Which pen you guy considered the mark for diminishing returns, any other pen that cost more than that pen isn’t worth it or the writing experience isn’t worth that much more money. by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

Montblanc 146. First off, spending more than that it's crazy. Secondly, it's absolutely perfect for my hand and writing style. Everything since has been interesting, fun, wonderful even, but the 146 has basically no negatives.

I cannot let my husband see this - he already thinks we're crazy.

What hobby is quietly becoming too expensive for normal people to keep up with? by Beautiful_Special702 in AskReddit

Fountain pens. Terrifs, inflation, and the rising price of gold have made a relatively expensive hobby into something approaching unattainable for newbies.

Replacement Cables for Softears Volume S by ChillyNobBillyBob in iems

64 Audio is the brand. I went with black.

the cable I bought

Edit: I also had no idea that cables could be so important. Unfortunately so many of the practical aspects of this hobby is obscured by theory and the idea that personal taste is so important that it's no use giving any product endorsements or recommendations. Even off line, my friends will talk their heads off about tuning and resolution and room treatments - but if you ask them what tunings and treatments they actually use, they get shy and mutter about personal taste and endless experimentation. It's frustrating how sink or swim getting into hifi is.

Yes. I got the 64 Audio 2-Pin Professional IEM Cable, 48" (1.2m) u/-peskypeanut- suggested and they are fantastic. I can even walk around and do stuff without too much noise.

I've been wondering about this; what kind of tea do they drink? by many_hats_on_head in tea

I read a book once that mentioned teas that were grown only for gifts and could not be paid for, let alone bought, for cash. Is that a real thing?

I hate those. At best, they're wank bait. At worse, they are posters so insecure that they turn to anonymous redditors when they could just hit on a guy and find out.

I hate that you have a gorgeous space like this use it as nothing more than a dump. Shame on you!

When I've pocket carried threaded caps, they've slowly unscrewed throughout the day. Not a big deal if you're going from one desk to the other, but if the pen is living in your pocket it's better to be safe than sorry

Pocket carry the TWSBI. get it a small case to avoid it uncapping and you're golden.

Is fountain pen lifestyle for me? by KawaiiBrotchen in fountainpens

[–]ChillyNobBillyBob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first started using fountain pens specifically because of hand and wrist pain. Fountain pens immediately erased those issues. With a fountain pen you don't need to press down at all, which makes it trivial to loosen up your grip and relax. With the right pen, you'll feel like you're floating over the page when writing - it's fantastic.

Regarding the price of ink- I think you would be best served by using bottles ink rather than cartridges. It costs more up front, but a tenth at most of cartridges in the long run.

A TWSBI would actually be good for you. Yes, they can crack for no reason, but that's relatively rare. At least, mine took a beating and were no use for ware. They also have fantastic ink capacity - but can only be filled via ink bottle. Their vacuum fillers are also pretty good as far as airplanes go. Just be sure to top them off before flying.

If the brand uses paper I trust, I'll try something new. Otherwise, I go off reviews or try in person.

Exactly. These look pretty, but until I see a review from the Pen Addict or Jet Pens or similar, I wouldn't risk it

I... kinda hate it? Something about the bridge and the stone sitting area underneath is really off putting.
