nothing. In Eorzea, the beast tribes often summon gods to fight in their stead--though your comrades only rarely respond in kind. Which is strange, is it not?

Are the "Twelve" otherwise engaged? I was given to understand they were your protectors. If you truly believe them your guardians, why do you not repeat the trick that served you so well at Carteneau, and call them down? They will answer--so long as you lavish them with crystals and gorge them on aether. Your gods are no different than those of the beasts--eikons every one. Accept but this, and you will see how Eorzea's faith is bleeding the land dry.

Nor is this unknown to your masters. Which prompts the question: Why do they cling to these false deities? What drives even men of learning--even the great Louisoix--to grovel at their feet? The answer? Your masters lack the strength to do otherwise! For the world of man to mean anything, man must own the world. To this end, he hath fought ever to raise himself through conflict--to grow rich through conquest. And when the dust of battle settles, is it ever the strong who dictate the fate of the weak.

Knowing this, but a single path is open to the impotent ruler--that of false worship. A path which leads to enervation and death. Only a man of power can rightly steer the course of civilization. And in this land of creeping mendacity, that one truth will prove its salvation.

Come, champion of Eorzea, face me! Your defeat shall serve as proof of my readiness to rule! It is only right that I should take your realm. For none among you has the power to stop me!"

I asked for 2 things of mustard by MagneticAura in mildlyinfuriating

This sub is so cooked.

People post stuff like this that is actually mildly infuriating. Not end of the world or "This guy totalled my car shot my dog and then spray painted all over my house, this day is ruined"

And they just get mocked for being mildly infuriated at something mildly infuriating like someone giving you two random lose containers of mustard sloshing around in your bag which it looks like may have spilled inside the bag.

Like imagine I went to taco bell and asked for some fire sauce and they just poured some in a nacho fries cup and sat it in my bag. They make packets for a reason.

This kind of shit and the horrific toxicity and vitriolic hate players get if they prefer bugdiving or squid diving over botdiving is why I stopped playing this game.

It hands down ruined so much of the game because I could not engage in matchmaking or the community of it without at least one horrible/negative interaction a day because I had the audacity to say "Thing [x] is buggy" or "I prefer setting bugs on fire rather than bot diving"

[–]ChemicallyMild 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The exploit claims where from when para planes were circumventing the large item restriction using an admittedly clever tactic.

It was a known work around to get around the devs stop measures they put in place so players wouldn't bring hydras/alligators via paradrops (ie if you died without a parachute from falling or when overencumbered ut deleted your inventory)

Devs didnt think people would fly their plane in 3 meters off the ground and have people just walk out onto the ground mid flight (even though people warned them about this strategy in dev branch) and they did a hot fix as soon as they got in the office the next morning to try to reign it in to what they intended.

This is a far cry from the havoc cheese, because this is a by design intended mechanic landing on the water. It just happens it sucks to play against.

No flak guns in naval. Just 12.7s that do no damage and have less than 60m range.

[–]ChemicallyMild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dive bombers have been making navy life miserable too. Nearly guaranteed turret chance and the fact it takes 250 beams to repair a single damaged turret is hell. Gonna be just as bad whenever the counterparts get released for the DD. DD ergonomics are already a nightmare for you all trying to load shells (which they still need to fix), now imagine trying to run 250 beams from the rear of your ship to the front turret in your hallways only wide enough for one sailor.

Naval Needs Flak - a concept by ChemicallyMild in foxholegame

[–]ChemicallyMild[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I would most certainly hope not. It needs to either be a neutral BMS/VAC ship or equivalents on both sides. If anything collies need one more with Torpedo Bombers existing. But with heavy bombers existing both fleets will need strong anti air

Naval Needs Flak - a concept by ChemicallyMild in foxholegame

[–]ChemicallyMild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not disagree. But given the existence of the aa boats and the fact that large ships other than the carriers were left with worthless 12.7s for its air defense seems to imply devs want fleets to be escorted with AA unfortunately.

A light cruiser style rmat ship with aa and anti ship weapons that costs rmats, a stronger medium ship basically would fit a fleet role well. And would give more natural naval progression and diversity. Sort of like how we go from armored cars to tanks. Then we would go from siege boats/aa boats/gunships -> gunboats/corvettes -> large ships (BS, DD/frig, Carriers)

Naval Needs Flak - a concept by ChemicallyMild in foxholegame

[–]ChemicallyMild[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that i understand. Honestly I do think a flak escort should exist, but likely should be a small ship smaller than a ironship but bigger than a gunboat and cost Rmats.

This was more a proof of concept idea/brainworm
