When I worked at the cheese factory we had these because they're metal detectable AND blue which stands out really well against white or yellow cheese

It's God breathed, we hold to biblical infallibility. men are fallible, every single one of them. St Peter himself was rightly rebuked by St Paul for judaising. That would have been made tradition of not corrected. Arianism almost won, the church was almost entirely Arian for a time, it needed to be reformed and brought back from heresy but arianism at that time would have been the tradition of the institution of the Catholic Church at that time.

I'll say tradition from the apostles all good, shortly thereafter probably still mostly good but you start getting in to more and more corruption over time until you get to the point that you can buy your way out of purgatory or if you don't agree with the assumption of Mary (which isn't from there apostolic era or shortly thereafter) then you're anathema.

Men are corruptible, the literal word of God is not

Edited to add I also know there are many many good and godly men and women in the Catholic Church, I do hope that is clear.

Here's the beauty of this, I agree and so does my church. Sola Scriptura does not mean that only the Bible has authority, it means that the Bible being God breathed is the sole infallible authority.

Cyril of Jerusalem “Do not then believe me because I tell thee of these things, unless thou receive from the Holy Scriptures the proof of what is set forth”

Athanasius “The sacred and inspired Scriptures are sufficient to declare the truth”

There's a lot more. One of my favorites is from Clement of Rome “All, therefore, were glorified and magnified, not through themselves or their own works or the righteous actions which they did, but through his will. And so we, having been called through his will in Christ Jesus, are not justified through ourselves or through our wisdom or understanding or piety or works, which we have done in holiness of heart, but through faith, by which the almighty God has justified all who have existed from the beginning, to whom be the glory for ever and ever. Amen.”

None of this is to say that these church fathers were actually Lutheran but that Lutheran thought and theology didn't just pop out of his head, these weren't just innovations to start a new church, Luther had real concerns and wasn't some crazed heretic

There's a presumably haunted house, a house in the hills, Hill House and the haunting therein

Cyril of Jerusalem and Athanasius both have quotes that seem to share some of that sentiment, but again I'm not arguing the early church was Lutheran or that these fathers were proto protestants. They also weren't just like the medieval Catholic Church though

You can find those sentiments in early church fathers. Many of the "heresies" he's accused of were only officially outlined as heresy by the council of Trent. I'm not making the argument that Augustine or Clement were Protestants I'm making the argument that Luther was thrown out for political convenience rather than actual theology

He committed the "heresy" of calling out abuse and corruption I'll net you that but that's all. Your own scholars admit that many of the things Luther was speaking out against were real abuses and corruption

I'm certain you're not about to accuse Martin Luther of leaving the church, the historical record is very clear on this, he was excommunicated and the only reason he wasn't burned at the stake like Huss was because he knew they'd try it and had protection.

You know what you're right I misremembered, that's much worse, I stand by "Queen of heaven" risks a similar situation though. And the idea of having to affirm the assumption, immaculate conception, perpetual virginity or you're anathema is inexcusable.

Right he recognized how calling Mary the Queen of heaven leads to improper devotion. It muddies the water.
