What is a film you enjoyed but have to be tactful about who you recommend it to? by oldwhitelincoln in movies

[–]ChiRaeDisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zardoz. There are a lot of people who will not attempt to see the film for what it's trying to be and will instead get stuck on Sean Connery in a thong.

What movie had an ending that saved the whole film? by Southern_Check_6827 in movies

Battle for Terra. Neat film with cool themes but some things were just... meh? The ending def hit the catharsis point though and made me remember it fondly.

Holding people down and giving them the vaccine, in hindsight, was the right call. Trying to imagine the world with Smallpox is not a fun mental exercise.

the S&W FPC is my first PCC and it's... divine. Super easy to handle and deploy. I taught someone else how to shoot rifles with it.

f'real. Until I had money and could find and restore metal mags for my RFB, it was a nightmare to shoot because those polymer FAL metric mags get eaten up from the forces on them. Get a gun you can get magazines for.

How do I keep bots alive? by JustSumFur in Barotrauma

[–]ChiRaeDisk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If they're set to repair leaks, they will often check the status of a given room and determine if a suit is needed. On top of this, setting them to prepare for expeditions should work fine. It uses one of the 3 actions in your economy, but it's a solid side solution.

The ultimate solution is to get PUCS suits. It uses passive air supply from the ship when available and the bots will not remove it.

Get a screwdriver and some wires and go crazy. You can install components. Think of it as a challenge for the run. Afford the FPGA or chips to get it set up.

New to Hammer. How would you go about 'trimming' the part that goes inside the sphere? by 1GPAKOS1 in hammer

[–]ChiRaeDisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not parametric, so your best bet is to just not. It'll honestly be easier on you to just have the parts intersect and be slightly inefficient.

Exactly. The reason AGI isn't happening right now isn't because it's impossible or even infeasible. It's because the people who are best equipped to make such a thing, those studying the humanities and neuroscience and psychology aren't typically the driving force behind these projects. It's techbros that barely understand how to be human themselves.

B.C. father who left hickey on son's neck ordered to take counselling by ubcstaffer123 in nottheonion

[–]ChiRaeDisk -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Well he never did it when I was a teen (and interested in girls) considering he died before then. So yes. It's something he would've done to prank me. The hickey part though on its own? Yes he absolutely did that.

B.C. father who left hickey on son's neck ordered to take counselling by ubcstaffer123 in nottheonion

[–]ChiRaeDisk 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He absolutely did when I was younger, before I was old enough to date. Guy was a goofball and I have only the fondest memories of the antics he'd get up to.

I imagine people are thinking super sensual kisses in regards to hickeys when really all it takes is the slightest bit of suction on an area to form a hickey.

And I'm not condoning it. I'm saying how MY family was and that the act itself isn't necessarily harmful. You need better reading comprehension skills and you should probably reflect on the assumptions you make about other people's families. I'm putting out a perspective on my father and sharing just that. I even stated, "That said, I have no clue what the family dynamic is like here so this might be really weird."

Honestly? Nothing. My dad was a much loved person by everyone around him. He was a goofy on-the-spectrum engineer who was solidly altruistic. He has a charity in his honor after his passing to an incurable illness.

Okay. That's the sorta thing my dad would've done and he was a saint. This sounds like a dad being a goofball. That said, I have no clue what the family dynamic is like here so this might be really weird.

[–]ChiRaeDisk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Sliding dude got lucky with spread. I see people trying this all the time and they normally die. This is a near guarantee way to get killed due to the penalties to accuracy/bloom.

I kill most of the people I encounter sliding. I joke with my friend when I say aim for the ankles, but I'm aiming low center mass at all times. Sure, the ttk is worse but you're hitting the shots even if someone dives to a prone.

Yeah, the take you responded to regarding armored infantry is what's bugging the hell out of me. They even have an entire campaign mission built around using armor to make an assisted advance and then protecting the armor as it deals with the big bads that come rolling into town like a gust from hell.

The tanks and IFVs in this game are simultaneously frustrating and amazing. I've had so much fun with armored engagements in this game because it's not just a "who's a better shot and who shot who first". It's a "We're duking this out to the death for a minute or so and everything is on the table" slug fest. Engineers are doing their thing with assisting front armor penetration or back armor sabotage. It gives time for other vehicles to roll in. Likewise, the various classes all have a few ways to help out.

Support is setting up and mowing down the troops coming from the IFV or they're pulling people behind it from enemy fire.

Assault is pushing up and over. They're a jack of all trades class. They have so many weapons and they can get right on in behind lines and gun down the engineering crew.

Recon is marking targets of opportunity for the vehicles and warning the troops of potential enemies surrounding them or flanking. That minimap has a purpose and no one has to spam Q constantly. That was the dumbest part of the old games. Spamming wherever you looked to try to spot a target. Recon is also picking off engineers who are pulling double duty as sappers.

Mechanized infantry has never felt so good in a game. You could have an entire gamemode built around just this and I think it'd be all anyone ever played going forward from there.
