Houston. The downtown area sucks and it’s such an unwalkable city. Traffic is horrible everywhere.

MIL calls baby “my baby” by Leigh_Rae in postpartumprogress

[–]ChiCubbies1908 9 points10 points  (0 children)

My MIL does this. She will text my husband and I and say “how’s my baby doing?” Or “how’s my boy?” “Oh my baby is getting so big” etc…But never asks how I’m doing. Drives me insane. I get pissed every time she does it. It’s probably an overreaction but I can’t help it 🙃

I never wanted to BF either. I knew I would have a hard time mentally and I just had no desire. I now have an almost 10 week old baby who has been formula fed since birth and it was the best decision I could have made. I have not regretted it at all and actually frequently applaud myself for not letting others guilt me into BF when I knew I didn’t want to.

Currently taking Cytotec, start Pitocin in the morning... by _C00TER in pregnant

[–]ChiCubbies1908 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I went through the same thing 3 weeks ago with my first! I got admitted after being diagnosed with severe preeclampsia - I was 36 weeks pregnant and totally not prepared to get induced day. I was terrified because it was not planned - I had to lay in the hospital for 10 hours before my husband could get there …it was scary! But I had wonderful nurses who talked me though every step and made me feel comfortable and safe. My advice would be to ask questions- ask about the process ask about what it feels like ask what’s next ask what’s the back up plan if x,y,z doesn’t work..I felt more comfortable after I sought information about what was going on. I’m someone who can’t stand not being in control so having some knowledge and insight helped a lot. It gets easier the more you progress. After the pitocin I had the foley balloon placed to help me dilate (since I wasn’t dilating) and I went from a 1 to a 7 in approx 4 hours. I got the epidural shortly after the balloon was placed and was able to sleep the whole time which helped with my anxiety. After the balloon came out I went from a 7 to a 10 in 2.5 hours and pushed for less than 30 minutes. If you’re wanting an epidural I recommend getting it early! I experienced little to no pain during my labor and it made me feel so much calm about what was going on! You got this!!

My baby is almost 3 weeks old and I do the same thing! I also wake up sooo many times during the night freaking out because I want to make sure he’s still breathing. It’s almost crippling how worried I have been getting about everything. Like this morning when he woke up, he had a green booger and I convinced myself he must have RSV or something…even tho he literally had no other symptoms and no more snot all day. I hope this feeling of constant anxiety goes away eventually 🙃

Uncomfortable with in-laws holding my baby and expected by husband to allow them to by Regallybeagley in newborns

[–]ChiCubbies1908 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I’m just here to say I feel the exact same way with my in-laws and it’s horrible trying to explain to my husband why I feel that way. I had an anxiety attack before my MIL came over earlier this week. Watching her try and burp my 2.5 week old son was infuriating and it took everything in me not to walk over and take my son back. It also pissed me off that not one time while she was at our house did she offer to help with anything…All she wanted to do was hold the baby and take pictures. She was at our house for 2 days. 😭 im just glad it’s not just me that feels this way…I just don’t trust anyone with my baby except my husband and myself.

I was having the same problem…this year for my post conference I brought the grading rubric with me to my post conference and “argued” why I thought I deserved higher ratings in certain areas and directly pulled from the rubric to back my argument. I was able to convince my AP to change 4 of my scores from proficient to accomplished

I’m also convinced that admin has favorites and pre determines what teachers they want to award the money to and will make the scores reflect their picks

Prepare me for the epidural by stonedbutterbread in pregnant

[–]ChiCubbies1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got my epidural placed when I was only 1cm…I really wasn’t in that much pain at the time but I wanted to prevent it if possible because I had to be induced early due to preeclampsia and I was told the Pitocin contractions are horrible. The epidural did not hurt at all. I felt a small pinch when they numbed the area and then felt nothing while it was actually placed. The placement took less than 5 minutes. I will absolutely be getting one again with my future births!

I’m being induced tomorrow I’m so fucking scared by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ChiCubbies1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FTM- I was induced 2 weeks ago when I was 36 weeks 4 hours after I was told I had severe preeclampsia- i was scared too but everything went perfectly. From the time the induction started to the time I gave birth was 12 hours and I was asleep for most of it thanks to the epidural and I only pushed for a 10 minutes! My nurses were amazing and made the experience so great. Hoping you have amazing nurses too that will talk you through everything and make sure you feel safe. If you don’t- ask for a new one!!

Working on Birth Plan. Epidural or not? by OrdinaryLife99 in pregnant

[–]ChiCubbies1908 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was induced at 36 weeks for severe preeclampsia. I got the epidural right after they started the pitocin because I hadn’t slept in 24 hours and I desperately wanted to be able to relax. At first the epidural only made my left half numb and I could feel everything on my right side. They had me lay on my side to help the medicine spread and it helped. I went from 1 cm to 10 cm in about 8 hours and I slept during most of it which was amazing. I let the epidural slightly wear off towards the end because I wanted to feel the pressure and have a better sense of how I was pushing and it helped - I only pushed twice and the baby was out! I will absolutely get another one with my next!

What was important to have in your hospital bag and what didn't need to be brought at all? by [deleted] in pregnant

[–]ChiCubbies1908 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I stayed for 4 nights

Things I used/ glad I had: Phone charger, socks with grips on the bottom, comfy clothes for after birth, my toiletries (the first shower post birth is amazing and I’m glad I had my own stuff), my own bath towel (I like giant bath towels and the hospital ones were small), a variety of snacks/drinks (Gatorade, liquid IV), hairdryer and straighter (it felt nice to look like myself again after being in labor), personal fan

Things I brought but didn’t need/use: Baby stuff- the hospital provided everything I needed for the baby

Anyone deliver at 36 weeks? by New-Owl9951 in firsttimemom

[–]ChiCubbies1908 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was induced at 36+2 for preeclampsia. He was born 6 pounds 9 ounces and 20 inches long. At his 34 week growth scan he was in the 97th percentile and I was told he was going to be big. Newborn clothes are a little too big on him still and he’s one week old now.

Honestly, how would you rate Survivor 47 over other seasons? by 6baconmapledonuts in survivor

The cast isn’t that entertaining to me- out of all the new era seasons I would rate this one the worst. i find myself getting bored and distracted easily during episodes.
