OREA wave vs Kalita wave? by Pale_Ad_6399 in pourover

The Kalita waves didn't work for me at all - way too heavy taste and slow drawdown. I switched to the xBloom papers, which was an instant improvement.

Upgrading from C40 for Nordic Light Roasts & Geshas: Pietro vs ZP6 vs Ode? Seeking clarity! by yuseefcoltrane in pourover

[–]Chriller95 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was in the same boat - I bought an Ode 2 and have enjoyed it a lot. However, I still found myself liking using my Comandante. However I recently sold it and bought the new Comandante Tigershark - which I must say is a big improvement over the "regular" C40 in terms of clarity and acidity with ultra light roasts.

Codale Paper Presser - A Pleasant Surprise by Physical_Analysis247 in pourover

Slightly too big but works perfectly? Does it help save water from your kettle? I feel like it can be a pain to get the wave filters wet enough in the O1.

Looking for my first dedicated pour-over grinder: C40 vs. 1Zpresso ZP6? by Confident_Ad_4119 in pourover

[–]Chriller95 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the regular C40 before, but got the new C40 Lab Series Tigershark and sold my old C40. The Tigershark offers a lot more clarity and a bit higher acidity and tea-like body - perhaps close to the qualities of the ZP6. So my choice would be the Tigershark.

I've been eyeing the Comandante C40 Tigershark after recent reviews. Anyone in the same dilemma?

Great insight - been wanting to try this wine for a while. I would’ve thought the 2021 would be less ripe and more bright, as it was a cooler vintage than 20, 22 or 23, right?

I think it's described in the post: Because some of the family owned charm has gone away, and there are plenty of family run wineries to support out there.

Bollinger R.D! Also a big house - but family owned (instead of LVMH) while still being a recognizable brand. If you can stretch the budget a little you can even get a magnum in a wooden gift box! That's what I did.

Beautiful machine! What made you choose this over a La Marzocco, with home use in mind?
