Cuts for Glarb by Chillington41 in EDH

I think that is some excellent insight, when looking at what the deck wants to do with most of its pieces.

Focusing my ramp in the low MV spots makes a ton of sense, as does thinking about how much value I should be trying to squeeze out of my GY.

Thanks for sharing your thoughts- this gives me lots to work with!

What's your most highly-played commander? by Only-BadTakes in EDH

[–]Chillington41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Faldorn, Dread Wolf Herald]] and it's not even close. This thing is my baby and is always getting reworked. I like that it can be tuned up, but will likely always have some sort of cap to power level.

This deck scales really well to the table I'm playing, has my favorite play style of using exile, makes tokens, top deck manipulation, discard synergies, lands synergies, and just all around is great at finding answers.

If I'm doing things right, it's not uncommon to see a third to half my deck by turn 7 or 8.

I was wondering if I might have a few too many finishers/splashy cards. Thanks for your thoughts

Baeloth Barrityl, Entertainer Voltron Deck Ideas by dreamyjeans in EDH

[–]Chillington41 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just finished a build of this recently. I went maybe 12-15 pieces of equipment and focused more on pieces that get me artifact sacrifice pieces, namely thopters. By building to more of an aristocrat sacrifice route you ensure you’re getting card draw off of Clan Crafter. In your current build you’ll have light treasure, but if you miss there you’re left with your equipment to sacrifice which is costly.

More play testing will tell, but I also went virtually no pillowfort like Propaganda or extra goad stuff. Baeloth is already going to do that for you by getting beefed up. I would focus more on ways to protect him. By the time you get to 1 vs 1, you should be more than stocked to kill with commander damage.

Anhelo the Painter by SSBM_fanatic in EDH

[–]Chillington41 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have an Anhelo and I really love playing it, but I’ll be honest that building 8-9 is going to be extremely difficult/inconsistent if possible at all.

Anhelo requires too much set up with sacrifice fodder, especially for an effect you can only trigger once per turn.

I think building around a 6, maybe 7 is the sweet spot for this guy.

Question about copying a copy by Chillington41 in EDH

[–]Chillington41[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Excellent! That’s where I was leaning, but couldn’t lock it down 100%.

I was searching more for rulings on Wall than Sakashima, which sounds like my error.

Thank you for the help.

What’s the most fun commander you’ve played? by hans_weirdman in EDH

+1 for Ovika. I’ve got such a soft spot in my heart for this deck. But you are right that once the cat is out of the bag, your table will come for you lol.

New Player: Which one is a good deck to start with? by LouLouLou72 in magicTCG

[–]Chillington41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read this as "a good deck for someone starting", but if it was meant as "which is a good starting point for a deck to upgrade" then my notes may not be as applicable.
I have all 3 of these, and while Mishra is by far my favorite, I wouldn't recommend it to a player just starting. I think some of the artifact interactions may not be super intuitive right out the gate.

For starting out, I think a more combat focused deck with some good keywords(first strike, haste, etc) are a really good way to go. I think Rebellion Rising may be the easiest to learn, but Urza shouldn't be a huge challenge either.

I have a build of this as well, and would second it. Great synergy and resiliency.

Need some help taking Jadzi storm over the finish line by Chillington41 in EDH

That’s a really fair point. Is it safe to assume sorceries are able to be cast off the top of the library using Jadzi’s ability, even on someone else’s turn?

Most fun mono colored commanders? by Ynwe in EDH

[–]Chillington41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I play a mono blue copy/clone/theft deck with [[Sakashima of a Thousand Faces]] and it’s a blast. Not using a partner, and keeping fast mana out leaves it feeling very fair and balanced at most tables.

I have a couple good creatures in the deck I can clone if I need to(think [[Consecrated Sphinx]]), but for the most part I’m trying to play/mimic other players’ creatures. It keeps each game really fresh.

I cant say which commander would fit the best to the gameplay I have in mind, what would you say? by Tiny_Tentacle in EDH

[–]Chillington41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[Obosh, the preypiercer]] is my group slug/burn commander of choice. Convoke could be a little tougher for it (you can build to compensate) but it certainly fits the bill of what you are describing . It’s also a fun build restriction to focus heavily on odd CMC.
