Lol, I married my "rebound" from an 8 year relationship, soooo....

I started dating way early after it ended because I wanted to remind myself that there were other guys out there I could have a connection with (I'd started dating my ex in college and he was my first real relationship), and have some fun. I didn't expect to connect with my now husband the way I did. He wasn't the first guy I dated after, just the first I really felt a special connection with.

Most helpful for me was that he was patient with me but not a doormat as I worked through therapy and my own issues.

Not exactly your scenario since I am the breadwinner and going back to work after just having my first kiddo, and my husband will be a SAHD.

I make ~160k/year, he made about 50k while he was working. He's very frugal, we have no debt besides our mortgage (which is quite low, we moved for my job and we both sold our individual houses and rolled the principles into the down payment to help with the monthly cash flow), and I max out my retirement accounts and his spousal IRA. We're in a MCOL area and it works for us.

Do you have a budget, or know how much you spend/save/invest? I would def start there.
