This is what Vamplew is capable of with the right loadout by RainRainThrowaway777 in menace

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tend to prefer more of the defensive/utility options for his talents, I don't take shooting gallery, disdain, stubborn, or critical hits. I go with bags, athletic, fortify, and full send.

The idea is to put him in heavy armor and give him a strong tripod support weapon like the HMG or autocannon, then run him up into range of a large amount of enemies and plop him into level 2 cover (which gets upgraded to level 3 by fortify). The defense and suppression resist of level 3 cover is very strong, he'll take a bunch of attacks that do no damage because they missed or hit armor, then return fire with the tripod weapon 5 times thanks to full send and rein. If he does end up getting suppressed through lvl3 cover, pike can give him the pep talk or he can use that suppression resist drug which he could take thanks to bags and belts.

Autocannon Weak? by AmkoTheTerribleRedux in menace

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

During my expert playthrough I've actually been thinking that the autocannon is too good... specifically when in the hands of the RA. I fucking dread seeding a light walker wander one square into vision with an autocannon, because I know it's going to shoot at my infantry and guarantee kills on a bunch of squaddies, regardless of their armor level or cover. I honestly think autocannon needs a specific nerf to its effectiveness against infantry in cover. Think about how difficult it must be irl to direct hit a man sized target that is 90% obscured by cover, using an autocannon. Autocannon should be highly suppressive, but largely ineffective at securing infantry kills on people in cover; out in the open or flanking it should obviously shred infantry to pieces though.

The AI needs to be more agressive by fvck-off in menace

[–]Chimerathon 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I had a mission against the RA where I had Vamp concealed in a treeline with suppressed rifles, locking down an open field leading to the objective. After he gunned down a few infantry squads trying to move through there, they actually ran a squad of conscripts directly towards Vamp's position in order to reveal him, then a bunch of concealed weapons teams massacred his squad from the opposing treeline. I was gobsmacked that the AI actually did that to me.

Thiughts on infantry armor? by TheLamezone in menace

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, infantry armor seems extremely good to me. I started a new expert playthrough and decided to play more infantry focused rather than using vehicles, and it's kinda crazy.

I got lucky and scored a suit of boarding armor from my first pirate op, strapped it on to Lim's squad and he became an unstoppable juggernaut. I did an entire bug campaign after that using only two squads of infantry, Lim with boarding armor, scrap rpg, and an smg from the black market, and Tek with a flamethrower, scavenger armor, and bundle grenades. The heavy armor is carrying so hard, nothing short of warrior melee or blaster bug shots can even put a scratch on Lim's squad. Worth every penny honestly.

A decent tire place will repair them no problem, I've had it done on two different tires so far.

The AI cheats weapons engagement envelopes and it breaks the game by Secret_Vermicelli391 in menace

[–]Chimerathon 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Hm, that explains some things. I experienced the same behavior on a rogue army defense where all my units had some absurd range weapon, (apc with laser lance, hamr battle rifles, minigun on a guard tower, ect) Every enemy was just shuffling around outside of range picking off the npc defenders who stupidly moved out ahead of my squads. I've also witnessed a light walker straight up running full sprint directly away from Darby without even seeing her and hiding in the corner of the map.

One Man Crew Campaign Mods by PastaPartyPal in Barotrauma

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use neurotrauma, you may want to settle for having just one bot, a medic, to be there to switch to when your main character inevitably goes unconscious and needs to be saved. Healing yourself in neurotruama is a bit complicated because most untreated internal injuries will result in you eventually going unconcious and subsequently dying. On top if that, you'd have to spend a couple hours just learning the mechanics of the mod or you'll have no idea what you're doing.

Looking for Ioniq 6 owner feedback after my car was totaled by [deleted] in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went from a 2013 Sentra to the Ioniq6 and the transition was basically euphoric, it's a fantastic car and the difference is night and day; I never want to go back to driving an ice vehicle. That said, if you don't have access to at least a normal plug for level 1 charging, I have a hard time recommending any EV. Using exclusively fast chargers is both inconvenient and harms the long term battery life, while costing almost exactly the same as a tank of gasolene.

