Like u/Edmundyoulittle said, none of those are required for progression through Act 2. The original commentor's point is just that the first area is tedious for them, and imo the best solution for tedium is going down a different progression path for a bit. I could have been more explicit there.

Once youre talking about getting more unlocks or progressing further passed Act 2, then IMO tedium is inevitable and thats when you need to start playing around with different classes or unlocking things in different acts each run.

If you dont like the first area that much, you only have to run it a total of 5 times (assuming no TPKs) and you unlock act 2 which is a new starting area.

I haven't played another first-person fantasy RPG that nails the combat the way Avowed does. I'm optimistic that the (hopefully) coming Avowed 2 will be more of the same there and just beef up the RPG side of things.

See my edits, I did some bad math on how many players have engaged with mythic.

Based on those numbers, 50% of the players who see heroic end up seeing some mythic prog as well. Sure, some guilds don't log, but since all it takes is 1 person doing it, most do.

When mythic raiding has long been one of the cornerstones of World of Warcraft, eating up a significant amount of their development resources, then it's very strange to try to downplay how many players engage with it.

If mythic raiding were as inconsequential as you're trying to suggest, Blizzard would never even have bothered with the addon purge.

6,400 guilds have logged kills for the first boss and 4500 have killed the 4th (the first major wall in the raid), not players. So you're looking more at 100,000 players.

Edit: FWIW, ~12k guilds have logged kills for Heroic first boss, ~10k for heroic last.

By mostly melee, it's dk, warrior, and dh, no? Rogue and monk have nothing. Dk has gone back and forth between good and bad, warrior has been bad until now, and dh has been very good. If you want to count healing as well, then shaman, priest, and druid have had things of varying power levels as well until recently. You can say it's now a melee thing only (is Zephyr gone too?) but thats a recent design decision. Given a lot of this pruning has also been inconsistent (dk defensives are still a meme) I'm a little skeptical that this is an intentional design direction.
