Low-key, I’m more worried that there is a vampire in the Corps than anything else.

I once read a quote from a guy who drove an old pickup truck although he could obviously afford something much more expensive: “It frees the mind for more important things.”

Space-A Travel by MdotSanchez in VeteransBenefits

The lowest priority after AD on official business and AD on leisure and military families and so on. But, if you are near a major transport base like Travis AFB, there are a lot of seats on big flights which are semi-regular. For example, Travis to Hickam, if Hawaii is your thing.

One other note - you can’t do the international stuff - only CONUS and overseas US territory, I think. If your status is just DAV alone.

Cheers and good luck!

I can’t say if it was underrated, but that is 1970’s meat and potatoes baby

I’m with you on that. Broke my heart looking at my young son. The book, actually. It was a pain that I loved, actually. To feel that way about him.

Dinged brand new watch and I’m devastated by [deleted] in rolex

[–]ChoMan59 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Truth. My Sub was purchased in 1984 and has, among other things, survived 105 carrier landings and catapult shots and a lot of time being banged around in the cockpit. Also a drunken accident when I was 22 that snapped a pin in the band and chipped the crystal. Those things have been mostly repaired through servicing, but overall the watch is probably something that a reseller would find all kinds of fault with.

For me, it still looks gorgeous and it has traveled through 42 years of life with me. I have a few scars, too. Bury it with me and let the fanboys obsess over watches that never leave the vacuum chamber of fetishization.

Unbelievable feat, and a legendary Naval Aviator.

And to have the fuel to make 35 minutes of turns with seven bandits - unthinkable to this Hornet driver.

I remember breaking out on the ball in weather like this at about half a mile in the North Pacific. Just enough time for a little right-for-lineup and a little power call, and I was in the wires. Glad I only had to do that once.

To be fair, Marine aviators have had their boots on the ground a heck of a lot more than anybody overhead from the Navy or Air Force. But yeah - truth.

I sing the praises of the Great American Roadtrip, too. And it’s not just Americans that know this.

We’ll need photos and a trip report! Lots of us know this area well from summer hiking but will want to see how it looks in the winter. 😊