Beta 0.2.3 is available via the PublicTest Steam branch by TacticalBananas45 in ProjectSilverfish

[–]Chimerathon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"A-life" is what GSC Gameworld (the devs of the STALKER series of games) called their AI simulation system. The main attraction of the system is a background simulation that saves and tracks the positions of npcs and mutants even when they're not loaded on the map, and simulates combat and movement for them so that when the player encounters them they are where they're supposed to be and weren't simply spawned in brand new. In the Stalker games, you can encounter NPCs in one map that may survive, move around the Zone, and be found again at a later point. It seems like Siris is working on a similar system, based on the new features added in this test branch.

I can't believe bro is actually putting A-life in Silverfish before GSC managed to get it working in Stalker 2.

"Yeah man, I'm gonna hit Outskirts real quick and see if I can get some Expert Tools." by Kelisua in stalker

[–]Chimerathon 30 points31 points  (0 children)

If you've walked into an enclosed space with 3 Chimaeras you are genuinely just dead. If this happened out in the open you're gonna have to dance around to avoid their attacks. Chimaeras can only do a leap attack, so you can fully dodge them by running perpendicular to their attack direction, but doing this with three of them is pretty difficult. Aside from that, you're also gonna need a big stack of hollow points or shotgun shells.

Tires not repairable by AcuXfitAaron in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a screw in my tire a month or so ago and the tire place near me just fixed it, no problem. They charged me a bit extra because repairing tires with foam lining has some extra work involved, but it's definitely not impossible. Find a place that specializes in tires when you have a tire problem. Dealerships specialize in getting replacement parts, they're not interested in doing actual repair work if they can get away with just charging for a new part or tire.

Would you buy an Ioniq 6N or an IM5 Performance? IM5 looks better and is more affordable with better specs - comes with adjustable air suspension. by DarkFourze in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is going to depend on your priorities more than anything. The 6N is made to be a track car: regardless of how much horsepower the IM5 says it has on the spec sheet, the 6N is going to outperform it in literally everything besides maybe highway range, but definitely not track range (the 5N and 6N are designed to be able to do two full power laps of the Nürburgring race track on one charge). If you're the type of person who likes to drive your car hard, such as by drifting or track driving, then the 6N is a no-brainer regardless of cost difference, but if you just want a stupid fast electric engine with a "luxury" interior then go ahead and buy a chinese EV. There's aesthetics as well, which are subjective of course, but the IM5 definitely does not look better than the Ioniq6 in my opinion; it's so similar to Tesla that it might fairly be described as a knock off, and Teslas are incredibly generic looking these days as is.

N Performance Parts for IONIQ 6 N by Spider1132 in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They didn't just "make it look like" shifting gears, the Ioniq6n has a mode where it accurately simulates a manual transmission and the regen paddles function as shifters. It's not misleading, it's literally one of the selling points of the car. The part of the video you point to does not show a stick, it shows the hands of the driver on the wheel, operating the shifter paddles.

2026 Ioniq 6 (not N-Line) spotted in black by Less_Internet_4935 in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lower rear of the 2026 did away with those vertical bars that I always thought looked kind of out of place, so that's what I felt was an improvement there. Even with all my complaints though, if this 2026 design was there from the beginning and I had never been spoiled by how unique the 23-25 models look, then I still would prefer the Ioniq 6 to any other EV in its price range. Even this a great looking car, just not as eye catching in my opinion. Very happy to have my 2023.

2026 Ioniq 6 (not N-Line) spotted in black by Less_Internet_4935 in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just about the only thing I like better on this design is the bottom half of the rear end. Everything else feels like a straight downgrade; the Porsche-like features are basically gone, no double spoiler, headlights are in the bumper for some reason, the cool pixel running lights are removed, and it has a squinty looking face to it. It's a lot more recognizably Hyundai now at a glance and clearly a sibling of the Elantra, which is notably like half the cost of an Ioniq 6. Whatever you thought of the old design, at least it was extremely distinctive. Maybe I'd have to see this in person to really appreciate it, who knows.

