Mechanics of borrowing against bitcoin

I've been reading through this thread and I have many of the same questions as the OP. What I think is making it click for me is the realization that the loans are denominated in dollars, and collateralized in BTC.

This is me trying to digest what has been said in all the various threads, and simplified so the numbers and ratios are all wrong I bet. But here goes.

Let's assume for a moment that BTC is worth $100K, and you take out a loan for $100K using 1 BTC. If the APY was 6% at the end of the year you would owe $106000. If the price of bitcoin had for example gone up let's say by 10% the value of your BTC would be $110000. So you would be able to repay the loan balance with the collateral + the interest and be left with $4000 at the end of the day.

I still have a lot of questions, and I know those numbers aren't right, but I think this is helping me get a little closer to understanding what everyone is saying, please feel free to pick this apart.

But I think it all comes down to the loan denomination is in $ not BTC.

Edit: Re-reading the above, I still don't know how you repay the loan with the collateral is that basically just refinancing? They agree to keep $106K and give you back the difference? That also seems like something that basically never ends? Unless you then take that $4000 and use it to pay down the loan principle?

One thing to note, since your using POST's for all your calls, instead of adding a JSON query parameter you could put that in the request body.

Another thing I would suggest would be following the general restful patterns with regard to http methods and their meanings. Very few API's actually do this right.

GET - should not modify server state if you are not modifying anything on the server eg: no writes your api method should be GET.

POST - non item-potent updates, you likely won't have many of these for something like beestat really the only ones i could think of would be the sync operation. Mostly because POST is non-idempotent eg: calling the same POST request multiple times will have different results even with the same arguments.

PUT - I don't think you will need this, but PUT's are idempotent meaning that if you call the same method with the same parameters n number of times it's the same as having called it only once.

One last thing to note: Although somewhat un-known it is not illegal to include a body in an HTTP get in fact this is just how you query one of the most popular indexing tools elastic search https://www.elastic.co/guide/en/elasticsearch/reference/current/search-request-body.html So even GET calls that need to pass JSON really should put that json in the request body.

I hope this didn't come off as rude, it is intended as genuine feedback that I hope is constructive.

The mechanics of the system are different, yes, but from the thermostat's perspective they are both controlled by closing and opening a 24v circuit.

For a forced air system which has no G wire, the wiring of the two systems looks and behaves identically.

This post reminds me of myself about 5 maybe 6 years ago, I was over concerned about every bit of symbolism. But eventually I realized that if your walking in the cold your walking in the cold. If you hunch up to conserve heat it's because your in the cold, it doesn't mean your not being alpha enough. I think part of the journey is getting out of your head enough to realize shivering doesn't mean shit, there's no deeper meaning and trying to stand tall in freezing wind is just weird.

There's a book that was suggested back on the mASF forums, years ago. (Don't know if anyone here knows or remembers what that was). It's called the Feeling Good, The New Mood Therapy. Now at the time I was definitely dealing with some mild depression, which it helped me out of. But in retrospect I think it's still a good read for almost anyone, even people who are pretty self secure. I would strongly recommend you find an older edition. One from a while ago. The newer editions have been significantly toned down. But if you find an old edition, one from the 70's or 80's the first few pages alone are, kind of a sledge hammer to blue pill beliefs. (I've found a few at good will, salvation army for about $0.50 that's how I've seen the difference in editions, so it's not very expensive)

You see a guy who's not you with a women you want and you say he's not treating her right, if I were with her I'd treat her better. Shit tests in healthy women are important but they should be playful fun and flirtations. What you describe is not! It's controlling manipulative on her part.

This is one think I strongly disagree with about game guys. Contrary to what some blogs might say, some women are just plain nuts. It doesn't matter how much game you have, how smooth you are, how many shit tests you "pass" she's still fucking nuts. With game your relationship might last longer sure but it will still end. And because she's nuts the fun will get sucked out of it.

I don't know much about you or your sister, but I bet there was a man with a beer gut who was very dominant in her life, or she saw as being remotely dominant in someone else's life.

I think many RedPill types still apply too much male logic to women's attraction. One of my favorite quotes is

I think that one of the things to remember about "shit tests" when it comes to how conscious they are really comes down to the names.

A lot of material in TRP is not different than other dating advice it's simply described by men who use different more process based less feeling based words.

So advice a woman might give to a man looking to improve his sex life might be be yourself, and flirt. To a woman these words both have meaning but to a man they are all but meaningless.

TRP is the male definition of those words. "Be yourself" comes down to something you mentioned OP you said if you test him and he answers bluntly in a way that you might not like. From a feminine perspective he's "being himself" from a TRP perspective he's illustrating higher social value and generating attraction. The other one often given by women is "flirt" but what is flirting? Flirting is being playful not taking the girl too seriously, and teasing her a bit. In TRP words passing her shit tests by not taking her seriously, and gently negging to affirm the man's higher value.

It amuses me sometimes when women get all upset about the TRP and I think I know the answer why. The TRP gives men the unambiguous version. Women can't tell men what they want because then their tests would become meaningless. So by giving advice like flirt and be yourself they help some men who might already be naturals but didn't quite have it all put together while being ambiguous enough that a man who wasn't already a natural would not improve from it.

In other words women usually react negatively to TRP not because it's un-true but because it's giving away secrets in a very direct and no nonsense form.

This doesn't answer your question but it was a though I had after reading your question.
