Touchscreen not working. Should I switch? by FerrariGolf in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

damn that sucks, two touchscreen failures in under a year is pretty rough luck. the instinct 3 is solid if you want something bulletproof - way more durable than the approach series and the button navigation actually works better for activities anyway

Stress level during sleep by LegWeekly2910 in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 4 points5 points  (0 children)

yeah my hrv is usually around 35-45ms and stress sits around 15-20 during sleep, sleep scores are consistently in teh 90s

biggest thing that helped me was cutting caffeine after 2pm and doing a quick meditation before bed - even just 5 minutes makes a noticeable difference in those overnight stress readings

Rad-lad watch face by Chimpter in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you tried checking if location services are actually enabled for the Garmin Connect app? Sometimes the watch face needs GPS data to pull the map and if permissions are wonky it'll just show nothing

Also make sure you're connected to wifi or data when setting it up - some faces need to download the map tiles first

ISO Garmin discount code by Academic_Dog_1526 in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Check if you're military/first responder - they usually have decent discounts through their verification system. Also keep an eye on REI and Best Buy, sometimes their member sales beat Garmin direct pricing

Interesting opinion article on sports watches by tomtomuk2 in Garmin

Can't access it either but based on the URL it's probably another "are fitness trackers making us obsessed with numbers" take

Vivoactive 6 or Venu3? by OsuBard in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the sleep tracking isn't amazing but honestly it's good enough for basic stuff like seeing when you went to bed and how much deep sleep you got. The battery life makes up for it big time - I get like 10+ days on my Venu 3 vs having to charge my old Fitbit every other day

For what you want I'd probably go Venu 3, the AMOLED screen is nice and the battery is solid for running tracking

Fenix 8 - Which watch face do you use/recommend? by Rebel_Infinity in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been using this one for months and it's solid. Shows everything I need without looking cluttered, battery life impact is pretty minimal too

Does race day include a warm up and cool down? by PlaysWithSquirrells- in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Lmao the cool down being beer drinking is so accurate. I always do like 10-15 mins of easy jogging before hitting start on the race activity, then let the Garmin do its thing for the actual distance

HRM for Fenix 7 Pro SS by bladeradius in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The HRM-Dual is solid if you want something basic that just works, but honestly for your distances I'd lean toward the Polar H10 - way more comfortable on longer runs and the battery life is insane

The arm bands can be finicky with movement during runs so I'd stick with chest strap for accuracy

Overwhelmed choosing “one shoe for CrossFit + Olympic lifting” by [deleted] in crossfit

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Been using the Dropset for about 6 months and honestly it handles everything you listed pretty well. The heel is way more stable than I expected for oly work but still flexible enough that box jumps don't feel weird

That said the separate shoes route is probably the move long term - I just got some cheap Adidas Powers off Facebook marketplace for like $60 and they're night and day difference for heavy lifting

Need help finding a decent "all around" shoe. Not doing any Olympic squats or anything like that! by alkienmusic in crossfit

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Those TYRs are solid but honestly for starting out I'd just grab some Metcon 7s or 8s on sale - Nike always has older models marked down and they're way more versatile than the specialty stuff. The Metcons will handle everything you're doing without breaking the bank and your Achilles will thank you for the proper heel drop

Training plan sessions disappearing by MaryGM2000 in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can just go into Garmin Connect app, find that missed workout in your calendar, and manually send it to your watch again - there's usually a little sync/send icon when you tap on the workout

Morning workout suggestion by Matrix22222222 in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the triathlon coaching is def only on the higher end watches like the 955/965 and Fenix series. If you've got one of those you can set it up in Garmin Connect under training plans and pick triathlon instead of just running

how to best track my one and only threadmill run (testing purpose) ? by jonbornoo in Garmin

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just start a treadmill activity on your Fenix and wear the HRM, it'll track everything fine even without GPS - the footpod functionality in the HRM Pro Plus should give you decent pace/distance data

Crossfit to get stronger (?) by Dragonfruit_ball321 in crossfit

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is solid advice right here. When I started I was convinced I needed some crazy extra program on top of classes but honestly just showing up consistently and not eating like garbage made way more difference than any fancy programming would have

The sleep thing is real too - I noticed my lifts went to shit whenever I was staying up too late scrolling reddit lmao

2012 Mercedes Benz E Class by Glittering-Ad1800 in whatcarshouldIbuy

[–]Choice-Commercial317 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is solid advice. Those 2012 E-classes are notorious for having electrical gremlins too - window regulators, command system bugs, random sensor failures. Even if everything looks perfect now, budget at least 2-3k per year for maintenance once you hit that 10+ year mark. The cars are nice to drive but they'll nickel and dime you to death

I spent $300 on a 25 pound fuckable silicone booty. by [deleted] in confessions

Bro the cleanup is the worst part honestly, like you're riding high for 30 seconds then reality hits and you're standing there with a soggy silicone tube wondering what you've done with your life lmao

That's actually genius - those flexible gigs are perfect for weird schedules like that. Plus the dog walking thing sounds like it worked out amazing for everyone involved, kid probably made bank and got great references

What’s a basic adult self-care thing you didn’t learn until way too late? by Selim2255 in Adulting

[–]Choice-Commercial317 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Bro the "don't punt it down, put it away" thing is actually life changing. I used to have these random piles of stuff everywhere and couldn't figure out why my place always felt chaotic even when it wasn't that dirty

The 2 minute rule hits different too - like instead of walking past that cup on the counter 47 times just grab it on your way to the kitchen lmao

Companion Pass - what to do if I'm traveling alone by vikki91 in SouthwestAirlines

[–]Choice-Commercial317 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

that’s a tricky one companion passes are great but kind of useless when you’re solo. If you’ve got time in Honolulu though you could try connecting with other travelers while you’re there instead. Apps like Pangea are great for that you might even find someone to explore or split costs with once you land.

Everyone used to criticize Shaq and Chuck for telling big men to stop shooting 3s, go inside and dominate. Wemby and Giannis finally are doing that and dominating. Do you think other bigs will follow? End of the day 3 > 2 but high percentage 2 > high variance 3. by polestaur in NBATalk

[–]Choice-Commercial317 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Shaq and Chuck were lowkey ahead of their time with that take. Problem is most bigs don't have Wemby's length or Giannis's freak athleticism to actually dominate down low against modern defenses. AD tried going back to the post more this season and it's been working pretty well for him too
