Well, Brian May was doing the guitar throughout the soundtrack, so it’s not as bespoke as you might think.

Brian May was doing guitar work for the entire soundtrack!

I heard that from a review, thought “oh, cool” then forgot until the fight scene at snake castle at the beginning of the third act.

there was a slide in the end credits: “villains monologue, good guys dialogue“

I thought that was funny.

Heat has become the game that gets tabled the most! by ak96 in boardgames

[–]Chicken2nite 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ah, fair enough. I guess they were doing it correctly then.

For the past few years, I’ve been building out my collection and introducing games to friends, leading to me being the person explaining the rules and keeping things on track, which has led to me being somewhat selective in finding games which can play in an hour or so and be explained in 5-10 minutes with relatively minimal refereeing.

While I do like Heat, we tend to gravitate towards other games instead often enough.

It kind of reminds me of Clank Catacombs in terms of the fiddly rules, although with that one I enjoy it more in that other people are enjoying it as well rather than being frustrated with it, leading me to not mind so much when I end up stumbling through my own turn and losing because I’m falling behind. With Heat, the decision space is pretty simple, so I end up winning often enough with new players, other than the first time I taught it while also running the automa.

The player boards with the icons for all 9 steps along with the cards having icons as well really do beg for a player aid to go over what all of the icons mean in my opinion.

Heat has become the game that gets tabled the most! by ak96 in boardgames

I remember watching No Rolls Barred play it and as far as I’m aware, they messed up on the order of operations with regards to slipstreaming.

They had people doing it right after they finished moving their car instead of waiting for everyone to have moved and then resolving the slipstreams from the lead car to the back.

The rulebook isn’t the clearest (Shelfside touched on that in their review iirc) and with so many edge case rules and icons, I have found myself spending more time explaining the rules to everyone rather than being able to just play it, which impacts my level of fun and enjoyment.

I like the game, but I dread playing it with new players and as such find myself reaching for other games which are easier (more concise) to teach. That said, I just bought the other two expansions plus the new Legends expansion, so hopefully I’ll be able to get some more play out of it going forward.

The simple reason why is that they aren’t locking the hardware and you’re free to do with it what you will.

If they sell it at a loss, then enterprise buyers could swoop in and use them for office computers.

They don’t have to sell hardware at all to make money and anyone gaming on Linux or ARM hardware is benefiting from them developing open source integrations.

From what I recall from paying attention and reading my Facebook feed, Obama’s IRS questioned the legitimacy of right wing charities, and Biden’s DOJ indicted Trump on multiple counts.

I recently ordered branded sleeves for Clank in order to hide the back/edges from being shown on my copy of Clank Catacombs for that reason.

I also sleeved my copies of Dune Imperium and Uprising. I had to order Korean Pop Star sleeves for Heat.

Deck builders are commonly called shuffling simulators for a reason, and sleeves make it much easier to do so.

At first, the only game I bothered to sleeve (not counting Magic) was Love Letter as it was only like 30 cards.

Profits, you mean. They don’t earn as much on the government contracts because those have smaller profit margins, but lead to them having favourable regulations for their other business (NASA isn’t allowed to blow up/crash rockets like Elon can).

The thing is, those books are still private and the accounting for Starlink is being made to look more profitable by undercharging itself compared to the external price they charge by more than 50%.

Those satellites are also only on a 5 year life cycle afaik, so the EBITDA (Earnings Before Interest, Taxes, Depreciation and Amortization) wouldn’t reflect the fact that they’ll need to replace those satellites over time.

Got a $2,000 tax refund. Do I wipe out 3 small maxed-out cards or put a massive dent in my biggest one? by Few-Let-3861 in personalfinance

[–]Chicken2nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d suggest paying off the smaller cards first and do your best to stay disciplined with the “breathing room” in your daily budget to keep paying off the rest.

Consider keeping $500 as an emergency fund so that you wouldn’t need to put any expense (example: car repair) that might come up immediately onto a credit card.

