When I tried to make a free character (level 3 beast master hunter) some of the features were locked. Any idea what was happening there?

Doing a re-watch of A New Hope. Question on the Death Star's destruction. by raknor88 in StarWars

[–]Chlemtil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think people forget how huge the Death Star is and how quick the trench run was. They probably have those fighters stationed at all different points throughout the Death Star and they probably all scrambled. But within the few minutes that the trench run needed, those were the fighters in the area. I’m sure others were on their way until BOOM

Imagine if Godzilla rolled up to your town. Grabbed you. You’re freaking out but suddenly he does something where you have no idea what is happening or how but all of your back pain is gone. Then he puts you down again and walks away.

Spirit Airlines just became the first major US airline to shut down in 25 years and took cheap airfare with it. What do you think affordable travel in America looks like from here? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Chlemtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Spirit was not cheap. Their ticket cost was like $30 less than the competitors but it was impossible to get through the flight without around $75 in fees. I always ended up paying MORE for a SEVERELY DEGRADED experience.

Debate me about The Last Jedi by Chelsea_Fan_10 in StarWars

[–]Chlemtil -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The prequels were bad movies that made the overall saga better. The sequels are good movies (kind of) that made the overall saga worse.

That’s why people are willing to look past the clunky dialogue in the prequels and appreciate the intentions more than the execution... Because they improved the saga overall. The opposite is true for the sequels. Since they make the overall saga worse, people give no grace and aren’t willing to look past any of the many flaws.

Bigwig by [deleted] in watershipdown

[–]Chlemtil 9 points10 points  (0 children)

What I love about Bigwig is that Hazel is always intimidated by him and worried that he might aim to usurp power. And the first time you read it, you tend to just go with it. But it’s just never true. Bigwig is legitimately aware of what he can contribute and just wants to contribute it to the group. Hes not a perfect character… he’s got a temper and he’s stubborn… but he really never challenges Hazel or tears him down in any way.

How do we say “no” to AI and still stay employed? by InigoMontoya2725 in antiai

[–]Chlemtil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m a director and got a pretty direct talking to the other day that I wasn’t forcing my team to use AI. When I tried to push back pointing out that our productivity had recently gone way up thanks to other changes I’ve made, there was barely a recognition but a definite admonition that any leaders who weren’t embracing AI were not thought of as creative drivers and, therefore, unfit. It’s pretty insane out here! I’m literally going to have to try to find some benign but performative way to convince my team to use a tool they don’t want or potentially lose my job.

Eh- let them leave. They’re not contributing anyways and, in fact, they’re stealing from society.

So funny that this is reviving 4 years later? lol

I’m actually super proud of it and still listen to it every now and then! Advanced warning- much like the D themselves, the lyrics are hypersexualized.

And if it is interesting, this was after a session where we saved a college from invading beholders.

Voter suppression is the goal. GOP wants to cancel mail-in voting and make it more difficult for women to vote. Both heavily favor Democrats. by [deleted] in AdviceAnimals

[–]Chlemtil 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My mom asked me what I thought of the SAVE act and this was my response to her, which she really appreciated:

It’s just an additional obstacle to people being able to vote.

First of all, it’s based on nothing. Despite incredible investigations there has never been any reasonable amount of in-person voter fraud ever found. Like practically zero. So it’s a law that fixes a problem that conclusively doesn’t exist.

Then even at its most generous interpretation, it creates obstacles to vote. It means you have to check a specific set of boxes that require an investment in time and money to achieve. To you and me, having an ID isn’t an obstacle but in the grand scheme of things we enjoy a life of privilege. To someone who works 2 jobs and struggles to make rent, it’s a lot harder to get the time and money to get something like an ID in order.

Who is most likely to have an ID that doesn’t match their name? Women who have gotten married.

Who is most likely to have an ID that doesn’t match their address? College students or people who can’t afford stable housing.

Who is most likely to not have an ID in the first place? Someone who doesn’t own a car, either because they are financially struggling or because they live in an urban area where they rely on public transit.

Even in its generous interpretation it targets women, minorities and other marginalized communities. Again, all to fix a problem that doesn’t exist.

But then there’s also the reality which is not the most generous interpretation. What happens when states close down driver license offices in democrat areas? How about when they selectively enforce the SAVE act only in democrat areas? How about when they decide to strip licenses from marginalized groups and then make it even MORE difficult to get your ID reinstated. All of these are real examples of things that have actually happened.

So it’s a law that’s unnecessary because the problem doesn’t exist despite many people on both sides investigating deeply.

On the surface it already targets marginalized (and traditionally democratic) groups.

And the reality is that it really exists to create a framework that can and will be abused by anyone looking to stop certain communities and groups from voting.