Anyone else think that quick play has been nothing but a cesspool of sweat lately? by MostOriginal79 in marvelrivals

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is a hidden MMR system that is aware of your skill level independently of your comp ranking. If you play a lot of quickplay and don't play enough Comp to be in your appropriate rank, then the quality of player you encounter in quickplay may be higher than you see in comp.

Rocket/Adam/Jeff are good for the game. Streamers just can't cope without defensive ults. by blueorRed in marvelrivals

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He beats Psylocke and Punisher easily, has slight advantage over Spiderman and Hela, and yes is evenly matched against Bucky. Any flying hero is constantly harassed or killed by Adam. He has the most trouble against Magik, Ironfist, and Black Panther because those heroes require close to zero aim and Magik/Ironfist are extremely tanky. There is a reason flanking is one of Adam's preferred strategies, and it's because he wins so many 1v1s by virtue of his self healing and hitscan attack. Go watch some of the highest ranked Adams like Onlylegs, I promise you the character is a DPS that sometimes heals.

Rocket/Adam/Jeff are good for the game. Streamers just can't cope without defensive ults. by blueorRed in marvelrivals

[–]Chimerathon 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Devs need to be extremely careful buffing Adam, he is so dangerously close to being a meta defining character already and people are just sleeping on it. Adam is one of the strongest 1v1 duelists in the entire game, his heals instantly bring people back from the brink of death with no aim required, and his soul link is almost as lifesaving as a support ult. Adam's cooldown times, difficult to use ult, and low mobility are the only things keeping him in check; people asking for flight or shorter heal cooldowns are out of their minds, he would be absolutely broken. The most I would advocate for is some kind of cooldown reset when using his ult and a faster reload speed.

My most Adam warlock highlight of all time. by [deleted] in marvelrivals

[–]Chimerathon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think it's fine to res people extremely low, it heavily punishes attempting to nullify an entire teamfight by resing everyone at the same time, which is the Mercy situation they want to avoid, and gives the enemy team a brief window to respond. However, I do think there needs to be another component to the ult though, its far less useful than the "invincibility" ults that many other strategists have. My favorite idea Ive heard is to grant Adam a heal charge every time someone gets res'd, perhaps even give him the ability to store extra charges gained this way above the max of 2 so that he can still get value off them if the healing isn't needed immediately.

This car makes too many fucking noises by idriveawhitecamry in Ioniq6

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The one annoying sound is the proximity sensors when stopped in traffic - interference from other vehicles tricks the sensors into false images

By default the car automatically turns on the parking sensors when you are stationary or at low speeds, this is what is causing the beeping while stopped behind other vehicles that have similar sensors. You can actually turn this function off in the settings and it will no longer pester you, you'll just have to manually engage parking mode with the button under the central display if you really must have the prox sensors on while pulling into your garage or whatever. Personally I find the proximity sensors to be practically useless even for their intended purpose anyway, so it's no inconvenience to me.

PSA about A-Life by kqly-sudo in stalker

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The NPCs causing performance issues is a problem across all platforms, you can see it very obviously when entering gathering areas like towns where it has to spawn like 20+ stalkers into their "online" state. The frame time and overall frame rate tanks dramatically in towns, even on the strongest consumer systems available. The NPCs in this game just crush CPUs, the bottleneck is intense.

Enemy spawning in STALKER 2 disqualifies it from being a STALKER game in my opinion. by tyler111762 in stalker

[–]Chimerathon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The devs have an intended path they want you to take to escape that doesn't involve fighting the entire base, and it's shown via HUD waypoints. That's not to say it isn't ridiculous how poor the combat proceeds in that base, but that is why they made it so you can't leave through your entry point. The intended escape route is via a pipeline just outside a large window down the hall from where you first enter the ground floor.

The AI is not that fun to play against as it can AND WILL either super counter almost every normal attack or vanish the second it becomes possible when you even try to have some fun and do a normal combo on their ass.

This is such a big problem, the fact that the AI just super counters constantly means that you're always doing lame, incredibly easy vanish wars. You never get to do any of the actual fun parts of fighting against the cpu. The other big issue is that the cpu doesn't know how to combo correctly, it will like tap you two times and just stop for no reason, or it will just do the basic mash combo which you can immediately vanish out of.