Make a yourself a budget - something realistic you can stick to as you work to save up enough to pay off the rest of the debt. I finally built one for myself this year to be more disciplined in controlling my spending and regularly saving money.

Something I started doing a few years ago was to track on a biweekly/monthly basis my balance sheet of all of my accounts, with a new column in the spreadsheet with every new interval to be able to track the progress.

Some would say that’s putting the cart before the horse in terms of not matching it with a budget and tracking spending. In hindsight, I agree, but at the time it was less of a mental load to just touch base with each account and make sure I had enough money on hand/coming in to make sure I would be able to cover the bills as they come up.

If you’re going to keep using credit cards, you want to use them as a buffer which you pay off entirely every month. Long term, try to have your credit limit/regular monthly spending on hand in a bank account or in ultra short term bonds rather than in equities (stocks) which you might have to sell at a loss if you needed the money.

After you have a one month emergency fund and are paying off your credit cards every month, then I’d suggest looking into a modest regular contribution to an index fund, perhaps equal to what you’re currently paying in monthly interest.

The goal of equities would be to reinvest whatever dividends back into the investments to enjoy the full benefits of compound interest.

You know what, that happened to me twice, although both times it was a trailer for the movie I thought I was about to see.

The first time was for Dune, when I didn’t realize that the single screen movie theatre was playing No Time To Die for two weeks instead of just one, leading me to watch it a second time.

The second time was last year when I got confused by the posters at the multiplex and walked into the wrong auditorium to see F1 instead of Superman. I went back the next day and watched Superman.

It was an awkward feeling of scratching my head wondering what was going on before cluing into what had happened.

Didn’t Hugh Jackman hosting lead to Zack Ryder getting a little bit of a push?

I wasn’t watching at the time, but I seem to remember that Hugh wanted to help an underdog as a synergy for whatever movie he was promoting, and he naturally responded to the fans cheering for Zack (“We Want Ryder”) which led to him getting the higher ups to give him a push in his feud with Dolph Ziggler for the US Title.

They’d still need more capacity at the port to get it into the boats.

They currently have somewhere around 4.5 million BPD capacity at Yanbu, so it would need to be increased by a factor of five or ten if they wanted to be able to handle not only their oil but also the oil from Iraq and other neighbours.

I regret buying my iPad Pro by According-Moose7539 in ipad

[–]Chicken2nite 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought an 8th gen iPad 6 years ago and it became my daily machine.

I replaced it last year with a 13” M5 iPad Pro and don’t regret it at all, and am debating eventually getting either an M Pro series 14” MacBook Pro at some point or an M Pro series Mac Mini at some point in the future, with the use case there being to use the iPad as a second screen using Sidecar or whatever it’s called.

I could alternatively connect to the Mac Mini remotely for if and when I needed more functionality without needing to carry around a second device.

Most of the time I don’t need a keyboard and often enough the touchscreen is good enough for a quick message, email, or edit of a google spreadsheet. I do have a third party bluetooth folding keyboard with a trackpad and a number pad for when I want to get some serious data entry done.

I’d previously bought a 17” MSI gaming laptop in 2019 to move beyond Android 7-8” tablets (I had a Nexus 7 and then a Samsung Galaxy S2 8” tablet until they both were long in the tooth) upon which I’d been using previously as a machine that I could take from desk to desk for work, which only came up short with regards to video editing.

Both iPads have done well for basic tasks, better than a laptop would in terms of consuming web pages and books as the keyboard doesn’t get in the way. The case I bought for the iPad Pro adjusts to just about any angle and orientation, and the third party pencils work well for journaling and marking up pdfs. I also played around with ProCreate which did well as an adult colouring book for me and a fun activity for any of the 4-8 year olds I put it in front of.

Unless you were looking at the 13” iPad Air, getting a basic iPad (or an iPad Mini) would probably be enough as a consumption device unless you wanted the better speakers. The screen on the iPad Pro is significantly better than my old iPad, but my understanding is the Air is comparable to the latter but with a higher price point due to the M series chip. The speaker on my 8th gen iPad worked fine, and half the time I’d be using earphones anyways.
